Hi All-

Well, we're 8 days from our sailing and things are not looking too good. What are your thoughts? I know we all have to wait it out and see what the port looks like, but what are you thinking as of know? We're scheduled to fly into MCO on Thursday morning and spend Thursday and Friday at WDW. I am wondering if the Magic will even be able to dock at PC? The signs seem pretty ominous right now and I am trying to keep a positive outlook but it's a little difficult....

***Disclaimer*** I know that there are actual people in harms way right now, and yes, I am more concerned about them than I am about what's going to happen to my vacation

Hi Erin. We are scheduled to fly into MCO Thursday as well. We are doing the land sea. We all hope that everyone is safe from the storm and wishing them all well. But I don't think it is also a conflict for us to still be planning for the best vacation possible for our families.

I think we will have better information on Monday about whether or not we will even have a vacation. Right now it looks like we can count out visiting CC. So, my hope is that we have a day at Cozumel instead. I'm not sure if I would be fine w/4 days at sea.

We will probably also add the ground transfers to our package, thinking that in the event we need to board from an alternative port, that Disney/Mears would be responsible for getting us there and back.

I also think because we are going AFTER a major storm, more likely hood that there will be some clear skies, but then again, I'm from Arizona where we only get 5 inches a year, so not really sure how that rain stuff works.

And if for some reason WDW is not operational at the end of next week, we just go on the 7 night cruise instead on Saturday instead of the 4 night Sunday...

Here's hoping that we all get a bit of Disney Magic!

Us Floridians know that everyone is thinking of us and we are in everone's prayers. Don't feel bad for worrying about your trip. We are set to sail on 9/9 and I am very worried about, and I still haven't taped up my windows or moved things inside. Good luck with your cruise, hopefully everything will work out for you.

I don't understand why you're saying things do not look good right now for your cruise that's in 8 days.

Frances will be out of Florida by Monday, possibly Tuesday at the latest...OIA is scheduled to open on Monday.....

Just don't understand the concern........

If it's Ivan you're concerned about...this is way too early to even predict what it may do..if you have a Western cruise planned, it may be more of an issue than it would if it was an Eastern journey.

I hope all goes well for you

gshoemate -

Hope to see you on the 9/9 Wonder and hope you're having fun because you made it SAFELY through Frances!

FYI, Barbie...The 9/11 cruise is a Western itinerary...go away Ivan...we've all had enough!

And Erin, let me second what GShoemate said...it's okay to worry about your vacation. Heck, I'm in the direct line of this storm and still concerned about our vacation.:earseek: Let's hope we all come out of this with minimal harm and damage:hyper: and are busy enjoying a Magical cruise eight days from today!

I understand exactly what you are saying. Everyone in the path of the storm is at the forefront of my prayers right now, but I'm also wondering how this will affect the 9/9 cruise. Right now, the anticipation is awful...I've been wondering about the fate of Castaway Cay, too. I'm so happy they got the CMs safely off and sad at the thought of what the hurricane did to that paradise. We have been fortunate enough to make it there 38 times, but I feel sorry for the people who haven't ever been there since I suspect the clean-up will take a while.

Barb... I was counting on your streak to extend to my cruise!!! Whenever I thought about missing CC, I would just think "Barb and Tony made it 38 times". Maybe I should have followed cruise #37!!!

I am glad to hear that everyone was exacuated not only off of CC, but off of the islands all together. Riding out a hurricane on an island is awful. It's good to know that they are safe.

I don't understand why you're saying things do not look good right now for your cruise that's in 8 days.

I'm worried because of damage to the port and the airport preventing the ship to dock/the planes to land. Ivan is on the perimeter of my worries right now.

Were doing the 9/11 Western and then a week at WDW, and I'm actually feeling cautiously optimistic. We're flying in Friday, and I imagine air travel shouldn't be too bad by then. I'm resigned to the idea of a "mystery cruise". I thought Cozumel was about the only sure thing for a port of call, but depending on where Ivan goes, that may not work either. As long as I get on the boat I'm happy.

I'm packing a bit more rain gear for our week at WDW, but I also imagine things will be pretty well back to normal at the resort by the 18th. If not, a stormy day at WDW beats even the best day at work!

So far Ivan is pretty far South and not too strong. I'm hoping my Jedi mind trick will work and it will just fizzle out at sea.

To all you wonderers:
I have cruised DCL 3 times - 3 day, 4 day 7 day - with kids (grand children) and without kids, bad weather resulting in changed ports, and cruises that go by the book - and believe me - a DCL cruise is GREAT no matter what cards Mother Nature deals! All you need is a POSITIVE attitude - all else will fall into place. The ship is wonderful, entertainment top notch, food/service great, staterooms above the rest - what more can you ask???? Focus more on your luck in being able to experience a wonderful time and you will forget the rest. Wherever you go you MAKE YOUR OWN GOOD TIMES!!!! I envy ANYONE who is able to go despite hurricane season! I have cruised several other lines, and NO One has EVER gone to the lengths DCL has in providing a top notch excursion for its guests. Smile - and the world will smile with you!!

ppiew,
Great thoughts!!!!

To all of you on the 9/11 cruise with us come see us on the 9/11 thread on the Cruise Meets board!

:jumping1: We ARE having a mini DIS meet onboard at 3:00 Saturday at the Mickey pool!:jumping1:
How is that for a positive attitude? ::yes::
And after that we will be enjoying a wonderful if mysterious cruise!:wave2:
