I haven't been there so I can't advise, but I do know many folks have been able to view the divers on their own. The problem we have is that the divers don't normally do morning dives. With our 1pm departure, we are not sure that we will even be able to see the divers. There is speculation that
DCL will have enough influence to get a morning dive session, but there has not been anything formally announced.
The ship is only stopping in Acapulco on the 2 repo cruises. The shore excursion list includes two tours to see the divers and does not have any language indicating it is westbound only. From what I gather, DCL doesn't need its influence, only its $$$$ to get an early show, apparently they will do early shows for any cruise ship with the right $$$$.
Shipping Wine
I don't think the wineries or other online wine/alcohol sites will have a problem shipping to CA. Our issue will be whether or not we are able to ship to the port like we can to PC. And not sure if hotels will accept shipments of wine. I know many will accept packages for guests, but maybe not food or alcohol??? Definitely something to check in to.
Somewhere, I think in the first 60,000 or so posts, someone had indicated they did ship stuff to the port in LA in 2005 and I recall seeing the address. I will look for it (Just can't put my hands on the third edition Passporter).
I also saw on some threads that with security concerns, you may not be able to ship liquids to the ship, so to your pre-departure hotel may be better.
Hi guys!
I have a question.... I thought I heard someone tell me that passports for cruises were not needed now until 2009? Is this for sure, or is it just a rumor??
They are needed for Colombia and if you need to leave the ship for any reason (ie fly home for emergency). You don't need them in Carribbean for the ship, but you can't fly home without it!
Sorry, I didn't mean to step on anyone toes. I just thought I'd offer to help.
I'll pass on the names I've received to Bellelinus.
Volunteers always welcome on all kinds of things. We understand that not everyone (alright no one except maybe Crash) has actually read the 80 some thousand posts here. If you get a "short" reply, take it as "We've answered this before, but don't want to be rude to the newcomers, but there are 6,000 posts since yesterday to get through so I'll just send this note," and then the language isn't as precise as we all like to be.
Thanks for the offer tho, and I'm sure if help is needed, they will ask for it. Also, I hear a rumor that the January newsletter will have some details on projects where help may be needed.
Will they deliver to the ship?
On the same note has anyone come across a car service company that may make a stop at a liquor store? We aren't big drinkers but a couple of bottles of wine would be nice to have for the room without paying the inflated costs on the ship
Car service (or more precisely, the driver) will always make a quick stop for a good tip....
