8/17/2008 Double Dip 4-day Wonder

Don't worry Dizzy......the change is to Oceans Quest on the Magic. Everything is the same on the Wonder.

But speaking of changes.....did you all see the post about the time change to the pirate party. Its now at 7:30 instead of 9:45.

And I also read there will be only one early dinner time and one late dinner time rather than the staggered dining times.

I bet the pirate party starting earlier is the reason we're leaving Nassau earlier. The ship probably has to be far enough in open waters to launch the fireworks.

It is brutally hot here in NJ. Yesterday it hit 97 degrees. And it will continue that hot through Tuesday. No way I can be outdoors with the cast on.

Had another scare last week when I fell trying to get up out of a chair. Landed right on the cast. I bruised my knee and my big toe but everything else is okay.

The cast comes off on Thursday. :cool1:

I'm glad you are doing okay. What a time you have had lately. With this heat, I'm sure you will be happy once the cast comes off. Take care. You know i will always think of your toe getting hot that one day your were outside with your new pin in your toe.

I can't believe how hot it is already. The first thing my DD asked to me was if she was going to be at soccer camp again in this kind of heat? For the last two years, here week was some of the hottest days. The first year she was in an old college dorm with no AC. Last year she had AC, but the field were quite the hike away. We ended up taking the snowball maker to her. Hopefully the third time is the charm. At least the camp is held closer to home this year, we usually stop by in the evening.

Good thought about the reasons on why the time change. It will be interesting to see how Pirate Night works out. I'm sure this is better for the younger children. Are the changed dining times just for that night?

And thanks for the heads up about the kids age groupings. :) I know it seems like a small thing, but to her it is a big deal. as a mom, you know if it is a big deal to your child, it will end up effecting you somehow. Just don't need Mickey Mouse drama this week. ;)

Sorry - my mistake. I meant to say that there is no Ocean Quest on the Wonder.

Well, I will not be around for too much until July after Wednesday. We have DD and DS recital week this week (which is always crazed!) and then we leave for our Europe trip next Wednesday. :cool1:

Ski and Sea - get better!!!

I've got 2 questions I'd like to ask. I'll be on this cruise with the rest of you, but I've never sailed Disney b4, I've sailed on other lines.

1. I'll be traveling with 2 DS ages 7 and 9. I've been reading everywhere that dinner is casual and shorts are not acceptable. I've spoken to a few past cruisers and they've said they've never had a problem with their children wearing shorts to dinner. What do you all think? I don't feel like returning what I've already purchased.

2. We booked this cruise with friends last year. At first we both were waitlisted for early dinner. Within 2 weeks we were moved to early dinner, but not our friends and yes the ressies are linked together. They are still waitlisted and we've been told they may not get early seating. I'm not gonna give up my early ressie until the bitter end, it's easier for me to go late than it is for them to go early. Has anyone ever had this happen to them and been seperated from the rest of their party?

I'm up early -- can't sleep. Today is my 40th bday (the excuse for this cruise and trip to WDW). DH has 3 months until his 40th so I expect to hear a lot of "wow, you're forty" today.

I can't wait for the cruise!

Happy Summer everyone!

Happy birthday, cyndisun! I wouldn't mind hearing 'wow, you're forty' since I turned 50 last December!!! LOL! :-)

Have a great day, and you couldn't have picked a nicer way of celebrating this milestone birthday!

Well guys - this is it - i probably will not be posting again for the next few weeks. Just think, by the time I get back, we will be about 6 weeks away!!:cool1:

Anyway - Everyone take care of yourselves, and start getting excited!

disnutz, have a great trip! I'm looking forward to hearing all about your European adventures!

9 WEEKS TO GO!!!!!

Wow - time is really flying now.

Cyndisun.....turning 40 is great. I'm having more fun in my 40s than any other time in my life.

Disnutz.....have a great trip and be well.

Coach Rick....hope all is going well with your family.

Happy Father's Day to all the dads. DH spent the weekend grilling. Its what he wanted to do this weekend. Weather was nice this weekend. The heat wave broke on Wednesday.

Got my cast off on Thursday. Now I'm in a surgical boot. I still have to use the crutches. I can "walk" using the crutches for about an hour a day then I have to keep the foot off the ground for the remainder of the day.

I have to ease into putting weight back on the foot.

I wish my doc had warned me that I would shed skin like a rattlesnake. Layers and layers of skin came off once the cast was off - just like a horror movie.

My calf is half the size of the other calf. My foot looks pretty good.

Feels extremely weird when I stand on both feet.

I've got two weeks in the boot. After that I will need physical therapy to learn how to walk again.

Last week of school for the kids. Lots and lots of end of year parties for them. They have a better social life than me.

Ski-and-Sea, glad to hear that your cast is off! Won't be too long before you'll be dancing on that skinny leg of yours!

My DS(16) is writing exams right now. My DS (14) just came back from her Grade 8 trip to Quebec City and her graduation is next Monday so there's a lot of activity around that. I'm trying to do a giant spring (better late than never!) cleaning. Finally got around to cleaning out my basement; I still have things from Christmas that I hadn't put away! Just never had time to go down there.

We're having wicked thunderstorms up here. The rain comes down suddenly and so violently, then it stops, then it pours down again. It's so odd. The poor flowers are taking a battering!

Can't believe it's just 9 weeks! I'm obsessed with thinking about what clothes to take on the cruise. I'm adamant that I will be packing light, but everytime I start working on my list, it seems to get longer and longer!

It has also been raining here pretty badly. (NY) They are calling for heavy downpours with hail and lightning. We had it bad the other night too.

Ski and Sea, I am glad to hear you got your cast off. Hope P.T. moves along quickly for you.

I'm here :) Am at school doing last work here to finish this year, only three days to go. Friday we'll start summer vacations with a trip to DLRP.
The cruise is coming closer and closer...

I'm here too! I was starting to get 'dis' withdrawal!

My DS graduated from Grade 8 on Monday and all the girls looked so pretty in their dresses! She had 3 inch heels on and to my amazement, didn't have any problems walking in them! Quite a change for her; she usually doesn't wear anything other than skater shoes or flip flops! I would have keeled over in a minute. She and her friends received quite a few awards in academics and sports, so it was a really great night!

Willem, congrats on ending another school year! You must be so excited that summer's here! I went to a family dinner on Sunday and talked to my cousins that will be at the wedding in France. They all laughed when I told them I was going to Disneyland Paris but said that it made perfect sense since I enjoy Disney so much.

I can't believe that the cruise is only 7 1/2 weeks away! I booked this cruise over 2 years ago so it's incredible that it's so close now. I keep telling everyone how much I'm looking forward to it because it's a DCL cruise and everything is so wonderful on their ships, and there are so many great people going as well!

I'm here too--just behind all the smoke from the CA wildfires! My sister and her husband were all prepared to evacuate there home this past weekend as they live over the hill from Napa. Luckily there neighborhood was spared!

We are heading out camping this weekend and will be back by July 4th. Then more baseball tournaments for us. Our summer has been packed so far. The good thing is, it is making the time until the cruise fly by!

Happy summer to everyone!

Cyndi

Keep safe in CA. Boy, mother nature doesn't take a summer break.....flooding in IA and wildfires in CA.

As for me....the chaos is over. Kids finished school last week with four pool parties in four days. Man, what a life. They started their day camp and so far so good. We all get to sleep an extra hour in the morning.

Glorious weather we are having - perfect summer weather.

Ok, Update on a couple things....Dad is doing much better. He spent all but 4 days out of the last 4 and a half weeks in the hospital, but after transferring him to the Lahey Clinic in Boston/Burlington Ma, they have found what was causing his issue, and fixed it. That doesn't fix his liver problem, but does make him feel allot better. So thanks for all your prayers.

Now for the tshirts. I have finally put a link up for your ordering pleasure. Be sure to select your size properly (there is a drop down list to choose Sm - XL and an additional button for XXL and XXXL. There is also a separate button for kids sizes. If you have any questions, please email me. You can reach the site at www.rosebudsduds.com.

Kind of sorry I canceled mom and dads cruise, but I still think it's best given he fragile nature of his illness. If we were a hundred or so miles out to sea and something happened that would be very difficult indeed. We are still going through with our cruise plans, so I will get to meet you all onboard, and no, my kids still don't have a clue! :thumbsup2

Coach Rick,

So glad to hear things have stabilized with your dad. You must be so relieved.

You did the right thing cancelling your parent's reservations. It is too risky.

And we're so glad you are coming.

I'll be ordering some t-shirts.

Oh - here's my medical news. I am out of the surgical boot and am wearing a high-tech looking ankle brace. The best news is no more crutches!!!!!!

I am now walking on my own - more like a drunken sailor. I can't walk in a straight line.

So I started physical therapy today. Three times a week for the next four weeks. My ankle feels like it got beat up.

It is so nice to hear all the wonderful news about school finishing, graduations, Loved ones recovering and casts coming off. :worship: All good news with the exception of the CA. I am leaving today for my two week cruises :yay: and won't be back until mid July.

Keep the good news coming.

Stay safe and well. :wave2:

Thanks Ski and Sea... Yep things are good.. Now dad is feeling better and we have not told him we canceled it. He keeps saying he can't wait to go on that cruise, and nobody can keep him off, and if he doesn't get to go on that cruise all this has been for nothing...:scared1: In the next few days I have to try and explain best I can what happened. Good grief!:( :(

On a happier note, I will be going to WDW 4th of July...can't wait to just be away!
