After reading the post below on AKL, just wondering if 8 nights is too long at POR. We were looking forward to not moving as it is our first time on site and we haven't been to WDW in 9 years, but.... after reading that post I am starting to wonder.

Also, on other family vacations we tend to stay 3 or 4 nights in each area and then move - just hate the thought of packing though.

We would probably have to move to another moderate or value resort. Is it worth moving? Thanks for any help.:D

DW and I have stayed at the POR 2x, and thinks it's the best moderate resort on property. We could easily stay 8, 9, 10 nights or more. Remember that you can always resort-hop to get a taste of the other WDW resorts. It's one of our favorite activities at the World.

I personally would stay all 8 nights. They have a great foodcourt, plus a nice restaurant is you want to eat every night at your resort and very easy access with both boats and buses if you want to try DTD instead. The landscaping is very beautiful and relaxing and the rooms are very nice. You are central to all the parks, it never takes very long to travel by bus (our longest trip was about 15 mins to AK). The quiet pools are fantastic and the main pool has just been redone. You could take a fishing excursion or rent a bike for a leisurely ride around POR and POFQ. It just doesn't seem worth it to me to pack and spend time checking in at a new resort. The only time I would even consider it would be to move to a deluxe. For a mod or value it would be too much effort.

We stayed 8 nights at POR in 2001 and I think that it was one of our best stays. It is relaxing and has a wonderful food court. It never seemed to busy and the lounge is great. They have bikes to ride, fishing, boats to DTD and it is a great resort to take a late night walk in. I hate moving around once I get there that is where I like to stay. So I personally would not move. Enjoy your stay:)

No way is 8 nights too long. Take a look at my signature and you can tell how much we love this place!! You will love it too. The only thing that I wish someone had told me before our first trip was to make sure you get a room near the food court. How many in your family? If you are staying in Alligator Bayou section, call a few days before your arrival (ask for front desk) and request bldg. 14 or 15. These are very close to the main bldg (check in), bus stop and food court...a fabulous location. Someone else can help you out if your staying in the mansion section. The main pool is a blast, the slide is so much fun!!! I use it more than my kids. :D The frozen drinks are wonderful at the pool (only at the main pool though, not at the quiet ones). And the jacuzzi is wonderful after all the walking at the parks. Make sure you take one night to take a ride on the boat to downtown disney, its great. Have a super trip and feel free to email me or ask any more questions, ok? :D

It is only to long if YOU think it will be. Lots of people like to settle in and relaxe and not move. I personally move 2-3 times at WDW but I only unpack what I will need and then put the used clothes back into the suit case as I use them. I also like to take the opportunity to try other resorts. It only takes a few minutes to pack. Of course I don't have children or a SO to take care of or watchover. POR is a beautiful place and easy to spend time at.

Unpack, relax, and stay put! You won't run out of things to see or do, I promise you. We stayed for 9 nights during our second trip last summer and didn't even have time to fully look around the resort.

We stayed at POR last summer for 11 nights. It was the most relaxing vacation we have EVER had. It was wonderful!! We unpacked and put our suitcases under the bed and made ourselves at HOME! Enjoy!!
