8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC Part 8

Ok...why is it that my DW can't say "No".....well...except to me... This extremely poor family in our town is having major issues and the mother seems to rely very much on my DW. This family consists of a Grandmother, Mother, Father (we thought, but DW thinks the girls called him "uncle"), and two girls ages 5 and 7 all living in a mobile home. The Father (or Uncle) is disabled and home stricken. The mother and grandmother work at McDonald's. I guess that's all they have of a family, we only know them because our DD played on their older daughter's softball team, but their mother calls my DW for all issues.

Anyway, the mother (probably in her mid-30s) just had some type of artery surgery a few weeks ago that caused her to have two cardiac arrests because the artery's collapsed while in the hospital (I'm not a doctor, and heard the medical information 3rd hand, so not sure to accuracy). At that time, my DW had their two girls stay with our DDs for what was suppose to be 1 night for the surgery, but was stretched to 4 nights (school nights no less) due to the complications since the father (or uncle) couldn't watch them and the grandmother was assisting mother at hospital. Well...the mother went back into the emergency room of our small county hospital tonite and they called us to pick the girls up before the ambulance transported the mother to a real hospital. At least my DW told them it had to be just tonite and called their church pastor to try to gather some additional helpers.

I know they are extremely grateful and comforted that their girls can play with our DDs and take their mind off their mother in the hospital, because she does have serious health concerns. But it is concerning that they have no one close to them that can help them and that they call my DW because they know her from our DD's softball team. The mother's health sounds life threatening, so very concerning what options the children and grandmother may have if something were to happen. I know helping them is the right thing to do, but with DW and I both working fulltime jobs (we work opposite schedules so DDs always have a family member available), and with DW working on a PhD, the stress level's already high.

Only 32 days left till our trip to WDW, we're so excited, staying in a Grand Villa at OKW.

The GV at OKW are great. We have stayed in them I think 4 times. Just love all the room. Your trip will be here before you know it.

No apparently they don't have any in Western Mass because it is never mentioned on the Boston area weather maps. In fact we're not really sure there is a Western Mass. Although people say they live there, but I don't think it really exists. Must be people in the WPP.

The GV at OKW are great. We have stayed in them I think 4 times. Just love all the room. Your trip will be here before you know it.

Would you recommend any particular GV's at OKW. No preferences or room requests have been made as of yet. Thanks Jack

We are there from March 31st to April 6th. Kids go back to school on the 9th, and we have to give a couple of days to drive because we are taking my grandma and she will NOT fly.

Looks like we'll just miss the mini meet....make sure you all have a blended drink for me!

I'm just ready to be back in some warm, sunny, tan-producing weather .. . We'll be staying rainy Virginie for our spring break the last week of March. Mind you Busch Gardens will be open all week . . . guess we won't be suffering too much . . .but we will miss meeting all our new DIS friends

Thank you. DW got home from picking up the grandmother at the hospital (A 90 mile roundtrip) since the GM rode down in the ambulance. The mother had "stents (sp?)" inserted in artery's and they collapsed/failed I guess (again, 3rd hand info).

Vote For The Worst

I hate that website- it has to be the only reason that Antonella is still on the show. It really messes up all the AI's because it gets others knocked off that might have had a chance to go further and keeps the WORST on there longer. They eventually get knocked off later when there are less people to vote for so the REAL votes always end up winning- but it really messes up things and makes it out of wack in the beginning. For instance how Antonella is still on there. *hurl* Girl cannot sing...

This is very true! And for this we must respect her. It also makes it easier on those of us trying to ketchup in the morning.....

I have a car/bad son story wrapped up in one (at least as I've heard it told). My dad had a Triumph sports car when I was 4 or 5 years old. He came home from work and asked me what I did for the day. I said, "We played gas station". He figured, "Ok..that's nice". A few weeks days later, the Triumph stopped running. Guess they found some unknown liquid in the gas tank. Even with a new carb, I guess the mechanic could never get it running right again and my dad sold it.

He got even...Few things more tramatic for a pre-teen than being seen with your family in a two-tone blue Cordoba.

IMO...you can never have this discussion too often.

The veggies are suppose to go on after you heat the sub. Although it apparently isn't a problem for some people because when I order a chicken kabob salad at the pizza shops around here & they always put hot chicken on top of my salad & I hate my lettuce hot so I tell DH to order my chicken on the side, but that just freaks him out for some reason. Like they are going to think he's weird. Well I think hot lettuce is weird.

I picked up my x-rays and report this afternoon at the end of my work day. Man, my knees look horrible on the inside, actually, they don't look that good on the outside either............

Report states:

Right Knee Findings:

There is moderate to severe narrowing of the medial femorotibial joint space. There is also sclerosis involving the medial tibial plateau. The medial tibial plateau appears slighty depressed. This may be projectional. There is no joint effusion.

Left Knee Findings:

The patient is status post partial left knee replacement with prothetic components overlying the lateral femoral condyle and lateral tibial plateau. There is moderate-to-severe narrowing of the medial femorotibial joint space. There is osteophyte formation off the tibial spines and off the medial femoral condyle. There is also patellafemoral joint space narrowing.


Not sure, but I think maybe that's why my knees ache so much..........

When I was growing up in the Boston area it was always "Sub". Now that we're in Western, Mass it's always "Grinder" and it doesn't matter if it's hot or cold :dunno My guess is that this discrepancy has something to do with the whole "state ends at Worcester" phenomenon
