9/11 do u remember what you were doing when it happened?

I don't even remeber what i was doing five minutes ago.

I think i was probably in school. Year 5 to be exact. I can't remember anything else.

I was ten, and don't remember much of that day. Just the beginning, when my mom stayed in her pajamas, glued to the TV and looking heartbroken --I thought she was sick, honestly-- and the end, at dinner when my brothers were first fighting and then joking about things blowing up and she FREAKED. We hadn't been told anything until then, and she tried to explain to us what happened (without losing it, I think) but since I hadn't seen anything and didn't exactly understand the enormity of what happened, it didn't affect me until much later.

When I finally did find out everything, I was hit pretty hard.

I was in 3rd grade. As Sonya said, the sky was perfect, absolutely perfect. At school, everything was running normally. I live really close to the city. At lunch, an escort came to bring me downstairs. I was the fourth person to go home. I made him wait so I could get the lunch I ordered (chicken nuggets, to be exact.) We were walking down the middle staircase when I ran into two boys I normally don't talk to. They asked me how many kids left my class. I said I was the fourth. By noon, their class had 10 kids be picked up. I remember singing to myself, I get to go ho-ome. The escort told me to be quiet.

That's when I knew there was a problem. On the way home, my mom explained EVERYTHING. I didn't get it then.

I remember sitting in class and hearing over the innercom "TEACHERS PUT ON THE NEWS SOMETHING SERIOUS HAS HAPPENED!" And we were all little so we all freaked out.

I was in 6th grade, and the teachers weren't suppose to tell us what happened but it leaked out.

I was in the 7th grade (I think) sitting in my mom's car in a church parking lot when the first plane hit. They said something about it on the radio station she was listening to at the time and I remember her telling me to be quiet so she could hear what the dude was saying.

The second hit while I was in school, but I didn't realize it until I heard everyone talking and every teacher I had either had the tv's on the news or were talking to the class about what was going on. I just thought it was an average plane crash at first...but then the second one hit and all these people started getting pulled out of class.

That was when I started figuring out that SOMETHING was up.

i was in 1 st grade and i remember mom telling me on the way home and i didn't care . i regret that .

I was in school. I live an hour away from NYC so we had to have a lock-down. We were stuck in the closet for a while. It was very scary. We were little and we had no idea what was going on.

Same exact thing because I live on LI too.

I have no idea. I was in school, I know that...but I don't remember what I was doing.
):

i was in fourth grade and we ent through the school day not knowing what happened they had told the fifth graders and older. i remeber coming home and my mom telling me about it. i did not think it was a big deal but on my way to dance class it was alll over the radio then i figured it was a big deal

All i remember was that i was in school.
I remember the teachers telling us, but we didn't really understand.

I was in the library with my class and the librarians turned on the tv and we all watched until our parents picked us up.

I live on West Coast so it happened well I was sleeping.
But my mom woke me up and said there had been planes that had crash into the Towers in NYC
I had no clue what they were at the time
My mom was freaked out to send me to school but she called the school and the school said everything was fine
But I remember that alot kids didnt come that day.

I was in 6th grade..we watched it while we were getting ready and in morning daycare and class

i'll never forget anything about that day. it was like the most normal day ever.

the teachers started acting weird and they kept coming in and out of the class rooms. then my principal came over the intercom and called them all down to the cafeteria. about ten minutes later they came back and my teacher said, "You're safe here. Don't be afraid. But, some people have hurt some Americans. It happened really far away, and nothing will happen here. These people did it on purpose, because they dont like America, and a lot of innocent people have been killed by them. You're all going to go home early, and then your parents can tell you more about it" Then the principal came over the intercom and said "The Central Office has dismissed school. Parents are in the lobby trying to check children out. If a parent comes to the classroom, let the child go with them." after he said "dismissed school" no one cheered like they would have normally.

Now, I'll never forget that speech Mrs Johnson gave me, and I'm sure none of you will ever forget that day either, but I think what we should remember maybe even more than all of those who lost their lives, why don't we try to remember when we thought america was safe?

Do you remember how easy it was to fly?
Do you remember how the word "terrorism" was a new one in your vocabulary?
Do you remember when americans didn't die from fights on american soil?
Do you remember when airplanes weren't scary?
Do you remember when a day went by that a war wasn't on television?
Do you remember our naive innocence?
Do you remember September 10, 2001?

Not only did 2998 americans lose their lives on american soil, we lost so much more than that. we lost our comfort zone and we lost our innocence.

God bless their souls.

I was in 9th grade. I was actually in the ER the entire night before, so I stayed home from school on the 11th. I woke up and turned on the tv and saw one of the towers collaspe. I thought they were just demolishing a old building so I turned it off. Finally I found out what happened, so since I was at home, I watched the news coverage all day.

I'm from the UK, I was in school and noone told us. But we could tell something was going on. Then on the way home, my dad was telling me to shutup because "something has just happened, okay? Be quiet, you wont understand. Its important you be quiet" and basically I wasnt allowed to ask questions. I remember a lot of panic.

I don't only have thoughts for the firemen and Americans affected by 9/11, but 69 Brits that died from 9/11 also. And I am sure that many of the world had people that were killed by it.

My thoughts are with any one, not just based on nationality, who lost someone during 9/11.
