GTY Cabin Assigment News:

I just got off the phone with DCL (CM Friday). I was placing an order for a secret surprise for my groom. I asked about cabin assigments telling the CM I was told by another CM it would be 30 days. She said that is not correct cabins are assigned anywhere from 35 days out to anytime prior to sending out cruise docs. She offered to check the status for me.

Friday checked with the reservations supervisor who advised inventory control is hoping to begin assigning cabins tonight or tomorrow. She told me to check the web site Monday for our cabin #.

***disclaimer ie don't shoot the messenger. I didn't say we will have our cabin assigments by the above listed dates. This is the information that was given to me.

Monday? are you kidding? Who is gonna wait until Monday to look? :rotfl:

With all the hair do talk for formal night, would anyone be able/interested/willing to do a big princess's updo? I am "hair-challenged" as my beauty school sister tells me and since she won't be around to do it... just wondering... I'd rather not spend big bucks at the salon if I can help it! Can't believe we're under a month! My cabin is still showing GTY... maybe by tonight... or tomorrow... or the next day! HAHAHA! Hope everyone is having a great week! I've got 2 days to get everything done for a wedding reception on Saturday and I'm stressed to the max! Thank heavens I've got this cruise coming to keep me sane! Haven't even started thinking about packing yet! Maybe I should get on that! I'm more of a "night before throw it in the suitcase" kind of a packer! Have a good day!!! ;)

We are under 30 days! Oh yeah:cool1::dance3:.. (Insert dancing banana, I know some don't like the little yellow guy, so I will hold off until we are a week away!!)
Tiffany, wishing you lots of patience with all of those girls! Maybe to help, you could teach them some cheers with using Disney songs:rotfl2:? Gimme an 'M' gimme an 'I', well you get it.. Just kidding!!

Congrats on the upgrade Paige-that's an awesome deal!! We aren't going to take the one offered to us. Saving the money for the bar, oops, I meant excursions. Of course I know it will probably go to souvenirs. Last cruise, we were on first name basis with one gal in the shop. Sad :lmao:

Off to make more magnets..:surfweb:

Here is the link for the yahoo group, would love to get some more people on there.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sept09cruisingmagic/

We love glitter spray in my house.

Just signed up to the yahoo group but we are not listed on any of the FE lists on there???

Will there be an official list posted with total final numers, children and room numbers. I just want to make sure I have the right about of gifts.

4 weeks and 2 days to go!!!!

:rotfl:My goodness, you all have been active on here. I promised myself to I would stay off here today and just check in periodically. . .

Jody, my van may be your suv's twin! Only we have those two extra people and their stuff too. Not relishing cleaning it out once we spend a 1000 miles on the road but also did not relish giving up $800-$1000 (price of flights for us plus rental, etc.) I could use towards other vacation plans.

Sinderelly, It is now my goal to get you excited enough to post a dancing banana. :rotfl: Maybe if we could some how make him a her and dress her in princess attire you'd go for the banana magic! Ah, well, we will just give you lots of :dance3: and :woohoo:

My DD4 actually thinks she has been to BBB in DTD b/c last time we were there we looked in and played with the accessories (bought a little crown) and as we were walking away, a fairygodmother stopped us and asked if she could give her (DD4) some magic and turn her into a Princess. She then sprinkled her with glitter, lots of glitter, long lasting glitter. . . and the look of awe on her face when she looked in the mirror was priceless. The glitter baptism lasted for days! through swimming and bathing. . . magic glitter it was! Alas, now she has her hair cut in a bob and it would indeed be difficult to get up in a bun without the magic glue BBB uses so a dusting of glitter may be all the updo-ing she gets! Look for us Gretchen! I've actually never seen that spray!

Oh and Jonesing??? Real men wear glitter. Yup, I'm pretty sure of it. Lots of it showed up at our last Pirate party during craft time for some pirate hat trim and indeed lots of men wore glitter that day at least! Don't fight the glitter.

And with those insightful comments (???!!??) I'm outahere. Have to attack the DS6 room today and finish up our wardrobe inventory, clean in there, and start the gathering of "stuff to pack" for him.

GTY is DCL's way of getting you to book and pay for specific rooms in higher level cat's the next time you sail. Monday will be here soon enough RIGHT??? It's all about the marketing, they are gold standard at it as we know full well.

I'll check with my friend...she is a hairdresser. She does a great job!:thumbsup2

I think I do better on kids hair - I will have a great challenge trying to do something with my own hair! I don't want to pay big bucks for an updo in the salon on the ship, although that would be awesome! Maybe there's some grown up hair genius that will be on board with us?? :confused3

Kileybeth - you crack me up - your glitter story! I love it! Yeah, I'll find you with my glitter spray!!!! No one is safe!!!! (except the tuxes.......)

Oooohhhhh, I'll be sure to stay away from all tuxes with the glitter spray! Only for princesses! :thumbsup2
Gretchen-Is the glitter spray offer only for little princesses? :rotfl: I used to be able to french braid very well but I'm a little out of practice. Unfortunately I can't do my own braiding. I admire those with that talent.

Jonesing-I would be happy to be a glitter block.

Kathy(who hates that dancing banana)

Yay! A glitter blocker!!!:banana::banana: :teeth:

But DS would probably love it...he does like wearing his "sparkly" (aka mommy's eye shadow) so a little glitter to brighten up his hot pink bow tie & vest for semi-formal night would make his day!

Hi Everyone!!! I am home from surgery and here for roll call.

Wow! That was a hard surgery this time. Boy was I sick! I think it was the fact that I had two surgeries in 8 weeks. I am still not feeling great but I am able to at least get on the computer for a little.
Glad the surgery went well!! I tell ya, THE BEST words to hear when stuck in the hospital are from the charge nurse into her little walkie-phone: "Call transportation" and hearing the phone respond back <robot voice> "Calling transportation" That means they're sending for the wheelchair to take you out! :cool1:

Make sure you take your pain meds and don't be shy about getting rest.

We drove 800 KM before we would stop for gas, bathroom and food. They would eat in the car and each stop only took about 20 minutes.
:mad:You people are nuts and I would never, ever travel by car with you....

800km = ~500 mi for our imperially challenged friends...20 minutes?!?! Seriously? When we relocate, that's our driving limit for THE DAY: we're alloted an overnight (paid) hotel stay for every 500 miles of driving!! If the new location is 1050 miles or more away then we have the option of either driving or flying (and using a rental car until our personal cars get shipped out).

Reminds me of cross-country drives as a kid with my father at the helm :headache:

Well they will get along great with my fiance, he is a big TALKER! :rotfl: Love him, but boy can he talk your ear off! Sometimes I have to remind him to breathe, lol. "See" you all tomorrow :)
Wow - all these men who TALK!!! Most men have the opposite issue! My husband is another talker!!! When I met him, I was like.....oh, he is soooo deep and LOVES to talk! Now I cannot stop him!!! He talks waayyyy more than me!
Too funny! :rotfl:
Harumph!!! I'm surprised DW hasn't chimed in on this perfect opening for her.... :teeth: Well, would y'all prefer the usual MO? Not talking at all, or the "I don't know you so why are you even talking to me?" attitude?

Also spent most of the day with my DS17 going from one place to the next after much on line research and price matching, we finally got him his early birthday present, a DSLR camera!! A huge gift and boy does he know it! Ended up with a Nikon D60 package and I am just glad to have that done. He now has a month to play before we sail and Mom gets some awesome pics.
DW (the Leica & Nikon camera snob :snooty:) agrees with your selection. :thumbsup2 Though now, I hate you. :teeth: Like you, we're already hemorrhaging money on this trip and I'm sure there's something DW needs for her Nikon DSLR--new lens, filters, camera  Maybe we'll find a good deal on Nikon gear in the Caymans like we did in St. Thomas.

Paige - Thanks for posting the dining thing. I just wish we could know what our rotation is.....
You can call DCL and 'request' a specific meal rotation. They can pretty much keep/set your seating time but the meal rotation is subject to change. But they will make a note of your desired rotation and try to accomodate that. If you don't get it when you check in, you can always try and switch when you board the ship.

Is anyone else planning on shipping there FE gifts ahead of time?? If so, how much time are you allowing it to get there? I finally have a grasp on finalizing my FE gifts and sat DM down the other day to get hers done as well.
We are shipping stuff ahead of time. We're staying at the Residence Inn Cape Canaveral the night before and I'm going to FedEx our stuff to arrive either Thursday afternoon or Friday morning.

Just thought I'd mention that our cruise just showed up on Travelzoo's top 20list today for $599 per person soooooo. . we are obviously not anywhere near full ya think?
We're in a Cat 6 but would like to surprise DH with a Cat 3. Wonder how much that will run? If the 6 to 4 upgrades are being offered at $300 then it might not be much more. But then again there's concierge to consider.
$599? DS4's fare is more than that! Can I stick him in that room by himself?!

Talked to a DCL CM and she said there are still "a couple" Cat 3 suites available: cost is only about $10,700! :thumbsup2

I think we'll break in DSIL's brand new Disney Visa Card! :rolleyes1

Kileybeth - you crack me up - your glitter story! I love it! Yeah, I'll find you with my glitter spray!!!! No one is safe!!!! (except the tuxes.......)

I am renting my Tuxedo from cruiselineformal.com :cool1:, so you guys should feel free to spread as much of that spray glitter as you want all over it:rotfl2:

Our first time on the Magic too. Checking in for role call. Can't wait for the week of sun. DoldestD has been in the hospital since Sunday with chest pain. She has an arryhthmia besides but the pain is new. Released today to go home on some new meds.
:grouphug:

You know, I'm thinking we should have a meDIScal club section at dinner! All us sickly folk can get together at our own table! We can have DIS green MedicAlert bracelets and take turns demanding our fruity umbrella drinks! Alcohol? Well, I'm not driving and the doc says it's okay so.... BUT unlike the :snooty: Hot Club of the Minute in LA or New York, the only admission criteria is either a surgical scar or a bottle of prescription meds! (Says the guy who just picked up new bottles of 180 morphine tablets and 2 months os tramadol).

Sorry, day late on the check-in...meant to do it last night before going to bed and my tired state took over. We are so excited to be at the 30 day mark...my DS is sleeping with his little Disney Magic ship (that Yonkrs_Grl's family gave him from a past cruise) so even though he doesn't really understand the magnitude of what he's about to encounter, he knows he should be excited and he is!:yay:

I thought I hit pay dirt yesterday at CVS on water shoes....all their summer stuff is 40% off and the shoes were regularly $7.99 so a great deal....if they had the right size...mostly had girls sizes. But I pass that on as it may be a possibility for some of you.

I am on the hunt for a rash guard for my DS who is 5 so if anyone comes across one???? :confused3

Looking forward to meeting all of you!

Laurie

I found one at Target w/ an SPF 50. I think it was $10.

Jonesing: My Rx is an injector pen that I only need to take every 2 weeks and will have the great good fortune to NOT need to stab myself in the thigh while on the cruise! Is it okay if I join anyway? I have nice physical proof in my basically total lack of motion in my neck and wrists..

and and fellow Cruise goers: in exactly 28 hours, my husband will BE ALL THE WAY HOME from his deployment!!!!

My vacation is starting a leetle early... :cool1::cloud9::yay::cheer2:

my injector pens go in 3x a day if all goes well and the prescription bottles I keep to a mere 2 for this cruise, guess I better sign up too!

yay!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Mrsjvb, glad to hear your hubby will be home soon.

I haven't done updos in quite some time, but if I have time I would love to give it a shot. Since I have boys I only have my manikins to practice on. Yes, I'm a bit of a pack rat since that was 17 years ago. One time I had it set up on the kitchen counter, because you have a little stand that has to attach to a counter top. Anyway, I left the head on there when I went to bed. I couldn't sleep that night & got up to get some water. You guessed it... I thought there was a person in my kitchen!!!:scared1::scared1:

Jody - sounds like fun, but I guess my family would miss me on our trip down - especially my hubby - if he had to deal with the girls by himself all the way down there! :rotfl:

Oh, I am so hoping to leave early too, although not quite THAT early.....wow! Maybe 5:30 am? Oh, well, we'll see! :rolleyes1

Maybe we could put my DH and kids and your DH and kids together in one car, then you and I could ride down in peace and quiet.......that's fair right.....neither of them will be left alone to deal with the kids :rotfl:

Early........ my DH is up by 4AM EVERY day, even weekends and holidays. He does not like to waste time sleeping, he says he has better things to do with his time then sleep!. I am up by 5:30 everyday. We are very busy on the go people, so 3:30 will be no big deal for us

Wow - we are night owls and sleep late!!! I hope I see you on the cruise!! :rotfl2:

One month to go. :cool1: I am glad that we have all these talkers on board I would hate to be the only one. lol.

She ain't kidding about the talking!:lmao:

An I am glad someone named my affliction OCPD, Obsessive Cruise Planning Disorder, It make me feel so much better. What to buy, when to start packing, Will I have enough money for everything I want to do. ect. Have a great Month see you on the 19th.:dance3:
