We've noticed that the water tastes worse at some resorts than others - we could not stomach the tap water at BLT, and we also noticed a slight odor to the water when we showered. But at BC and BWV the water tasted fine to us. :confused3

Same here! The only time I really thought the water was just horrid was at the Poly. When I took a shower it stunk and none of us could drink what came out of the tap in our room. Later that week we moved to Old Key West and I found the water fine. But at the Poly, I literally had to rinse my mouth with bottled water when I brushed my teeth. I also noticed when I got a dirnk from a fountain at the GF it also had that same nasty smell and taste. I told my dh maybe they took it right out of Bay Lake at the monorail resorts! Because honestly we have stayed in pretty much all areas of WDW and it was only at the Poly I thought it was undrinkable.

Get ice from the ice machine, and let it melt overnight. In the morning you will have normal tasting water. Trust me, it works. I don't mind the water too much. I noticed if you swallow it real quick you can hardly taste it.

We did this too, and it really does work. We even asked housekeeping for an extra ice bucket so there would be plenty for making coffee, brushing teeth, etc....:drinking1 I couldn't even drink the water with add-ins, just tasted and smelled too bad. The only places I found where I could drink the water (DH said it didn't bother him too much) was at the Brown Derby and Narcoossee's. I always add lemon to my water but it really wasn't necessary. Just be sure to line the bucket with the plastic bag first!

It all just tastes like "hotel water" to me. Many hotels also use some sort of softening agent that I think has an impact.

The funny thing is, I literally just returned from a weekend in Washington DC. When I drank the water at the hotel, it reminded me of Disney!

You can get filtered water-for free- out of the CS soda machine at the resort restaurants-I think that it is fine.

Some things in Florida don't change. I've been here for 30 years and the water still is nasty. Drink bottled or add flavoring. It's Florida.

I've lived on both the Atlantic and Gulf coasts and it all tastes and smells bad. As a PP's said, it has to do with the water percolating up through the ancient limestone sea-bed that we like to call Florida.

I won't even drink it here at home. I drink bottled water only.

I'm from southern california, and both my SO and I think the water tastes BETTER in florida. Our water is disgusting.

That's Florida water for you! Once when we stayed at Universal's Royal Pacific they added so much chlorine to the water it smelled - and tasted - like they had pulled it right out of the pool.

When I moved here last year, I let the water run in the sink for like 15 min. hoping the sulphur smell would go away and that it was related to the newly refurbished apartment I was in. Nope...it's Florida water.

I love my Brita pitcher! :)

Icky---something between sulferish and sewer!!

When the DH read this post, he laughed, out loud! Out of a family of three, DH, myself and DSD, I am the only one that has EVER complained about the water!

My DH was born in Florida, then moved and spent a good portion of his life in coastal NC. I on the other hand, was born, raised and never left, central NC. So maybe that's it. Coastal water/versus country/city water....there is a difference!

The smell of Florida water, even in the shower, makes me GAG, so I get what you're saying....buy a case or two of bottled water, keep a few bottles at room temp so that you can use it for toothbrushing. It's an easy fix, just hold your nose while showering!

It's Florida. The water here is disgusting, and having to shower with it daily I guess I am just used to it. I don't think there's a single person that lives in FL that can survive without a water purifier.

I haven't drunk straight tap water in years.

Also, instead of using all of that plastic (and money!) buying bottled water, consider bringing a Britta/Pur water pitcher or a faucet-attached filter and fill up reusable water bottles instead.

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

i hate the taste of florida water but on the other hand i love the smell of it! the smell gives me a kinda welcome home feeling! wish i could smell a hot florida shower right now!:)

So we get to bathe and brush our teeth in reclaimed swamp water? Nice! It's what Shrek would do if he was into personal hygene...

I'm struggling with this because I'll have to mix formula while I am there, and do NOT want to use the water! I think since we are driving we'll buy gallons of water to bring - or does the Brita pitcher really work that well to make the water taste better?

I would bring bottled water to make formula for my baby.

I use a Brita pitcher at home and it makes the water quite drinkable to me.

There's nothing wrong explicitly with the quality of Florida water. It just sometimes has a rather strong sulphur smell and it makes it hard for some people to drink.

I would too!

Here in WI, we have EXCELLENT water...I really mean it! I drink out of my sink and fridge all day long! I don't even know what a purifier thing is that some people are mentioning here.

I hardly drank any water at Disney because it tasted so bad everywhere. I didn't want to pay the $3 per bottle for water....that is a crazy price!
