8/24 Roll Call!!

Still looking for more people on the 8/24 Magic. It's getting closer and we want more!!!

Has anyone decided if we want to do the purple or the yellow ribbons? I know, I know I'm pushing things. Just too excited to be patient.

I'm starting to make packing lists at this point. :D

Have you all thought about your shore excursions? We can book them starting in a couple of weeks.

I think we're going to do the "Under Two Flags" tour in St. Maarten, and maybe the walking tour in St. Thomas.

We're not really huge "beachy" people, and figure if the weather is nice, we'll just take a cab to the beach when we finish the tour, otherwise we'll just get back on board and relax by what should be fairly empty pools.

DS (16) is going to do the Teen Regatta in St. Maarten, and I think just stay on the ship in St. Thomas--we haven't decided for sure yet. At CC I want him to do the Wildside, but he's saying he wants to just play on the teen beach, so maybe...

What's everytone else doing, and what are your kids doing?

I think we are just going to do our own thing. We are big beach people so for the most part we will hang out at the beaches. We are still trying to decide whether to buy our own snorkling gear. It would probably be the only time we every use it so it doesn't sound like a real good idea.

DS9 is really excited. He really wants to try snorkling so he can see the different kinds of fish.

It is a DIS tradition that one wears lime green ribbons to identify himself to another DISer. Not that that is set in stone. Just a suggestion.

My TA said we wouldn't be able to book excursions until we were on the boat. Is this true? If we can book in advance does the info come to the TA or directly to my house? My TA is taking the summer off so she won't even be working when it's time for us to go. Also how far in advance do we get the travel documents?
thanks, its obvious we're a first time cruiser family isn't it!

You can book your excursions 60 days in advance either through DCL or on your own. If you received the brochure it explains the excursions in it or you can go to Disneycruise.com and go through the menu. It has excursions on it explaining the different types of excursions. Hope this helps. I'm sure others have more to say.

Can't wait to meet you.

ducklite, I found the answer to the bizybea question on the cruise list thread. They have changed their plans and are crusing on 12/14 instead. It's funny I just came across her meassage there and remember someone had asked.

I just saw another thread that said if 8 or more people book through Dreams Unlimited, then Disney will have a gift in the stateroom when we board. I am curious to see how many people booked through DU for the 8/24 cruise...

Gee, time really is flying! My golden puppies were born on Monday night, so I KNOW the time will really fly until our cruise! I got the request for final payment from our AAA TA and so I guess we REALLY are going on a cruise! Our room # is 6508 and I would love to see other DISer's. The lime green ribbons sound good to me! I wouldn't want to break a DIS tradition! :o)
If anybody finds any good deals on snorkle gear will you please pass the info on? We are still trying to decide to buy or rent.

We booked through DU.

I got a great deal on snorkel gear. It was only $25 a set at BJ's. It includes a snorkel, mask and fins with a really nice case that has mesh areas for drainage. I saw the same exact gear at Land's End for $79 a few months ago.

I made my final payment over a week ago. That's when it really sunk in! Now I'm just counting the days until I can call to book shore excurions, etc.

ducklite, what shore excursions are you doing? We haven't decided whether we want to do excursions on just do stuff on our own?

We are still debating on whether to buy or rent snorkle equipment.

Has anyone experienced the LAP dining rotation on a cruise. It would mean you are in Lum. on the last night. Since this is the most formal dining resturant I'm curious how people dress. With late dining and the need to pack I was wondering if people still wear their formal attire or are a little more relaxed since it is the last night.

Did you all see the new thread about the changes in dining times for a few July/Aug cruises? Interesting. Do you think they will extend the trial to our cruise?

I saw that too. I'm glad we have late seating if they do decide to change it on a permanent basis.

Regardless of what resturant you dine in on the last night, the dress is casual.

We're pretty usre we're going to do the under two flags tour on St. Maartan, not sure about St. Thomas. DH has a former coworker who is now living there, and a friend of mine spends about half the year there, so we might just spend time with friends.

DS is going to do the Teen Regatta on St. Maartan.

We aren't big beach people. I might buy one set of snorkle gear to share. I wouldn't rent, I just dont think they properly sanitize the stuff---sorry, but bleach does NOT kill everything. Unless I can see that they are using a hospital grade disenfectant, and using it properly, I'm not going to use rented stuff. You can call me nuerotic, but my doctor doesn't.
