8 days too much?

We are driving down and staying at Fort Wilderness, renting a camper. Our kids are 6, 2, and 1 at the time of our trip. Because of the ages and personalities, we are planning to be VERY flexible, spend a lot of time just relaxing, etc. but still want to get the most out of the parks. We are hoping to go in late April 2016. I was hoping to do about 4-5 hours in the park every morning, go back for the afternoon and dinner to relax, swim, nap, etc. and then we would end up either staying at the Fort, taking turns taking our oldest back into the park, or all going together.
We are going to be arriving around noon on Saturday and leaving the following Saturday or Sunday. Would 8 days be too many, should we cut back to 6? Or will we find plenty to do to fill them with those ages? Sorry, first time in over a dozen years and first time with kids!

I meant for park tickets, BTW, not just staying...we would stay there the same amount of time no matter what!

Personally, I find 8 days too many, but you can always do 6 and upgrade to 8 on the last day of tix if you want to go back. Then again, it's only about $20 more so not a huge deal if they went to waste.

I agree get six day tickets but if on your last day you think you would want more then just upgrade before leaving the park. 8 days in a row at the parks is a lot. Maybe consider park hoppers, so you could do any park in the morning using buses and then just take the boat over to MK in the evenings when you wanted extra park time.
There is lots to do at FW so a non-park day is a good idea, you could also plan a trip to Disney springs on one day for a visit to Lego shop amongst other things.

Benefit to an 8 day ticket is you can book 8 days of FP even if you end up taking a break and skipping the park one day, you are only eating $20 or so per person for 8 days as opposed to 6 day tickets

With the obvious caveat that your question cannot be answered definitively, (as if there is a "right" or "wrong" answer), I can only give you my opinion. I would find 8 days at the parks with a 1 and 2 year old to be too long, too taxing and too repetitive. I could probably do 8 days with a 6 year old, but that might be pushing it even still. And I am taking into account employing a leisurely schedule. There just isn't enough for a 1 year old or a 2 year old to do without doing the same things over and over again. When my daughter was 2, she was perfectly happy riding on the monorail and going to a character meal at a resort and splashing in a kiddie pool. Indeed, going to the parks was her least favorite thing about WDW back then. We would buy 3 day tickets and spend a day at SW, and then hang out at the resorts the rest of the time.

I would cut back to 6. As an adult I find I need a break day from the parks after 4 or 5 days.

We just did 7 but we did a pool day and a Disney Springs day. And I still wished we had more days.....sad to leave....I always want more days.

I think the question isn't really "is 8 days too much". I think the question is "is 8 days too much on an 8 day trip"? In which case I would say yes.
...and...one has to take into consideration of the ages of the kids. Lots of us grew into trips where we spent 8+ days in the Disney parks. Few of us started out with such trips with kids who are 2 and under.

I will further clarify and say that while I think GOING to the park 8 days is too much, having an 8 day ticket may not be...Being able to book fastpasses for all 8 days, even if you only go for 6, may be worth the extra $20 per person. Also, you may decide you just want to go to Epcot for dinner one night.

I've done 14 days at WDW/Universal and spent 10 days in the WDW parks and water parks. I didn't find it too much, because I didn't do rope drop to closing everyday. If I had, I would probably have burned out after 6 days.

My question is, why rent a camper and stay at ft wilderness. The spots with full hook ups are as expensive if not more than a value resort. With the added cost of an Rv and the spot, you are probably paying the same as a moderate.

I'd split the numbers and go for 7 days of tickets. With those ages my guess is you will want a down day at some point. If you do 7 days you can still upgrade if you decide you need 1 more day, but if you only end up going for 6 days you are only out $30 rather then $60 for the 2 extra days.

Personally I want tickets for my entire stay, but I can get 8/14/21 day tickets to suit my needs... Can you add the extra day(s) later if you want them? :)
