8/17/2008 Double Dip 4-day Wonder

Thanks for the tips, Willem! I wish I had more time for DLP, but we'll see how things work out. And as I mentioned, I want to come back with my kids one day and then we'll really do it properly. I just thought that since I was going to be in France, I couldn't pass up an opportunity to do even a quick visit!

I haven't had a chance to look at your photos (been too busy between work and home commitments!) but I'm going to try and get to them on the weekend!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Hey all!!!!!

Glorious day here in NJ. The sun is out and the temperatures are warm. Not much in the way of greenery but that's okay as I'm behind on my spring clean up.

My TA emailed me and said she received the Wonder travel guides for our cruise. :cool1:

You know the cruise becomes "real" when you get your travel guide. It also means I've got to pay off the balance. :headache:

That's okay......my accountant called and said we're getting an income tax refund this year. Last year we owed so much that we had to change the withholdings and it looks like we overdid it.

Had a talk with the family about shore excursions. We're going to pass on Palo brunch this cruise. We want to maximize our time on CC. We're also staying onboard the whole day in Nassau so we can enjoy the ship.

We're going to sign up for the fishing excursion on the second CC day. DS will do the "wild side" with the teens on the first CC day while DH and DD go snorkeling. I'll be lounging on the beach.

We recieved the travel guide earlier this week, it looks great!
Here spring has come too, great weather. Had a walk in town after work this afternoon. The sun felt so good.
Lynda, if you have any more questions about DLP, just let me know.
Last weekend was the official opening of Tower of Terror and Stitch Live, it was really spectacular. You can find some movies on YouTube: http://http://youtube.com/watch?v=p8BFEYNWy44

I will be in your neck of the woods...well kinda, this weekend...

Taking Amtrak from Providence to Phili, then on to Harrisburg. I am competing in a drum and bugle corps competition this weekend. Coming back Sunday...Hope the weather stays somewhat nice, although the show is inside this weekend...

Willem, thanks for the offer to answer any questions I might have re DLP; I'm 99% sure that I'm going and I'm just trying to see if I can squeeze in any more time there. I'll definitely look at the YouTube movies too! Thanks for being so helpful!

Coach Rick, good luck on your competition this weekend! As a former baton twirler, when I hear a drum and bugle corps playing, it always brings back such good memories!

Sea-and-Ski, we're having a glorious day today as well, although it's supposed to rain for the next 3 days. But at least there's no snow (yet) so we're celebrating up here!

I think my travel guide is in too; I saw a message from my son about it but he didn't have any other details on it so I was wondering what it was all about. I'll have to ask him tonight (didn't get a chance last night because he was at his dad's).

Coach Rick - the weather forecast is horrible for the next 4-5 days. Glad the competition is indoors. And good luck with that - how wonderful for you to be in that. I always enjoy watching that on TV.

Got my travel guides in the mail today. I've been so busy I haven't had a chance to sit down and look them through.

Hi Everyone! :wave2: We are coming too! :woohoo: It will be me, DH, DS (10) and lovely little DS (terrific uh, no, terrible 3) We have cruised 4 times, twice on each ship. We don't have a stateroom number yet but we have late dining.

I have been reading through the thread but have not finished all of it yet but wanted to let y'all know that according to my DS(10) it is really not a great thing, that in case of an extended cruise, "all of you teachers :teacher:are on board." :rotfl: I think he is worried you will try to start the school year early for him. He really is looking forward to going and is interested in getting email pals together so please let us know if anyone would like to connect. Have a great night!

Cheryl

Hi Cheryl!
Welcome to the thread! We have done the Magic at Halloween too; wasn't that a great experience!

My kids are older than yours (DS16, DD14) but we're doing late dining as well.

Your DS's comments re all the teachers made me laugh; despite the age difference, I'm sure my DS16 would agree as well!

And Sea-and-Ski, 18 weeks makes it seem so close! I remember when it was over 100 weeks!

Welcome Cheryl!!!!

My DD will be 12 on this cruise so she'll be in the same age group. We're late dining, too.

OK - now that we are getting closer, I wondered if any of the teens who will be on board would be interested in exchanging IMs or emails with my DD (who will be 14 in June). Mine didn't know anyone last time, and was hoping to meet a friend or two before the cruise.

Anyone interested?

Home from a great weekend, and....... We won! Great time, and the weather people were totally wrong. Saturday was 70 degrees, crystal blue skies, and absolutely wonderful. I got to sit by the Juniata River walk for an hour or so...awesome...anyhow, if you would like to get a preview of what I look like...and what I do in my spare time, go to www.massbrass.com and scroll down to the first youtube link for Malaga, the soloist...yep, that's me ;)

That video was taken at the after party, which was a real hoot.:thumbsup2

Train ride was awesome! Completely on time in both directions....

That video was fantastic!!! You guys sound amazing. :thumbsup2

Yeah, the weather forecast was completely messed up. It rained very hard Friday night but the rest of the weekend was fine.

We had a surprise 70th birthday party for my Aunt on Saturday. Held it at an Italian restaurant in northern NJ. It went great!!!

Well, little league starts in earnest this week. Games and practices for both kids.

My ankle is getting more and more painful each day since I've stopped skiing for the season. I see the doc next week for a pre-op exam. Surgery is in less than three weeks.

Thanks...I have so much fun doing that...it's actually called a mini-corps, and the whole mini-corps movement was really sparked by "Future Corps" that used to perform at Epcot. Now that would be a job I would audition for in a heartbeat!

Ouch....Should have kept skiing! :) I hope all goes well for you on that surgery. :goodvibes Don't want to meet you hobbling around on deck...;)

How interesting about the origin on the mini-corps movement.

And yes, I don't want to be hobbling around the ship this summer. I did that last summer with a broken toe. I could not dance at all during the pirate party. It was horrible. I remember telling the other DISers on my cruise that you can find me by looking for the person with the bandaged toe.

Hi Cheryl,

My DS10 (soon to be 11) will also be looking for a friend on the cruise. We have late dining.

I'm not all that familiar with the pm thing, but we should try to hook them up via email.

Take care,
Cyndi

Woo Hoo:thumbsup2 just realized 17 days before I can begin making ressies...:woohoo: Lets see, Palo Brunch...hmm, but what day:popcorn:: now, how about jet skis for DS and I :surfweb: ...well you get the point...

I got great news yesterday too. See since dad has gotten ill, he finds he really has some limited mobility issues that really requires him to use an ecv. First I checked with Southwest Airlines, and yep, he can bring it on the plane with him. They put it in cargo, but it can come with him. Then I wrote Disney to ask about being able to get dads ECV on board, and the fact I didn't' think it would fit in the stateroom..well, a few minutes later I got an email telling me that they moved him to one of those really big rooms at the back of the ship, which is an accessible room, and the ecv will fit in..I could not believe they did that for dad! Yes, Magical indeed :wizard: Recently I became a part time travel agent, and this is one reason why when I get a client that can afford only one big vacation, I highly recommend a Disney vacation. Nobody knows how to treat their guests like Disney does. I mean c'mon, I didn't even ask, they just did it! That's what I call "exceeding" expectations! :thumbsup2

My kids would be up for emailing others.

DS is 13
DD is 12

Coach Rick - that is impressive what DCL did since the last time I looked our cruise is basically sold out.
