if we have a 9:15 ADR for a party of 12 at Askerhus and the park opens at 9, will they let us in early so we are able to get there in enough time? My father is 73 and moves pretty slowly.

how late can you be to a dining reservation? I know he won't be able to walk quickly...wondering if i should just cancel the ADR and find somewhere outside of a park...

How many people are going? Is there a way for someone to walk with your father, and others to go ahead? How late would you think he will be?

Places will normally hold it for 5 -15 minutes. But it isn't guaranteed.

Are they still holding people at SE before RD? If so, you won't really have that far of a walk to make from 9:00 park open to your ADR. Luckily for you Norway is one of the closest countries. You can always send some of your party ahead. I seem to hear a lot about Akershus having a chaotic/slow/disorganized check in process. Hopefully that early, it won't be bad yet, but manage your expectations.

If you're still concerned, make your life easier and get a wheelchair or scooter. Or, switch the ADR to earlier or later. That ADR time is probably the worst time you could make it, in regards to touring. You don't get the advantage of early entry, and you're eating during the best time of day to be riding rides.

I would suggest trying to get it closer to 8 or later in the day......you MIGHT be let in around 8:45 but I wouldn't bank on it, and worse, with the park opening at 9:00 a.m. you will be caught in the stampede of people running to Frozen ever After which is exactly where you're headed, I don't think it would be a pleasant experience for your Father - my father is 77 and I would be really worried about people bumping into him and him trying to "keep up" with the rest of us. On a trip we took in March, we had a 9:30 Akershus reservation so I have done this particular route before. Check in will also be confusing, because the line will be building for Frozen while people are finding their way to the Akershus line as well. I knew where to go and what to do, but people around us were getting flustered because the line to check in to the restaurant was right where the line for the ride was building. It was a bit chaotic, so I would definitely try and change your time if you are able to so that you can really enjoy the experience without having to be caught in the mad dash to Anna and Elsa!
