Okay, so I noticed a mention of an 80's party on Barb and Tony's thread, and that it was on the Magic too. Did I understand this correctly? Ohhh I SOOOOOO hope so! I've been writing that on all three of my cruises as a suggestion!

The 70's party looked fun and all, but I can't do the Hustle or even the John Travolta dance. I HATE bell Bottoms and I don't own a single fly away collar shirt! I was 8 years old at the end of the 1970's, so while I can appreciate Disco, it was never big in my life.

On the other hand, I am a true child of the 80's! I can sing all the words to "Wake me up before you Go Go," I can recite "The Breakfast Club" from beginning to end, and I can do the Cabbage Patch as well as the Safety Dance!

That would ROCK!

Who is gonna have to pull out her jelly bracelets, paint sploched shirts, bright pink lace gloves and blue eye shadow.

We have been on 6 DCL cruises, but this last one on 8/3 on the Magic was the first time we experienced the 80's night onboard.

Basically it is a battle of the bands between Bon Jovi and the GO GO's....they pick people from the audience and then they dress up and go on stage and lip sync to a Bon Jovi and a GO GO song. The audience decides which band did a better job. They play 80's music after the competition. The cast from the main theatre also does a dance to thriller that was pretty neat.

My DD18 was picked as one of the GO GO's on this cruise and she had a ball. If you are picked, be advised that you have to go to a separate private room and take off your clothes and put on a towel around your body and a towel on your head!!! My DD was a bit nervous about this but the cruise staff told her they never lost a towel yet!!!!

Check out this link for some pics of the GO GO's at 80's night. Easiest way to view it is by clicking the slide show link.

The cruise staff on the Magic is awesome...they really try to get everyone involved on each of the theme nights. We had our best time at 50's night. The way the cruise staff gets into character is just too funny!!!

80s night was my favorite club night. The Disney dancers come out three times and dance. In between club patrons dance to 80s music. At the end Bon Jovi and The GoGos compete. That part is ok not great. They also get other people in the club to answer 80s trivia questions for free drinks from the bar. This night was a blast and much more fun than 50s night (second favorite) and 70s night (they took too long with the Gloria Gaynor and John Travolta bit)

:smooth:

Where do they hold the 80's party? Can kids go, I doubt whether mine will let me get away without them!

These parties are held in Wavebands/Rockin' Bar D in the adult nightclub area and it's for 18 and older only.

80s night sounds like fun, I've done 50s/60s and 70s and am looking forward to trying this one! :)
