Pete likes HO but also has some N and Z scale. But he also has some Lionel trains (I don't know what size they are). I try to get him something at Christmas - usually something he shows me in a magazine and I get it online. We used to go to the "Great Train Store" all the time before they closed. We have a few small hobby shops that have some trains but not a large selection.

I'll let Kev know. Lionel is O27 gauge I believe. HO meaning "Half of O"

OK Folks - Its time for a Blast from the Past! Replies to posts from nearly 1 week ago :lmao:

Can you just imagine the servers bringing out 400+ Bday cakes :rotfl2:

If they are anything like the horrible strawberry whipped cream thing DH had in 2004, they can skip mine! We were going to try it again in 2005, but his birthday was the last night and our servers were so bad on that cruise that even though I reminded them the night before and told them as soon as we arrived that night that we needed to be done (including the birthday cake) before Till We Meet Again - it didn't happen. We had to skip desert to even make it.

No I'm very afraid, because I already promised DD she could get married at WDW! I can guarantee it aint happening at the castle! :scared1:

DS7 announced a while ago that he was going to get married at WDW when he grew up. I pointed out that his future bride might not want to. A few days later he told me it was "OK" because he had talked to Ruby (the 4 year old next door) and she had agreed  :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Okay so Andy mentioned his blue suede wedding shoes and remember I wanted to post my wedding pic. Now I know I am about 5,000 post too late, But what the heck.

I think I am at least 7000 posts too late ...

Wanted to add that my kids LOVED Epcot last summer, and they were younger than Lisa's kids will be when they travel in December.

Same here ... DS7 has LOVED Epcot since he was quite small (maybe 3?) It is actually usually the park he chooses to go to the first day.

Didn't they use to have shoes like this that were called duck shoes?

They sure did! I spent my freshman year of college in Williamsburg, VA. When I got there I did NOT understand why everyone seemed to have these totally ugly Duck Shoes from LL Bean..... THEN the rain started! I swear it rained (mist, drizzle, showers, pouring, and so on) from October to April! The weather was one of the main reasons I returned to the mid-west for the rest of college! And yes, I did get a pair of those ugly shoes - they were necessary to stay dry. (The brick sidewalks may be picturesque - but the puddles were HUGE.)

Sorry to all the fans of them but or me its
" SAY NO TO CROCS"
imho they are hideous, and since they are made of plastic they must make what a wonderful aroma........

Actually, the material they are made from is actually anti-microbial (one of the reasons so many medical people wear them) and they don't smell at all like other "plastic" shoes. Actually, my athletic shoes and loafers smell FAR worse than my crocs! (Probably too much info there - sorry :) )

Well, my eyes are going bleary so I think it is time to give up for the night. I've "ketchup-ed" a little. I'm am now sort of current and still reading posts from 350 pages ago :rotfl:

Evenin' pirates.
Looks like I'm in for a night of ketchup.

Ooops! Forgot - back there in the 1700's pages folks were posting photos of their families. So here is ours... This was taken at Christmas and is one of the few where DH and DS look reasonably natural - they both usually have totally fake smiles and look like they REALLY don't want to be there.

Ok - now I am REALLY giving up for tonight! G'night everyone.

Although it was probably DS, Our extended families are very large, we have many holidays and this Thanksgiving and Christmas we had around 30-40 for each holiday, so maybe one of the small kids. DS would probably tell you it was happened while he was doing his crappy homework in there. Sorry, that was badddd :rotfl:

:rotfl2: Is that what they call "potty humor"?

Pamela, You look so beautiful. The dress you are wearing with the hat is so what I always envisioned my DD wearing.
I hated crocs til I wore them for the first time. I actually prefer them on my walks to my sneaks. They seem to cushion my legs more and my lower back doesn't hurt walking as it used to.

Great pic Pamela!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Someone stole DH sneakers:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Dh just called and told me someone stole his sneakers. I find this hysterical. He was skiing today and couldnt fit them in the locker so he put them on top. who whould steal someone elses dirty sneakers???? Its not like they are fancy expensive latest greatest sneakers. DH is slightly stuck in the 80's and still wears only black Fila sneakers.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I cant stop laughing.

It's a sad world out there....:sad2:

OK ... fine ... I hit refresh just one time and now I have to post again :lmao:

The most amazing thing about that dress is .... my mother made the whole thing - even the hat!!!!!!! She and I shopped for a couple of months and I just couldn't find anything I liked. One big part of the problem is that I knew too much exactly what I wanted and it just wasn't out there. Also, I am too pale to wear white and the selection in ivory was pretty slim in 1989. My mother wasn't happy with how badly made the dresses were. Her feeling was that if you're going to pay that kind of money for a dress it should at least be well made! She finally asked me (very carefully :rotfl2: ) if she could try making it and then if I wasn't happy with it we could try shopping again. I thought it was a GREAT idea - actually, since I hate shopping I would have gone for almost anything at that point that saved me from one more bridal store! My mother has always done some sewing, but she amazed me with this dress

The reason for the hat was that we all ballroom dance - and I DID NOT want a train (even bustled) getting in my way at the reception. By putting the veil on my hat and letting it drape all the way to the floor, I was able to have a "train" and then just take off the hat to get rid of it! (Is that sort of "train" spelled this way? The same as the choo-choo type?)

Each response that I read relating to Todd's situation really strikes a chord in me. This is the first time that I have been in touch with so many people who can truely understand that part of me. :grouphug:

Our stories sound much the same. I can wholeheartly understand that part of you.

WOW what a story - the dress is beautiful!

Kevin just agreed to take over the model train store he's worked at,on and off,for the last 12 years! Long story short. The lady who owned it originally had a combination model train and beading store. Because of health reasons, she needed to get out from under the train side. She sub-let it to an older gentleman(Conrad) who turns out, knows doodle squat about running a retail business and even less about trains. That was about 5 months ago. He has now decided he wants out. Poor Jeanne was beside herself because that's another $750 a month that she has to scrape up. She told us a man came in and offered Conrad $.25 on the $1.00 for his inventory and then he'd sell it on Ebay. Kevin found out about it today when he went into work. He called Conrad and said "Why not keep it in the family?" Conrad said, consider it a deal!! He doesn't want any money up front. He's going through a messy divorce and bankruptcy at the moment and doesn't want any cash in his accounts.

So, we are going to be changing the name from "Grandpa's Trains and Things" to "Grumpy's Train Shop/Store"

Wish us luck!!!

Congratulations and Much Success with you Shop!!! How totally exciting!

That is awesome. Mark is big time in to trains and we have closets full of trains. At one time he was going to build a layout in our basement. Of course, that was before my business workroom took over that place. He hopes to one day be able to stop traveling so much an reclaim some space in the basement for his trains.

Pamela, I loved your dress, especially the sleeves! How beautiful. Never would have guessed that it wasn't store-bought.
Great family picture, too!

Finally caught up...the pages were loading really slowly! Now my eyes are killing again, so I guess it's time to close them.

'Night!
