My favorite was once at Disney World. My DD, who was nine months, and I were sitting waiting for everyone else who was on Tower of Terror. DD went into a meltdown. When she had a meltdown, she HATED to be held -- she'd kick and scream and just work herself up more. If you left her alone, she'd freak out for 5-10 minutes and then calm herself. So I sat her in her stroller, and was rocking it back and forth. Some woman came over and screamed "Why don't you pick that child up instead of letter her cry. That's child abuse."

I told her loudly if she didn't leave immediately, she would truly understand the meaning of the word abuse. A CM walked over and asked her what was wrong. I told her what I was doing and asked her to keep this woman away from me. The other woman walked away complaining loudly about 'some people'.

DD calmed down as I was talking to the CM.
i had a similiar issue at target dd was have a frak attack i was trying to calm her down and some woman came up to me and told me i was holding her wrong:confused3 i had her head on my schoulder and was rubbing her back:confused3 people need to mind thier own buisness

No problem . . . PM me if you have any more questions between now and then. I would love to see you, but we will be on the Magic in the Med while you are here! Take care of my city for me while I'm away . . .

Hi folks, I'm back. I was away for business last week ... and then actually had to work now that I'm back in the office ;) I've read the summaries and am trying to read "live" stuff too.

Today's life drama will include explaining to my youngest DS that the hamster we brought home on Saturday was ill and did not make it through the night :sad2:

Unfortunately there are too many people who make minding other peoples' business their business. All of us parents probably have a million of these stories -- like the time in Cub Foods when my infant son was crying and some woman comes up, "oh, he's hungry, you should feed him".

Apparently the large plastic tube with the big nipple on top that he had just flung at my head wasn't a tip off that I'd tried that already. :rotfl:

Ooh, good luck with that. I thought DD4 would never stop crying when her first fish died. She still will look at our fish tank and say "I miss Sean-y".

Yes, there is one TKTS in Times Square and another near the South Street Seaport. You'd be suprised at the shows you can snag for half price.

I was there on Feb 10th (a Sat nite) and many good shows were avaialble (Phantom, Mamma Mia, Beauty and the Beast, Color Purple).

TKTS in Times Square only sells tix on the day of the show. The Seaport one also sells tixs one day in advance for the following day's matinees.

And finally I have been thru waverly.. and Elmira... and Corning.. and the rest of the Southern Tier... I went to Binghamton for undergrad!!!

I attended Binghamtom for a semester of grad school doing Bio-Psychology(didn't finish)

Is this really silence on the board. I do not think this has ever happened!!!! What will I ever do with all this free time.

This morning I get on my usual 6 train 1 stop at Grand Central. The train is pretty empty. At Grand Center they open on one side but at the next stop they open on the opposite side. I am easily able to stand in front of the doors that are going to open at the next stop- 51 street.

Ok, so I step on the train, walk toward the doors that are going to open at 51street and turn around to face the train - as opposed to looking out the doors. AS I am turning around this man just steps right up on me. I mean he was really freaking close to me. No need for it as the train is pretty empty. Next, I catch a whiff of him..yuck. He was so close that when I went into my bag- hanging across my body in front of me - I touched his coat.

I look up at him and ask him to back off. He moves a little. I move a bit away from him and turn sideways as I don't want to face him and I don't want to give him my back. I gotta tell you I almost decked him. I was pissed. I put my elbow out and elbowed him. It was all over in about 2 minutes. Jerk!

Maybe it's just my Southern California childhood but I've never understood the appeal of NYC...first of all, I do understand that I come from "Car Culture" and that's prolly my biggest complaint: I don't want to have to ride a friggin' train or bus to get to where I want to be! Nor do I wasn to PAY somebody to drive me there! So I guess that and the 5 BILLION poeple piled on top of each makes me nervous.

Stacey it's a good thing your DH was there. I suspect if he wasn't you would've made minced meat out of the woman :thumbsup2 The nerve of some people. It reminds me too of being pregnant and people touching my belly without asking. Now, that's not to say I wouldn't have let them, but come on, don't manhandle the Prego...Hello!

When our neighbor was pregnant with #4 I got to feel her belly...creepiest feeling ever! It's truly a good thing men can't get pregnant because the human species would have died off a long time ago!! :rotfl:

I gotta go now... this afternoon we're going out of town for a nite and I'll check in from the hotel if we have working wifi - otherwise it's wednesday!

The thought has crossed my mind.

Wait, do I hear my Disney Visa screaming, "No, not another cruise!"

:rotfl2:

My Disney Visa needs to sign up for the Wench/Swabbie diet plan.....

It too needs the numbers to go down.....

I have to agree on most of your points - except I must confess to enjoying the novelty of riding trains to get about. I've had the good fortune to have ridden the mass transit trains in Bangkok, Hong Kong, Paris, London, Chicago, NYC, Boston and our emerging metro in LA (plus others I've probably forgotten). It is really interesting and a way of life for countless millions of folks around the globe. OUR way of life - living in a car - must seem remote and foreign to those folks.
