Really? Do you think I should wait until then? I've never used AirTran - I'm skerred - but the price is so worth it. Do you buy the trip insurance? Help!

I don't buy trip insurance. Did you pay the extra money to get your seat assignment? If not, its like southwest and you get whatever is left over the day you show up. To me it was worth the extra $5 pp so we had seats together. It's $15 if you want exit row seating.

Yup - the extra $5 sounded worth it - and BONUS they didn't charge $5 more for the connecting flight! Me likey Airtran!

I wish they flew out of Manchester. At playgroup today my friend who's going to WDW in May can't even book her return flight on Southwest yet - the fares are released tomorrow, btw. I started to buy them for our May trip right away last February, but saved nearly $900 by waiting a few weeks.

Wow everyone's been busy over here huh?! I am in the middle of figuring out how much we wanna spend for this long weekend august trip to see how long we can squeeze out of the stay! LOL! If it comes down to it we will stay at Pop to get some extra days out of the fun! Now I just have to convince myself I won't melt in the heat!!!!!

Well, just put that last one to rest - you will melt in the heat. Now stop throwing stuff at me everybody - I think honesty is the best policy when it comes to August in FL. Just come in knowing what you'll be facing... AND how to wage battle!
1.Drink the water, drink the water, drink the water. Way more than you think you need.
2.Break every afternoon, either in water or AC. I know it's not always possible, but do try.
3. Early morning is your friend! Humidity's still high, but the sun isn't searing yet.
4. Ponytail or bun. 'Nough said.

As for cost... beer at Biergarten is half the cost of Lapus at the Poly - how's that for FDM?!

At least you remembered 2, I've dined with the loud family and can only remember K's name

Okay, I'm taking this moment to apologize in advance: I'm horrible with names. Great with faces, horrible with names. I'm embarassed to say that, while I do remember all of sharkB8's kids names... I'm a little fuzzy now on which name belongs to which child. I'm sorry sharkB8! I also called Jo's daughter by the wrong name (I was close, though!) when I first met her. So, my apologies to all if I get some wrong come August. I will try to study beforehand, though!

Um, not quote, but I second this idea! It's not horribly out of the way, and it's a beautiful drive if you cut through the mountains! Sadly, it does mean coming to FL via I-75 - not the most "fun" route, excepting the giant peanut and Cordele, GA - Watermelon Capital of the World.

Hi everyone! Sorry I've been MIA from this thread for awhile! I'm still working hard on getting the girls & I to WDW in August. We'll only be able to go for the big meet weekend... probably just Friday, Saturday, and go home on Sunday. It's not much, but at least we'll be able to meet everyone.

OK, so here's the thing... after a big upset yesterday, I now have some extra DVC points I can use for August. (I just found out that Jordan's college finals will be the 1st week of our big Christmas 2008 vacation. Long story short, we have to cut our December trip short by at least 3 days. I know! I know! Poor me! BUT, this is supposed to be our 20th Anniversary trip, so now I've got less time to work with to plan something fabulous. )

Sooo... where is everyone staying? Is AKV the place to be? I was thinking of getting a concierge villa so we could do the Sunrise Safari. Anyone else interested in that? I might even do one night at AKV concierge and then move to the Boardwalk the next day so we can walk back from the Epcot DIS Meet on the 23rd... I'm just thinking out loud here and wanted some input...

I just wanted to say I am impressed with the level of planning with your group. It is quite amazing. My family is going 8/24 - 8/30 and I haven't even thought about writing a daily schedule yet. You are all just amazing.
