8/6/2012 - Mickey's Alaskan Adventure

We are actually on March 31 2012, but I keep calling it April.

Oh well, that would have been pretty funny!

Here is what I ended up with...

Skagway...White Pass Railway and Trail Camp

Juneau...Alaska Whales and Rainforest Trails

Ketchikan...no activities planned at this point

Victoria...Palo Brunch

Looks like a great schedule. It's great that you were able to get Palo Brunch!

I get to book my excursions tonight! Yea! Here is what we are thinking, please give me input if you'd like.

Skagway
Grizzly Falls Zipline. (was called Mammoth Falls last year), Dh, Dd12, and Ds 10. We saw videos of this my friend did last year.

Yukon Exploration/White Pass RR, Me and Ds 4 (who is obsessed with all things train)

Juneau
Best of Juneau
Or
Deluxe Tour

Can't decide which. Other thought is Mt. Roberts Tram

Ketchikan

Trying to decide if we should just walk around or spend the $$$ for the Misty Forjd Seaplane

Victoria

We will just walk around the city. I am fairly familiar with the city so we will just hang out here.

I think all of them sound great. I don't think you can go wrong! I debated on Misty Fjords, too. Good luck tonight. Let us know what you end up with!
Starting to get very excited about this trip! We are first time Disney cruisers and we're bringing a whole slew of people:)

My immediate family has 5 - me, DH, DD13, DS9, DS8

We also have 22 other people in our family that will be on the cruise. We'll probably have at least one day of bright colored matching shirts, so you may see us:)

Will be booking excursions in 13 days and here is what I'm looking at:
Skagway - White Pass Railway & Trail Camp
Juneau - Alaska Whales & Science Adventure (or maybe Best of Juneau)
Ketchikan - Totems, Lumberjack, Potlatch Park

Any thoughts on these would be greatly appreciated!

We Booked the Same...except we did Best of Juneau!
:yay:

See you in August!:banana::banana:
I just tried to post a PM for FE's, however, if you haven't posted a certain number of times they won't let you PM other people :-(
Any suggestions other than posting 10 times on this board and making you guys crazy?:rotfl2:

I am in the same boat and have not posted enough to PM...any advice?

Yes, that many staterooms can be crazy. The first two we did that were like that I had help but for the Fantasy MV I had to do it all by myself because my family were all being party poopers. It wasn't NEARLY so much fun doing it alone, let me tell you!

What I did was bring things that I could assemble on the ship. So they didn't take up a lot of space and I could tuck the individual parts in nooks and crannies of the suitcases. This trip it won't be anywhere near so hard since it's looking like we'll have less than 10 staterooms! You may all even get MORE than one gift from me!

Alison found a bunch of schools she likes, but with her particular degree it's less about which schools she likes (at first) and more about which schools like her! She had to audition for entrance (in addition to the regular application process where she had to submit all the normal essays, scores, transcripts, letters of recommendation, etc.) which is EXTREMELY competitive. For some programs there are 1000 or more kids auditioning for anywhere from 8-30 slots.

Because it's so competitive, she ended up auditioning/applying to 21 schools all over the country. (A few she decided not to apply to after auditioning. Others she decided not to audition for after applying. And a few were non-audition "safety" schools. She ended up with 8 choices when all was said and done. She is wait listed at 3 more, but she's done. She had a really difficult choice to make but ended up deciding on Otterbein University in Westerville, OH. They only take 4 girls and 4 boys out of the hundreds who audition, so it's quite an honor to be chosen. Not sure how she's going to handle the winters, coming from sunny Southern California!

Looking forward to meeting all of you on the cruise! Seems like there's probably too small a group for a Champagne Girls meet, but if anyone's interested, let me know and maybe we can try to set a time. Also with only one full sea day it might be tough to find a time.
We live in New Albany, next to Westerville...Otterbein has a great campus in a great community

Timmsli: Here is the link to the FE document. I will delete the link once you've had a chance to enter your info. Please post to confirm once you have signed up.

I'm so glad to hear that! We'll be taking here there the weekend after we get back from this cruise and it will be my first time seeing it. It seems like a great place but you just never know. Sending your kid off to school all the way across the country is pretty scary!

Still no excursions booked. Graduation is next Saturday. Maybe after that I'll have time to research!

Hi... haven't checked into the board in quite a while. We have been busy this week planning excursions & spa treatments. Yay! I am ordering a fish extenders for our staterooms today. I am also getting an FE for friends who are sailing too. I am not sure if I am going to "officially" participate in the Fish Exchange, or if I am going to keep it just to our staterooms (I am pretty sure my friends will not do a ship-wide FE) I'll have to wait and see. About how many families are doing this?

So excited. Now I need to go read through some of these older posts to catch up with everyone again! :wizard:

I have had fun planning our activities. This is our list.... so far:

Day 2 ~ At Sea: Collagen Facial
Day 3 ~ Tracy Arm: Couples Swedish Massage
Day 4 ~ Skagway: Glacier Lake Kayak & White Pass Rail Adventure
Day 5 ~ Juneau: The "Men-Folk" are taking the Salmon Sportfishing Adventure and the rest of the party are headed to The Sled Dog Discovery & Musher's Camp
Day 6 ~ Ketchikan: The Great Alaskan Lumberjack (I have to see it!)
Day 7 ~ Victoria: Horse-Drawn Trolley Tour

Couldn't book Palo for a time that worked with our schedule. I'll check back from time to time to see if something opens up for us.

Won't be long now!:wizard:

Thanks CalFan - If it is less than 15... sign me up! We will have 2 staterooms for our family of 5 (worked out cheaper & we get 2 bathrooms!). Like I said, don't think our friends will do it, but I can ask. If you post the link to the form, I can get it right now.:wizard:

Do we get to pick which day we have our character meal? If so when do we do that?:wizard:

My experience has been that the character breakfast date and time is assigned to you, and there is either info in your stateroom when you board to indicate the date and time you have been assigned or that info is communicated to you at the first dinner in the MDR.

That's what I remember, too.

Sounds like a great schedule! Hopefully Palo will open up or you can get something when you get on the ship. I can't believe how soon it's coming up, although I'm going on the Fantasy even sooner--I leave in 19 days! I can't believe I'm doing two cruises this summer but the last minute DVC deal they had for the Fantasy a few weeks ago was too good to pass up.
