9-08-2010 Pirates through the Mediterranean/ Yo Ho! Yo Ho! A Pirates Life for Us

Hello all,

What are ya'll doing at the Villefranche port stop? I am thinking of going to the Chagall museum in Nice.

I have read that travelling the area by bus and train is quite easy and affordable. Is there a website that explains the bus and train system? I found the french site for the bus schedules, but I was hoping there might be a bit more information out there. I just want to plan as much as I can since I'll be doing this solo.

Thanks,
Marina

Hi Again
Only booked last Thursday and cant wait to see The envelope drop through the door still have some waiting to do though I expect. We are bringing our Granddaughter with us on the cruise she is Seven and her very first cruise, Anymore 7 year olds aboard? because we have booked so late I am busy rushing around getting her attired up wont have time to sort my own stuff out lol so I will be the one hanging about in rags whilst she is all spuced up  Love her to bits It is ok for DH he is popping stuff in the basket for himself so he should be well dressed too Oh well the things you do for  excited excited excited

Hi! We have a daughter that just turned 8. "Colorado Disney Freaks" has a daughter who is 9. So there should be a few around her age to play with. It is our first cruise and are extremely excited. Also a little overwhelmed trying to figure out the packing thing:)

Hi everyone! My name is Lisa (46). I will be traveling with my daughter Joanna (27) We just booked this cruise. We were supposed to be on the May 15th Med cruise but my daughter was hospitalized in ICU for 5 weeks and then I wound up in the hospital after that (horrible times but it's a miracle she is back to being normal). I am scrambling to get a flight now from Florida. We were hoping to leave a few days early and go Paris and Disneyland Paris. Anybody else doing a similar trip? Any help with flights would be soooo helpful at this point. :worship:
Can't wait to meet everyone. Don't know if the FE is still open but we would be up to it if it is a cabin gift. Carryon luggage too tight for individual gifts. :sad2:

So with International flights, do you get 1 bag free or 2? Actually, we're pretty lucky since there's 4 of us so we've got up to 4 bags, except we don't have 4 suitcases! :lmao:

We tend to pack pretty light anyway, and we're not bringing pirate costumes or anything, we are bringing nice clothes for formal night, but not "formal" clothes, just because we don't have space, and nice can double for Palo!

@ William- DH is active duty military too. He's planning to let his facial hair and regular hair grow so that he'll get a cut on board the ship after Tunisia just to be safe. Also, not sure if your branch will require it, but he had to go to a special briefing about leaving the country. They may be able to advise. We have young children and are doing the Disney excursion to Sidi Bou Said and Carthage.

About the rescue- holy cats! That's amazing!

Thanks for the link about hiking the blue trail. I still have planning to do for our other ports and tickets to purchase. I need to buckle down!

I was advised to not leave the ship by my security person, but plan on growing out a beard for a few days to cover me, and we are doing an organized tour, my wife picked one out, not sure exactly which Disney one it is...Too busy to worry about technicalities right now...

I may have missed this topic... but is anyone going to be in BCN the weekend before the cruise??
We will be arriving on Friday 3 September, and staying in an apartment.
Maybe we can schedule a pre cruise meet???

We are game if your are. :lmao::rotfl2:

Since your the resident expert on Barcelona, how about you pick a spot? We'll just tag along. :rotfl:

I know that it has been mentioned, but did we ever decide on the date, time and location of the on board meet and greet???

William mentioned 4:30 on the first sea day, but I don't think we ever specified a place. What's a good "usual" place? Diversions or the Promenade lounge maybe?

We are up for the 4:30 meet on the first sea day, just let us know the venue....... our documents have also arrived.......:dance3::dance3::dance3::laundy: this is what has to be done now in preparationpirate:pirate:pirate:pirate:

I have 2 kids ages 3 and 7, and I know quite a few families here who have kids that age, so I think our kids are going to have lots of friends to hang out with at the kids club

Does anyone have a good idea of what the earliest to plan to actually be in Rome is? I'm looking at tickets online of the Vatican and want to be sure I give us enough time to get there. We'll be traveling with 2 little ones who are usually up bright & early but don't want to assume that'll still be the case an ocean away :)
FYI- I did confirm that kids under 6 don't need tickets from their customer service folks. Talk about a weird feeling- emailing customer service at the VATICAN! :worship:

According to the Sailing Itinerary, we are due to dock in Civitavecchia at 7:45 am, so I would think from 8:30 - 9:00 would be a good time, although we are planning to go on the train with two little 2 1/2 year olds, so hopefully we can get an early start as well. This is such fun, bouncing ideas off each other. :)

8:30 is probably too early - train ride is over an hour. We are doing a private tour and it is just about an hour by car. However, I am guessing that there is a very good chance that we dock a bit early so if we are cleared to go offship early than you may have a chance at getting there by 9 or 9:30.

Sorry to post here but I know that DIS people are awesome.

Just got word of a troop that is in dire needs of help. :sad1: They are based 4 hrs outside the nearest base and could really use some help with care packages. THIS IS NOT FOR A LONG TERM COMMITMENT. This is more of a one time thing. Hope is that they can get a regular mail routine set up by the end of Sept. If you can help, the PO has flat rate discount boxes that you can mail for a bit cheaper than the regular cost.

Please PM me and let me know if you would like to help. I can direct you from there. Thank you to anyone that might be willing to help.

:littleangel:

We will be in Barcelona Tuesday/Wed if anyone wants to meet pre-boarding. Also up for the meet and greet 1st sea day at 4:30, just say where! Signed up for the Champagne girls too princess:

Ok, so I'm thinking I'm going to book a time at the Vatican a little later in the day. I am getting excited :) PacSafe bags are ordered, found a place to rent a lens for the trip for my DSLR and a guy that does one-on-one classes here to get me out of auto mode.

Less than a month people! :cool1:

Will be arriving in Barcelona, sometime during the afternoon of 7th, did you manage to sort out an hotel? Maybe we can touch base later in the afternoon, not sure what time we are arriving but hope not too late, so looking forward to meeting everyone......let us know where you are staying and we can take it from there.

Marie and Jon :)

Are you still planning to go hiking along the Blue Path between the Cinque Terre in La Spezia port? My husband, Chuck, hopes you are, he'd like to tag along. Been looking at the websites about the Cinque Terre! What a beautiful part of the country.....we could use 3 or 4 days there........but then we'd miss something else. oh, well.

We are getting stuff organized, no packing, just the "extras" that we might forget! :dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:
