9-08-2010 Pirates through the Mediterranean/ Yo Ho! Yo Ho! A Pirates Life for Us

It sounds like they are trying to keep everyone in their same rooms. I guess it is less luggage for them to move. That would be awesome if you were upgraded from a 10 to a 6. You should find out soon. I think DCL said 45 days out, which should be Sunday?? Good luck!!!
Michelle

I wish I could keep my same room from the Med to the TA! So far, we are still in an inside for the TA.....:sad1:

Awesome, congrats on the upgrade! You are just down the hall from us. Should be alot of fun.

So did you all want to meet up on the evening of the 1st sea day? Maybe at 1630 before first seating of dinner?

1630 on the first sea day works great for me right now, anyone else have any opinion? I'm getting really psyched about this now! (Like I could get any more!):lmao:

Meeting sounds great, but if I remember correctly from other posts, the muster drill is around 4:30. We might just want to check on that!

Well, no real pixie dust for me. :sad1:

I went from category 12 GTY to category 11.

Before I post my room number for the FE, I'm going to look into paying for an upgrade. I at least need a window, but want a verandah of course and DH will make my life miserable if I dont' get one. I was taking a gamble based on all the upgrades people were getting, but didn't pay off.

If you really want to gamble, you canwait until you get to the port to ask about paying for an upgrade. We did this on the Baltic...we went from an ocean view to a verandah and our friends paid extra to take our ocean view.

I am sorry, but I don't remember what we paid.

champagne girls!

Anyone interested in joining the Champagne Girls, Please pm me so I can make a list.

Also, I've decided to have the party in my stateroom on Thursday, Sept. 9 (first sea day).

  • Stateroom # 7636
  • Time is TBA
  • Bring a bottle of Champagne (either buy it on shore in Barcelona or get it from the Bar on the ship)

Please let me know your stateroom number and if you have your own tiara and boa.

Yes - I am thinking of doing that since I have a connection to someone who is wanting to upgrade out of their verandah room - but like you said, it is a gamble depending on room availability. It would be over 2k for me to upgrade now I think. If you remember how much you paid, that might help - but I know they were different categories and number of nights, so might not match up the same. Do you know if Disney discounts any upgrades as it closer to the sail time?

I think comparing this cruise to the one I took is like comparing apples to oranges, so it probably wouldn't help you at all. And I don't know about waiting either.....it's always a little bit of a gamble. We booked both this cruise and the WBTA at the same time, but we only got a verandah room for the Med, there weren't any handicapped accessible verandah's lefton the TA, so we took the inside, hoping to get a verandah, but it's a gamble, too! We know we'll be ok in the inside room, if necessary...but the other one would be better! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Yes, Michelle, I saw it. I think I will email the tour company to see how big the van is......Also, don't worry about the tour, if you can come, I am sure it will be fine. The price he quoted was for the whole day, anyway.
But I am going to buy the Vatican Museum and Coliseum tickets onlne so we don't have to wait in line. Connie

I just looked at the website for the HOHO bus in Barcelona, it looks like you can get on it near the Marina, near the Columbus Statue.

What's everyone doing in Rome? Disney tours or on your own tours?

hmmm? Connie

We are doing it on our own because we have been before. Will take the BIRG train and do St Peters Basilica first- then it will depend on my 3 y.o. mood - but buying Collosseum tickets ahead of time. I REALLY wanted to do a walking tour of the Vatican Museum since last time we didnt' have a guide and got in by the skin on our teeth - but I just don't think DD will have the patience or attention span for a 3 hour tour. We also might do the HOHO bus in Rome just for ease of use vs trying to figure out the metro or buses.

Hi there...we are doing Rome on our own too. It seems like I have spent hours researching Rome. You are so lucky as you already know where everything is. We plan to walk to the train station and will be doing St. Peter's Basilica first like you. (We have tickets to the Nacropolis at 10:15). Then, we plan to do the Vatican...not a tour, just walk through. We will be traveling with our 8 year old dd and a 12 year old ds and I know they do not want to spend 3 hours inside the Vatican. However, your 3 y/o may be more patient than our 12 y/o. The HOHO bus sounds good and I also heard that taxis are pretty reasonable in Rome. Good luck!

Hi Stacie, just wondering, where are you buying your Colosseum tickets? We are also planning to do Rome on our own and I am busy researching how to do it. Hopefully our other friends who are now coming on the cruise with us, will also be doing this trip with us and they are dependent on their 2 1/2 year old twins moods, as you are with Evie, perhaps we can put our heads together to pick each others brains..... speak soon, Marie :)
