Hi all,

At my meeting last night she took a survey from everyone, about how we liked the new flex points system.

Everyone seemed to like it. It seems that most people see this as easier, and there is less guilt associated with being able to eat at social situations. You are able to have that meal where you eat more, or have the hamburger at a picnic. It allows you to do it at the beginning or the end of the week. Some people didn't use them all, and others felt like it was a "free pass" to eat more. I am in that "free pass" line! I basically made sure I ate more during the week, but I used the extra points for milk products and more fruit.

The topic for the meeting was:
17 words for every situation
She rattled off a little story about a man who had 17 words for every situation he was in. If he needed to come up with an answer, needed help etc, he would look at his words and be able to come up with a solution using these words. She then asked us to look at the words and find 2 words that we could use to help us with our weight loss next week.

The words were:
Prepare
Care
Believe
Change
Forgive
Risk
Listen
Choose
Relax
Smile
Persist
Focus
Trust
Accept
Pray
Act
Wait

I picked Believe because I will believe that the new flex plan will help me loose weight even though I am eating more now. Relax because I will be going away for a long weekend and I very much need some relax time (no kids on this trip).

We talked about upcoming challenges. For those of you that don't go to meetings, (even those that do), share your upcoming challenges and maybe you will get some ideas to get through that challenge. One girl was diagnosed with some type of blood sugar problem, so she got ideas on dividing her meals in half and eating twice as often, but in smaller amounts. Ideas about good snack ideas that give a balance of protien and carbs.

Thanks Melanie!!! It is great to hear about the meetings! :)
I am undecided on the Flex plan...I am doing it, but I feel like there is no way I can lose eating this much....well, we will see! :)
I did go under my points yesterday, but was okay with it since the day before I had used enough Flex points....

My words would be:
Accept: I will accept that my body type and structure will not change. But that I can become more fit and healthy continuing with exercise and healthy eating.

Smile: I will smile when I pass a mirror. I will smile when I workout. I will smile knowing that my hardwork has paid off!

Thanks again Mel! :)

Thanks for sharing this, Melanie. My two words for this week are:

Persist - I'm feeling sick, and have just returned from WDW. I need to persist to get myself back on the Curves/WATP exercise track!

Relax - things are crazy at work this week, and getting things ready for my dd first day of school -- I need to remember to relax (and not with an Aero bar in hand!!!)

Well I am not doing the new flex points thing since I like my old way better (can you tell I don't do well with change ;) ) but I still really think that it is a great idea to have the meeting topics posted here for those of us doing it on our own.

My two words would have to be persist and prepare.

Persist with my new exercise plan. I took the night off yesterday because I was just too sore from this weekend but I don't want to let my night off become a weeks worth of nights off.

Prepare for my family visiting us this weekend. I love seeing my family but sometimes the visits can be just a tad bit stressful. Plus I always never know what to cook for them. Dad will turn up his nose at many healthy choices and I feel like I need to prepare meals that they will enjoy - often times those will not work real well with my plan. I need to make a plan for this weekend and then attempt to stick with it.

Melanie - Thanks agan for taking on this duty of posing WW topics for us all. I think it will really help everyone share and be successful in this journey.

My first word is going to be PREPARE. I am going to go to my mom's cabin for the long Labor Day weekend with a huge group of family members. Lets just say that this weekend is an excuse to eat tons of food, snack all day long, set out buffets of breads, chips, candy, etc., and just eat the weekend away. I am not even sure how to begin to prepare for this right now. To top it all of, everyone (including mom) is saying that I have done such a great job I should just take the whole weekend off! Yikes, that would be bad. I really have to plan this weekend out before I go to help me be prepared with how I am going to not pig out. I am thinking of what foods I can bring to add to the buffet table that is set 24 hours a day. I also need to think of how I am going to feel and react when I see all the foods I love sitting out there all day long. Additionally, everyone just sits around most of the weekend. There will not be a tv or a place to do the pilates I have been doing every day. It is going to be my most challenging weekend yet.

My second word is BELIEVE. I have not been losing pounds these past 2 weeks which is so frustrating. I am working at believing that even without showing a loss on the scale I am being successful. I know that I am making healthy choices in my life, I am benefiting from all of the exercising that I am doing and that this is a good thing. I am working at believing the weight will come off if I just stay on track.

Interesting topic!

For this week I am going to try to FOCUS on myself (really going thru some bad things with my dad's health. He is in and out of the hospital, etc.) and ACT by eating per the plan. I'm a great one for reading and watching TV shows on weight loss, but getting up and doing it is the key!
