I think 8 x 8 albums are so cute! I have never done one. If you have seen any of my layouts you see that I have a photo fetish and put too many pictures on layouts! My camera is an addiction of mine and I admit that I can't put it down, especially on trips.:confused3 My DH and I just booked a last minute cruise for springbreak for just the two of us (early anniversary present). I am super excited, even though I was slightly sad it is not on DCL for about 30 seconds (too much money and we just went on one in March 2010). I am sure it will still be wonderful though! Since I won't have my kiddos with me, I am going to try to set the camera down more-:scared1: I am thinking I will have less pictures than a normal vacay, and am thinking of doing an 8 x 8 album? I am probably being crazy, because I will probably still come home with hundreds of pictures, but just an idea. Anyone still reading this after all of my ramblings? :lmao: Any thoughts?

Over the last few weeks I've picked up 8x8 scrapbook albums on the cheap. I have done 6x6 scrapbooks for my mother and son. When I've made those, I've made 2 picture collages on 4x6 paper with an online photo development site. The pictures are small enough to fit on the page along with some journal tags and embellishments.

That's what I plan to do when I start making the 8x8 scrapbooks.

My daughter and I made an 8x8 scrapbook for my great niece's first birthday party. I'm a photobug myself, so it could have easily been a 12x12. You can get just as many pictures on a page, just make them smaller...I use Picasa, but there is another program where you can make collages onto 4x6s or 5x7s.

I'll post some photos tonight. For the most part, we used 2x3 photos and were able to get 4 on an 8x8 page. We did a few 4x6, especially of the birthday girl and her cake and stuff.

I do a lot of 8x8's especially for 'occasions' such as the cruise you mention. EVEN though I still may take a lot of photos - I tend to use one excellent representative photo on a page with relatively more journaling & embellishments. And here are some pages that say otherwise, lol.

I have quite a few 8x8 albums for DD's singleton WDW trip and all my SDV trips.

If you don't crop with your camera to much you can still print 4x6 and trim, or you can do photo collages to get more pics on 4x6.

I love 8x8!

I think it's fun to switch things up a bit!

I have made albums in all sizes - 12x12, 8x8, 8.5x11, 6x6 and even mini books.

Enjoy your cruise!

Working on my own 8 x 8 now. My prints are mainly 3 x 5 with some trimming. I'm getting 3-4 per page plus embellishments.

It wasn't a camera crazy trip, I am totally cheating Sea World layouts with postcards. But the mini postcards are just the right size for certain aspects. :rolleyes1

I did an 8x8 album of our trip to Disney World. We took my parents and I was making the album to give to them -- except that I finished it with over 60 pages! I ended up splitting them into three albums and keeping them for myself.

My goal had been to keep it short and simple and then scrapbook everything again later with the rest of the photos. I just didn't realize how many characters we had visited -- there are very few pages that weren't characters w/autographs.

I normally do 12x12, and the 8x8 was a lot of fun to do! I stuck with one paper line (Basic Grey Gypsy) and variations of three or four designs. It went relatively quickly, doing it that way.

I think you could absolutely do a highlight album of your trip in 8x8, and then if you have more photos to scrapbook, you could do them too in your regular album, if you don't mind scrapping some of the photos twice. That way you could have the memories done both ways -- cluttered and big for one and small and easy to share for the other.
