LOL
Me too with the back and forth. Usually I try to read and catch up before posting, sometimes posting by quoting someone pages back and then just clicking the little arrow in their quoted post within my post (following me there?) to get back where I was trying to catch up at. But today everything is loading so slow... I'm doing the 2 browsers- one is way back where I'm trying to catch up and one is watching the last pages and posting along there too. :rotfl: :rotfl:

I know I am lost now??????? I do two browers sometimes but what little arrow???:confused3

If you booked over the phone on the 31st..what time did you get your reservation? We were told that the prices weren't in the system yet when we got thru at 8:00 am (or 5am here). I haven't seen another post stating the same...just curious..

Desiree

From what we saw on the boards that am, the web was booking but the phone systems didn't have the info til 20-30 min later according to the TA we used.

Never looked at WM for DS's clothes. I'll have to check next time I'm there (once a week after church to get milk - can't beat their price - and a few other things).

DW works at the corporate office of a major retailer, so we usually get DS's clothes their. Can't beat the 15% off (on top the usual extra 15% on top of an add'l 10-15% = total of about 40-50% off :thumbsup2 ).

Still, they never have more than dress pants and white or blue shirts.

The suits they have online are for older boys. :sad2:

The one thing I can't find anywhere is dark brown socks. Haven't found them yet.

I go to WM for the milk too. Almost $1 less a gallon than the store. I have found some of his suits before on Ebay. I like the Michael James brand...I think that is what it is anyway. :confused3 It's been a while since I got one of those though since finding the suits at WM. I picked up some nice tweed like dress pants for him to wear to church & on the ship to dinner last week for $12 a pair...black, grey, tan. They are a not the khaki type material. I usually order his long sleeve dress shirts online thru kohl's or old navy.

I did find dark brown boy's socks at Target a few weeks ago. They were on clearnace & I picked up a few pairs...some for DS & some for DD because I had been looking for some for her since September!

Cheryl, I think they are referring to the blue box with the arrow in it. If you click on it, it brings you back to the original post that is being quoted. Hope this helps

HI All --

Took a day off to get some work done . . .LOL Seems like you pirates having been busy partying without me.

What do you think about buying shipboard credit for DH for Valentine's Day.:love::love: He's always tough to buy for any holiday. Thought it would be cool. Does anyone know if Stateroom credits are transferrable later? Just in case . . .

Thanks a bunch

I got through the phone line on my first try, shortly after 8 a.m. EST (we're CST) I got the message that the current wait time was 3 minutes. :lmao: At about 8:25 EST I got an agent. She said the prices were not loaded yet and put me on hold. While I was waiting (from 8:00 a.m. on) I checked the website for the pricing and conferred with DW as to how much we wanted to spend. When the agent came back in about 5 to 10 minutes, she was able to get me a room at the same prices I saw on the computer. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get the room I saw online and wanted, but we are about 8-12 cabins aft of where we wanted to be. I was off the phone with them by 8:45-8:50 EST.

We could have gone Cat 8, but DW said to save the $900 (up charge over Cat 9 for 2A + 1C(8)). Plus, we could get mid-ship as oppose to forward (DW gets motion sickness). In hindsight, I'm wondering if I should have gone Cat 8. Oh well, I'm happy we're on the boat and I think we got really good pricing.

When we called, our Cat 9, without Ins or Xfers was $5,200. The Cat 8 would have been $6,100.

We were also given a room by IC because we filled out a sheet on the ship the week of 1/13-1/20. That room came back as a Cat 7 and would have cost us around $7,100.

I am self taught on computer. :sad2: It only took me 2 weeks how to work photo bucket.:woohoo:

Funny thing about the milk prices, the one closest to the house is alway under $2 a gallon. Go out to the one we use to shop at and it is about $1.25-$1.50 more. :confused3 Both are Wal-mart.

Figures on the dark brown socks - clearance. Don't they know little boys where dark brown cords or other brown pants? We don't need tan socks! That's all they ever seem to have close to brown.

I got through at 8:00 EST and was told a 3 minute wait. It took an hour and forty minutes. I got a Cat 5 with 10% on board discount and insurance and transfer for 2 A for $7400. I had a new CM and it took her 20 minutes just to transfer my info.

So - what amounts to a "fluff" post? I would like to acknowledge that if we toned it down a bit then we might have a better flow here - and it would make for a better community over the next 18 months. I actually decided this past weekend to lay off a bit - as I was getting overtaken in total count - and it just wouldn't end until someone gave in - so I decided to lay off and revert to quality in my posts. Hence I have dropped to maybe a dozen or so a day in the past couple of days. And my posts had one lengthy or time consumptive one a day - generally. The recoloring of the Captains' R/C plane took me a while to make - and the travel idea by Train a couple days ago took me a while to create too.

So - maybe we should knock off the sprint to 20,000. We know what is possible if we get enuf of us into a silly "spreading" mood. And that is not very attractive to new folks looking in on our community here.

With that in mind - I'm going to drop a couple notches in intensity - and resume the posture I took a couple days ago. No "fluff"... just real replies where I feel they are warrrented. 'K?:thumbsup2

Crash & everyone...the chatting that we can do before the cruise helps us to build a sense of community here as we get to know about each other. Over the next 18 months we are going to share a lot with each other. That isn't going to be limited to just pure planning posts so we can still joke around with each other. The thread is going to be huge no matter what. I have a tally of 429 people just in our immediate families...NOT counting all of the friends & family members traveling with us. That many people are going to generate a lot of posts. It is the fact that the numbers were being pushed up by so much pirate: talk that many were concerned that it was adversely affecting the view of some of those trying to decide if they should jump into the fire & join in. We have been told that is is overwhelming...and I agree with that even as someone who has read/skimmed over every single post on the thread from the beginning. :scared:

I know that many of us have been involved on much smaller cruise meets threads. I can only speak for myself, but on our last cruise we developed strong bonds with our fellow DISers as we prepared for our cruise over 18 months. We were there for each other thru illness, death, births, struggles and challenges. I know that personally that group helped me get thru a very long year with DH gone for 10 1/2 months working on his graduate degree. On the cruise we did connect more with those who had kids the same ages as ours but we did reconnect with everyone in the evenings at dinner.

Having so many people join in at the beginning of the thread's existance has been mind boggling. It usually starts out with a couple & grows as the cruise gets closer. This group's size is getting intimidating even to me so I can understandd someone who hasn't been as involved in the boards before being hesitant to join in. I hope that everyone feels comfortable enough to join in and say hello. There are many things listed on the first page that people have come forward to help with. If there is something that you would like to do that isn't on that list PLEASE contact me and I will be more than happy to introduce it to the group. This could be a group tour in a port booked outside of DCL. Everyone's input is welcome. :goodvibes

Does the school require you to buy from the uniform company, or are you able to buy items anywhere (such as navy pants, but no brand specified)?

Our school requires that the pants, shorts, jumpers, skirts, ties and embroidered polo shirts (spring/fall only) come from the uniform company. Gym shirts & sweatshirts are from the gym uniform company. For those items the school has a used uniform shop. Jumpers are $5, as are the pants if I am lucky enough to find some that aren't worn in the knees. I did end up buying new uniform pants for DS but the jumpers look like a good value for DD for next year. I'll buy her white shirts (for under the jumpers) as I see them on clearance this year. At least we knew the uniform requirement early enough that I can limit my buying ahead on clearance to just what we need for after school & weekends.

Hopefully, if you only need to follow color guidelines you'll be able to find good sales for what you need.

That is what I am hoping to do...sales & deals. :thumbsup2 I may miss out this coming year but next year I can buy the bigger sizes & some dups for extras to replace the damaged pants.

I believe it was lime green for embarkation day and hot pink for the Panama Canal, right?

Seriously, there was a decision made and the Captain will be posting ordering information and giving an iron-on tutorial later as we get closer. Black for embarkation and white for the Canal. I imagine this will end up on page 1 when it is really official.

You are perfecting your instigator status? ;) :lmao:

THese are hard since I often don't have just one favorite ... I'll try and just list one, but its going to have to be eeny-meeny-miney-moe to get there!

1) What is your FAVORITE SMELL??? Night-blooming jasmine

2) What are you having/HAD for Dinner tonight? Left over mac & cheese, left over speghetti & applesauce (Monday's are always whatever leftovers are in the fridge since we have so little time at home before we have to leave for choir)

3) If you could have ANYTHING for dinner tomorrow - what/where would it be? Artichokes, Escargot and really good medium rare tenderloin.

4) If you could fly anywhere for a day - one day - all expenses paid - where would you go - what would you do if naming ONE thing while on this travel fling? Wow - hard one. Since I can't imagine flying international for just one day, I think I'll pick NYC and I'd take DS7 to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I've never been to NYC and DS really wants to go to the museum. (Actually, he REALLY wants to go to the Musee d'Orsay, but the Met, London's National Gallery and the Louve are also on his list :rotfl2: )

5) Who is your FAVORITE Disney Character? Cheshire Cat

6) What is your favorite number - if yo have one? Don't have one...

7) What is your astrological sign? Capricorn

pdarrah (Pamela)

While I am glad the thread has slowed down (and I really won't miss having to click through a bunch of pages to get past the 'run for the ::MinnieMo '), I certainly hope it doesn't get boring. There have been quite a few days I've taken a break at work to see what has been posted and someone has posted something so laugh out loud funny that it has brightened my day considerably. So I hope it's not all just 'excursions, Disneyland, cruise' and still a little 'blah blah blah'.

Hey...

... the funny stuff should not be affected by restraint against "fluff"... and may I say anyone else is welcome to fluff the thread as much as their heart desires. As - I will admit that from time to time I may feel like goin' nuts and posting fluff a bit too... sometimes. But for now I do want to let some other folks have some posting space - I've been a "hog" with 900+ posts and some of my stuff has clearly been fluff to creep up on "00" when we were 15 away. That's fun - but maybe not so hot all the time.

I say .... ther should be NO RULES when we get close to the "000" and especially "0000" postings. It's TAKE WHAT YOU CAN with no footnotes... and dare I say... there will be blood running over keyboards right after we all sprint for the 100,000th posting. That might come to pass in less then 320 days if we average 250 postings a day.... yeah... ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND. The summaries every 500 postings are gonna need a summary every 10,000 on that! What a hoot, eh?

Well said Lisa!! This is my third go-around with a sizable DIS group but 429 people already WOWZA!! I second what Lisa says, I also hope everyone feels comfortable enough to join in. If you are lurking and feel overwhelmed, just jump in if your so inclined. We are all in the process of getting to know each other, just some of us (read: me) are more forward (read: pushy) than others. I jump in because I love the DIS experience on the cruise. After my first DIS cruise in 2004 I was hooked! And I think the thing I like the most about the DIS folks is that you can be as involved or as uninvolved as you want on the boat. After all it is all of our TRIP OF A LIFETIME!

Desiree

I got through at a few seconds before 8 (based on the call history on my cell phone) and was told that the prices weren't loaded yet, at least not for August cruises. I told the agent that I would hold as long as it took. I was one of the many who stayed on the line while the computers were rebooted. Finally got my room around 8:24ish and was not finished the call 'til a few minutes before 9.
