We were told on last week's cruise that we could order anything from that evening's menu to be delivered via room service. That meant Lobster in the staterooms.... We didn't do it, but we could have.
Is that really true? Or is that only for concierge level? I think I heard a family was able to do this once but only because they were quarantined to their rooms on that night!
I was thinking maybe we could talk our servers into making it "to go" and we'd slip in to get it and back out again. :rotfl:

Wonder when they started this??:confused3

Here's another thing that was new this year. (At least I don't remember it from last year) They offered three showings of most of the live performances. 3:00 pm, 6:15 pm, and 8:30 pm for Twice Charmed. 2:15 pm, 6:15 pm, and 8:30 pm for The Golden Mickeys. 2:00 pm, 6:15 pm and 8:30 pm for Disney Dreams. Just 6:15 pm and 8:30 pm for Remember the Magic though. Anyone know when they started doing that? I think it's a fantastic idea for those with small children. See the show before dinner, have dinner, and then bed time at 8:00 pm instead of trying to keep them awake to see the late show. :thumbsup2

Did you know kids of any age can order off the adult menu? My DD4 ordered her own lobster. :lmao:

They'll also let adults order off the kids menu. ;)

Hazel ordered off the kids menus many times. She enjoyed the kids meals more than the adult menu meals.

We don't have to order them all, by the end of the cruise the server always brings us one of every desert item.

That's what I love about DCL. My DS10 asked our server what "Baked Alaska" was and he explained it. My son ordered something else, and the server brought out the Baked Alaska as well as what he ordered.

Yes, they do. And speaking of gaining weight, there is a story I tell from our 1st 7-day cruise. We were seated with another couple and their son. The waiter took the order from our female table mate (lobster), then from my wife (lobster), then came to me. I ordered the lobster and then he suggested if I wanted to make it a 'surf and turf'. Both my wife and our female dinner companion immediately said "wait, we didn't know that was an option". All four adults had 'surf and turf' that night.

You know, that really must be the "norm" or something. On our last cruise (only cruise) on lobster night they did the same thing with my DH and I! I ordered the lobster and when he did- the server offered did he want steak with that too. I wasn't offended though because I'm not a big steak eater and definitely couldn't eat it with lobster too. Especially because I then said you know what- make mine 2 lobsters.

haha

Awww....I've always wanted to be at one of THOSE tables. Maybe one of the fun tables will adopt us. (We always seem to get the stuffy waitstaff!)

OK, I finally figured out why I couldn't send out an email to the group anymore last night. There is apparently a limit on how many group members you can have in your email account. So....I have started another group & will be sending emails out to both of them. :)

I just sent one out tonight. There are a few who are coming back as undeliverable. If you didn't get an email from me tonight, please let me know & I can check your email. Thanks!

Got mine Lisa, thanks!!! :thumbsup2

LOL!!! I'm up there getting my iced tea early as well!!! :lmao:

Ummm....if we happen to meet up there, let's just pretend that my hair is windblown instead of slept-and-unbrushed-because-I-didn't-want-to-wake-the-family. OK?

We've yet to have a stuffy waitstaff. The assistant, maybe, but never the server.

At the rate posts get made to this thread that milestone could happen in the next 30 minutes

OH NO! What happened to the potty? You didn't see any bricks near it, did you?

Seriously, I hope that whatever is wrong with the potty can be fixed pronto!

I was wondering if anyone can help this geography impaired person - :upsidedow - is there a time difference between Paris and France? On our return trip just noticed that the flight time is from Paris to Londone/Heathrow (sp?) is only 20 minutes - is this right? Just wondering - thanks

Our first dinner (AP, first night) we had horrendous waitstaff. Seriously. Then we figured out we weren't seated with the DIS'ers we were supposed to be linked to so they rearranged by the next dinner and had us "close" to the DIS'ers (best they could do I suppose- but we ended up in the corners sometimes with curtains seperating us/etc.) but the waitstaff there were VERY VERY NICE. However, I do think it has to be said that they aren't extremely flexible on what you can order. Sure you can order multiples of things but it's such a waste of food if say for instance your child only wants ONE item off a child plate- they bring out the entire plate with everything on it. Even if you insist that your child does not want/will not eat/etc. whatever else is on the plate- they still bring it all out. So if they want one thing off one child's plate on the menu and one thing off the other- they'll bring out both plates of various foods and then you get the joy of them eating off seperate plates or putting them on one single plate yourself. I don't understand why they can't be more flexible on that.

Actually, from what I've been reading there are a few other DIS'ers doing the 15 day/5 day back to back. But the last thing I need right now is another thread to keep up with!!! :rotfl:

This will be known as my :dance3: Triple Decker Dipper :dance3: with the three visits to Castaway Cay within a 6 day period. :dance3:

Andy that sounds like great fun! A triple dip, and in only 6 days no less!

Hazel ought to be so surprised!

Oprah says that people can call her whatever they want, but that doesn't mean she has to answer to it.

Now, as for your wardrobe issues...I understand. Really, I do. So, here's what I have to say about that:

This is YOUR vacation...your Trip of a Lifetime. Do what you want with it. If dressing up isn't your thing, then don't do it. If you want to dress up, I bet with 300+ DISers, someone is bound to have something in their closet that might fit you (even if it doesn't fit them at the moment). You can also find great deals on dressy dresses at the clearance places like Marshall's & Ross. I know I'll be on the prowl for my own formal night apparel next year after Christmas and again after prom season. I'm bound to find something at a reasonable price. Bottom line--don't feel the need to live up (or down) to anyone else's expecations other than your own. :flower3:

Coldwater Creek has some incredible deals right now on clearance. They were the larger sizes so I was disappointed but someone would be able to get some nice formal looking stuff inexpensively. ;)
