9/11

Do you remember what you were doing on 9/11/01?
How old were you?
Did you understand what was going on at the time?
Did you know anyone who died on 9/11?

Well, it's 9/11 right now... so... let me see...

I was in school... my teacher didn't say anything about anything, but we did have to get on the bus ASAP and leave ASAP, and some of the teachers were crying.

I was in Kindergarden, 5 years old.

I had no idea... I didn't really understand it until I was older. But of course, now I know.

Personally, no, but I do know one of my old friends' uncle died :[

Do you remember what you were doing on 9/11/01? - I was sick with the stomach flu.

How old were you? - I was 12 years old!!

Did you understand what was going on at the time? - I knew exactly what was going on. I didn't sleep for like a week afterwards.

Did you know anyone who died on 9/11?A friend's stepdad died on the plane that crashed in PA. That was the hardest news to take.

I was at my grandma's house, 10 days before my 6th birthday. All I knew was that something terrible happened because I had never seen my grandmother cry. Then I went into the room where she had CNN on & I saw smoke, fire, people running, and people crying and screaming. I had no idea what really happened until my mom got home later that day.

I was 10 and in fifth grade. Our teacher had a TV, so we were watching the news on it.

I don't get how people care more about Michael Jackson's death and other worthless celebrity crap than events like 9/11...

I was in 4th grade, in the classroom. My teacher started crying and saying her sons were in New York at the time. I was 10 years old, and I understood that what happened was very wrong and that a lot of people died. That mean people killed people in our country. Thankfully no one I knew had died in the terror attack

I was 10. I was in 5th grade. My day went on as usual because the school didn't tell us anything.

And call me jaded or unamerican, but I always get tired of hearing about 9/11. I feel like the only reason we talk about it is because it was so recent and that it propelled us to war. There have been so many other tragedies that aren't recognized. I can't remember the last time I heard somebody mention the Oklahoma City Bombings or the '93 bombing of the WTC. I dunno. Not trying to start anything, just statin' my opinion and thoughts.

Death Toll and Injury Count -
Oklahoma City Bombings: 848.
1993 WTC Bombing: 1, 048.
September 11th Attacks: 9, 308.

Sorry, but as someone who had to watch several friends cry today because their loved ones are dead, I completely disagree. FWIW, I've heard both attacks talked about within the last 6 months. And they happened 16 and 14 years ago.

i was in the 4th grade when it happened.
i remember a teacher next door screaming and running into our room. (pods not closed classrooms)
it was a crazy day.:guilty:

I was 7.
I had just woken up and came down the hallway to see my mom watching the news. The first plane had flown into the WTC. As I watched I saw the second plane fly into the building. It was horrible.

R.I.P Those we lost.:littleangel:

I say this every year, and so does everyone else - but I can still remember how clear the sky was that day. Such a bright blue sky and not a cloud to be seen. It was eerie. I'm 2 hours from NYC on a good day so that says a lot.

did you guys do anything special in school for 9/11?

i remember in 6th grade we had the saddest assembly honoring those who lost their lives.
then after that, nothing.

i mean yesterday nobody talked about it at all.
we just brushed on it in french , by going off topic.
it was really sad, but i'm happy we talked about it at all.

Do you remember what you were doing on 9/11/01? Yup. I was in school. I remember what I had for lunch, because as soon as I was about to eat it, I had an escort take me down to the office to send me home.
How old were you? 8.
Did you understand what was going on at the time? Not at all.
Did you know anyone who died on 9/11? Fortunately, no.

Last night was my school's first football game of the season. In the 4th quarter, the refs stopped the clock at 9:11 left in the quarter. It stayed that way for a few minutes because they were doing official football stuff. And during that, someone had a watch or phone and pointed out that the time was 9:11.

:[

I know it's technically tomorrow, but I decided to post this now.

I can't believe it's been so long since it happened. 8 years :sad2:

I was in second grade, I believe. 7 years old, still quite young. I didn't get what was going on at all, just that it was very bad, and my parents were really upset. Our teachers wouldn't tell us anything (they said "ask your parents when you get home"). Now, of course, I understand what happened, and why it happened.

I don't know anyone who died on 9/11, but my friend, Kim (you may remember me posting about the accident that took her life this past May) was born 9/11/93. She would've been 16 tomorrow. There's a benefit concert for her tomorrow night.

No rude comments on this thread, please, as it's a serious subject.

wow... are you serious? my birthday was yesterday, and I turned 16. I cant beleive it
s been so long/ my dad comutes to DC everyday so he was there when the plane almost hit the pentagon. He needed to walk about 10 miles to a friends house, and he has a very bad knee. he's ok now but it was very scary.

I was asleep, my mom woke me up to hear the news. We were living in the Bay Area, CA at the time, so it was like.. 6AM-ish, I think?
I was... 7 at the time, in 2nd grade. I had NO idea what was going on, nor do I know anyone who died, and I'm sad to say I have no strong emotions when thinking about 9/11. That sounds a lot more awful than i meant it to, I do have a pang in my heart when I think of the dead, but I just never connected extreme sadness with the event.. D:

Do you remember what you were doing on 9/11/01?
In school.
How old were you? 3rd grade.
Did you understand what was going on at the time? No. But I realized something was up when teachers came with us on the way home. A lot of kids parents worked in the WTC (I live about 40 minutes away) and they wanted to make sure kids had parents to go home too. I turns out that a few kids parents never returned home...
Did you know anyone who died on 9/11? Many.

I will never forget 9/11.

That day will be forever remembered. I will never forget seeing thick black smoke above my house from the towers (which are 40 miles away from my house..)

I know it was a traumatic day for the whole country, but you won't know what it was like unless you live in NY, DC, or near the field in PA.

Like me, you may have found out that a good friends father or mother died.

There's one thing that everyone should know. The coward terrorists want you all dead. If they had their way they'd bomb every city from Seattle to Boston. Their hate for America in its citizens is larger than life.

Because you never know.

It could have happened to you.
