Will they deliver to the ship?
On the same note has anyone come across a car service company that may make a stop at a liquor store? We aren't big drinkers but a couple of bottles of wine would be nice to have for the room without paying the inflated costs on the ship

Sorry, I didn't ask if they will deliver to the port.:confused3

Happy Sunday Everyone. We are getting a warm up here...last week, 2 degrees, and now supposed to be 60 by Tuesday.

I plan on bringing a case of wine on board for the cruise, so thanks for all the info. I usually stop at the liquor store in PC beforehand and load up the carry-on. I guess I could just do the same in DL. I have bought the wine pkg in the past, but since my tastes are pretty limited, of the wine types I liked (cabs, shiraz, syrahs, red blends) the ones offered I thought were just OK and got pretty boring. Last cruise I did purchase a bottle while at Palo dinner which was fantastic, but quite expensive. I'd rather just pick my own while in port. I would love to drive to wine country, but I believe it is quite far from DL??

Stacey - I hope your son is recovering. That is so very scary to have to go through.

I've used wegoshop in FL and they offer a great service. I am renting a car and staying at HoJo's so I will probably be making a couple of grocery store runs while there. I would be happy to give anyone a ride to the store if interested. Are we having a list of who is staying where before the cruise? We are at HoJo's from the 8th till the 16th. DH is coming in the day before and then we are driving over to the port and staying at DoubleTree.

Happy Belated Birthday to all I have missed, and welcome to all new cruisers joining in. I think it's great that cabins are beginning to open up.

I haven't been there so I can't advise, but I do know many folks have been able to view the divers on their own. The problem we have is that the divers don't normally do morning dives. With our 1pm departure, we are not sure that we will even be able to see the divers. There is speculation that DCL will have enough influence to get a morning dive session, but there has not been anything formally announced.

The ship is only stopping in Acapulco on the 2 repo cruises. The shore excursion list includes two tours to see the divers and does not have any language indicating it is westbound only. From what I gather, DCL doesn't need its influence, only its $$$$ to get an early show, apparently they will do early shows for any cruise ship with the right $$$$.

Shipping Wine

I don't think the wineries or other online wine/alcohol sites will have a problem shipping to CA. Our issue will be whether or not we are able to ship to the port like we can to PC. And not sure if hotels will accept shipments of wine. I know many will accept packages for guests, but maybe not food or alcohol??? Definitely something to check in to.

Somewhere, I think in the first 60,000 or so posts, someone had indicated they did ship stuff to the port in LA in 2005 and I recall seeing the address. I will look for it (Just can't put my hands on the third edition Passporter).

I also saw on some threads that with security concerns, you may not be able to ship liquids to the ship, so to your pre-departure hotel may be better.

Hi guys!
I have a question.... I thought I heard someone tell me that passports for cruises were not needed now until 2009? Is this for sure, or is it just a rumor??

They are needed for Colombia and if you need to leave the ship for any reason (ie fly home for emergency). You don't need them in Carribbean for the ship, but you can't fly home without it!

Sorry, I didn't mean to step on anyone toes. I just thought I'd offer to help.
I'll pass on the names I've received to Bellelinus.:sad1:

Volunteers always welcome on all kinds of things. We understand that not everyone (alright no one except maybe Crash) has actually read the 80 some thousand posts here. If you get a "short" reply, take it as "We've answered this before, but don't want to be rude to the newcomers, but there are 6,000 posts since yesterday to get through so I'll just send this note," and then the language isn't as precise as we all like to be.

Thanks for the offer tho, and I'm sure if help is needed, they will ask for it. Also, I hear a rumor that the January newsletter will have some details on projects where help may be needed.

Car service (or more precisely, the driver) will always make a quick stop for a good tip....

Does that mean you only need a passport if you get off the ship in Colombia?

Honest question here. Can those that have opinions on this explain to me what is offensive? I never gave it a second thought. I have no problem with my DS wearing such a shirt. I suppose it could be that I am SO familiar (and enamored) with the PotC movies. Or possibly because my DS is in middle school and not such a young child?

I've been trying to understand, but I'm just not getting it.
I don't want a debate, I just want to know what's fueling the objection.
I think it's great that there will be a front only option for the shirts, for those that want it.
I have no problem with it being on an adult's t-shirt. Once Roger, jogged my memory about it being in the POTC movie - I have vague memories of it. I love the POTC movies but haven't watched them for awhile - something me I intend to do soon now that the holidays are over and we have POTC 3.

I have the issue with it being on my child's t-shirt. It is a very adult logo for a cruise that is very family oriented. My children will be 12/13 when we cruise , but I still don't want it on the back of their t-shirts. Perhaps something with the dates, TOAL, or the Part of the DisPirates Crew - let the fun begin. Just suggestions - don't mean to stir the pot. :confused3
Thanks for the question and the answer:thumbsup2 I was wondering the same thing myself, but was too shy to ask;) My DH and I have clashed in the past because our ideas of what is offensive don't always agree:confused3

It was a good idea Wendy:thumbsup2 I'm sure they will appreciate any help as it seems like a big task to me:confused3 I've given up on trying to read every post (so I'm always missing something):rolleyes1

Love those newsletters:lovestruc

Thanks, Can you post the name of the place so that I can call or look it up online. Against my better judgement my husband purchased the flights on the day of the cruise.

Does that mean you only need a passport if you get off the ship in Colombia?

I wouldn't chance it even if you aren't getting off the ship
I have heard too many horror stories of people getting ill, having a heart attack, etc and have to be taken immediately to a hospital

Cruises is definitely when I feel "better safe then sorry" really comes into play

Good Afternoon everyone!!!

We are 223 days away from sailing!

I am now ready to being dieting, planning, and buying.

How's it going Andrew? Haven't really started mine yet. :headache:

Good actually, thanks, No snaking at all, only eat at meal times, nothing bad, so no chocolate no cookies( biscuits), no Crisps (Chips). Went out for walks, must do more exercise through. I took the kids to McD's and DD and myself had a Deli Chicken roll only, no fries, DS still had his though.

Good Sunday Morning Crew.........

The wine country is north of San Fransico.. so not a days drive from LA. I am going to call some of the wineries in CA and see if they will deliver a case. I don't do the wine package as I would rather spend the money on a good bottle of wine. Like all restuarants they mark up the cost and it will be cheaper or the same to buy direct from the winery.

I'll check and let you know..

I tried to call Disney to see what they said about the passport regulations, but that was a waste of time. They were not aware of the extension of the need for a passport for land and sea travelers until 2009, so I guess I will have to check with the State Dept. or my travel agent.
