Hi All-

I just spoke with DCL and the CM told me that we should be figuring on PE for our departure. It's not set in stone yet, but apparently there was an influx of sand into the area making it impossible to dock the ships. DCL is working with the 9/9 cruisers first, then they will turn their attention to us.

FYI...

Thanks for the update. We sail a week after you, I wonder how extensive the damage it at PC. I guess we will learn more as time goes on.

That's funny because I just hung up from talking to DCL and they told me that NOTHING has changed and PC is still planned for Saturday departure!
She did say that CC was probably not in the picture but again she had no word for sure!

I've been in this business long enough to know that it all depends on who you talk to as to what information you get!
We could call back again and get a totally different answer!
I won't plan on anything until I hear officially!:wave2:

Go to FLORIDATODAY.COM and read the article SAND CLOSES BUSY PORT CANAVERAL..

That should end the speculation for a day or two.....

Oy! We were booked on the 9/11 cruise and had to cancel because I had a trial scheduled for that week. Now I'm not cursing the trial nearly as much!

Went to the Floridaytoday.com site and did not see that article but does anyone really care WHERE we leave from at this point?
I just want to be on the ship and have a safe, fun week!!:teeth:

OK...well, you have to scroll down....it doesn't just pop up.

It's below the pic of KSC.....

6th one down.....

Well, I read the article, and it doesn't make it sound good. I am no maritime official, but it would seem to me that dredging a port would take longer than a day.

does anyone really care WHERE we leave from at this point?

I do. It's going to be a logistical problem for me and lots of others. I understand that PC is not capable of receiving ships, and that's the fault of no one. DCL has no choice but to port elsewhere. The problem lies in what they do with you once they get you to the port. Three check-in agents is not sufficient or acceptable for 2500 people. Having the buses leave at once from all different areas is not acceptable. If you're going to have only 3 people available to receive guests, at least stagger the guests from the early morning to the late afternoon. DCL definitely needs to get on this quickly so as to avoid keeping people standing around for hours. There are better ways, in fact, Disney is known for their crowd control. DCL needs to get on the ball and wow its guests with its composure under pressure.

We'll just hope it opens soon for all those people out of work because of it being closed!:(

If PC can't open, not much anyone can do. We'll also hope DCL is doing what they can to make it smooth for everyone.
I'm sure they are sick and tired of trying to figure out what to do also!

Here's hoping for the best! :sunny:

Just took a look at the Port Everglades Harbor Master's report. They're expecting the Magic on saturday at 7am with a 6pm departure time. It looks like the 9/11 sailing will be from there. I go the following week and hopefully they'll have PC dredged by then.

I called DCL and hour ago, and they weren't willing to commit to anything. I don't mind leaving out of Port Everglades, but it would be nice if they could make up their minds and start notifying people. I have to change my transfer arrangements, and if they'd let me know far enough ahead of time, I could even fly into FLL without much trouble. I hope we get a least a day's notice! Lots of people come down the day before and don't have access to the internet, etc. while they're in transit.

DCL, make up your mind!!!

Hmmmmm, wonder if they have bathrooms on the bus going to Port Everglades for the 3.5 hour drive!?:scratchin :scared:

We need to be patient with DCL...they are doing the best they can. I can understand the frustration on everyone's part, esp. those of you traveling from out of state. (Those of us in state have plenty of frustrations of our own...such as should we leave our homes if hurricane #3 will be hitting FL while we are on a cruise!) DCL will get you to where you need to be...relax...isn't that what your vacation is for?!::yes:: (Say yes)

Take care all,
Tracy:sunny:

I believe some, if not most the of DCL transfer buses have bathrooms...at least the ones I have been on did!!!

They would have to have the ship on the report regardless. It's not like the Magic could just drive around looking for a parking space!!! ;) I'm sure that's a contingency plan, and that the Magic probably appears on the Harbor Master's Report for Saturday, 9/11 in Port Canaveral as well.

Hi MarcyInFlorida
Just a question? When you said that you had a trial and had to cancell was it more that 30 days out for a full refund. Thanks
