I've been thinking about this for a few hours - I don't mind co-ordinating the list of people who would like transfer from the DL area to the Port/ pickup times etc. However, could someone else possibly look into a bus company that can take us from DL to the Port / cost? I think someone mentioned possibly having a stop to pick up water / liquor on the way to the Port.

So, if you are interested in going to the Port with the Dis Group from a DL area Hotel - PM me. That way we can get a rough idea of numbers for how many buses needed.:)

We actually have 2 cruisers that are going to be planning that. Thanks for the offer. Maybe you can get together with them.

Andy Congrats on the win!

M and Kristina, I am so jealous. Ansel Adams was who my Photography Prof idolized and we had to emulate him. And I love Annies pics. If I didn't know any better, I would swear she was my buddy in College under a pseudoname. She looks just like her:thumbsup2 I wonder if the show will be traveling here to Orlando.

Debi, That is one pretty dress. Congrats.

The weather here has warmed up.We were planning to do Breakfast out today but last minute call to babysit delayed the plans.I'll see if they ate and maybe a trip to Friendlys may be in order.

I love to drink wine too, but I have such a low tolerance that I'm usually limited to one glass a night:rolleyes1

My Dad ordered a glass of red wine (I think it was a Merlot) in a restaurant years ago that was so good. I lost the paper that I wrote the name of the wine on. But it had a very strong vanilla aroma (or bouquet-forget which one). The minute I started to get close to the glass I could smell vanilla.
Have not found a red wine close to it since.
Have ever had a red wine like this ?

I've never had anything like that, but it sounds delicious! If you figure out what it was let me know as I'd love to try it.

"I'm so excited...I just can't hide it..." I just won my dress on Ebay for $49.00!!
Let the dieting begin!

That is so pretty! Congrats!

good morning everyone! i'm sooo happy it's friday! i only have 3 daycare kids today, and they aren't coming til around 9:30!!! and i just shipped my own ds off to preschool. ahhh...quiet!!! for the time! LOL!
hope you all have a great day! i'm hoping to be able to join chat tonite, so maybe i'll "see" you then.

That's a great story Coral!

As another NICU veteran, I'd like to add, hugs and cheers for Cherie also. My full-term, 7 lb., 11 oz. youngest spent day 3-10 of his life in the NICU. He looked like the playground bully and the nurses all took turns holding him (some during their breaks!)because he was one of the few who could be picked up and held. Scariest week of my life. Besides my personal & family crisis, 2 things stuck with me: I don't know how these nurses do what they do & Ronald McDonald House is the best place ever!

Cute story - DH and I are very deliberate in our philanthropy. We have a budget and a plan every year (OK it's what I do for a living...) ANYWAY, this was the first year that we involved the kids. They each got to think and research and decide where we give some of our family's money. DS7 chose Ronald McDonald House to help babies like him. ;)

:thumbsup2 Makes sense to me!???)

I want to LIVE on Zinfindel Lane!!!
Seriously, you guys are killing me. I've been to almost every state and the vast majority of tourist-y places in the U.S. SF/Napa have always been at the top of my list of places to go & I haven't made it yet. DH has even been there without me.

I know for some of the babies in the NICU things are tougher than just "grow" which is all Megan needed to do. It is a glorious and very scary place to be with your newborn.
One of the reasons Megan did so well was she was born at a top Level 3 NICU. After being in the hospital for 3 weeks her actual birth was a surprise and an extreme rush. They were literally running my bed down the hall to delivery. When we got to delivery, the NICU already had a team waiting. Amazing.
The only downsize to this hospital was it was almost an hour away. As she was in the NICU until her due date- 4 months, it would have been great to be closer.
Now there are level 3 hospitals everywhere!

On DH's 40th birthday we spent 2 weeks going through CA.
We kept our house here but rented a house on the beach in San Diego for a couple of years. We started out there and ended up in Napa Valley. We stayed a week at a great B&B in Calistoga.
Every morning we hit a different winery and every afternoon a different spa.
That was one of our favorite trips.

Just so you know, the DIS chat is not working right now. Piratezone again?

I saw this press release today from Talbot's.

Retailer Talbots Inc. said Friday it will close 78 kids' and mens' stores by September and discontinue those businesses as part of a bid to focus more on its core customer — women who are 35 years old or older.

I have been wearing their clothes since I was in college. :lmao: I knew I was old before my time.
After shopping at Talbots for over 20 years, they just opened up a store about 2 miles away. Sure hope they do not close that store. You will see a lot of Talbot clothes on me on the cruise.

The 1st MoD walk I did was when I was pregnant w/ oldest DD in 1996. I was about 15 weeks along. It was 12 miles and my friend and I ran the last of it just to be smart alecs to the ones that were huffing and puffing to finish walking.
Little did I know at that time what a difference MofD would make in my own life in just a few months. That baby was born at 24 weeks and would never be alive today if it were not for MoD. They developed Surfactant that kept Megan's tiny fragile lungs from "blowing". I cry every time I see one of their commercials as there is no way to repay the gift they made possible to me.

Also, Roger hug your wife for me. To little preemies (and their parents) the NICU nurses are God. I was amazed and pleased with what they could do for a baby so tiny (1 pound). I will forever be grateful beyond words and deeds how many people helped keep my little Megan with us.

This "little bundle of joy" just called her 8 yo sister a "pig" so I guess all is how it was intended to be. :)

OK, I just read your two stories to Cherie and she is already crying at 7:30am. "Its when you hear stories from parents like you that makes the job worth while" Cherie

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: If I didn't already have my mind firmly set on diving Aruba - I'd join this shindig just so I could hang this picture.
I'm with you Esteri, I'm set on Diving. Once things calm down a bit, I'd like to do some research on Dive Masters down there. We should definately get a Diving group together.

Ain't that the truth John. I was so cold yesterday, that when I got home I wrapped the heating pad around my feet to get my toes warm..........:lmao:

A couple of years ago, DH & I visited Churchill, Canada to watch polar bears, and I discovered that those little "palm heaters" they sell for skiers work really great if you tuck them into the area by your toes. Good luck staying warm.

Definitely let us know about any shuttles to take us to the port - Thanks. We are coming in on Wed night the 13th - we wanted to do DL since the opportunity was there - PLUS DS who will be 12 when we fly in will be 13 when we wake up for our first day at Disneyland on the 14th! He will get to spend his first day as a Stinky Teen in Disneyland! But we will watch for you on the 15th :thumbsup2

I found a company called Super Shuttle that can take us from DL to the Port. I was quoted a price of $48 for the first person and $9 for each additional passenger. I was also told that we can set the pick-up time.

We actually have 2 cruisers that are going to be planning that. Thanks for the offer. Maybe you can get together with them.

Julie (Bellelinus) and Chris (GrandmaX3) are our DL to Port Team Leaders. They were waiting until after the first of the year to get started on this. Julie should be returning from SoCal soon.

Cherie- I cannot imagine how stressful your job is. On the days that are hard, keep the success stories in mind. My Megan was a micro-preemie, had NEC, had to have a PDA ligation and is still an almost straight A student whose seemingly only side effect is she wears contacts. That did not happen by chance.
It was an NICU nurse that at 1:00 am noticed Megan did not "look right". She ordered an immediate X-ray and that is when they saw air outside her intestines- intestines had burst. As she was about a pound and a half, this was a tricky situation. I am so glad I did not know how high the odds are that a preemie in this situation would have died.
She has no side effects from the NEC which is amazing.
Thank you for all you do for the weakest and sickest babies!! :thumbsup2

Be sure to stop by City Hall and get him a birthday button. And, visit the Tortilla Factory in California Adventure for a free dozen tortillas.

Crossing my fingers I don't lose power today. We're being hit with a couple of rain storms with high winds. A transformer has already blown (too far to affect me) but there are about 20,000 customers in my area who have lost power. Probably close to 100,000 total in the greater area.

One of the bridges is closed in one direction because 2 trucks have blown over. Many parts of the highways are flooded. We just don't normally get this much rain dumped on us at once.

I think they said this was supposed to be the biggest storm to hit us in several years. It should be letting up later this afternoon.

The dog is refusing to go out. He's dancing around but every time I try to let him out, he runs back in the house. I'm just keeping him in his crate, I don't want to find any surprises in the house.

I saw this on the news this morning. The whole country seems to be having very strange weather. Stay safe.

Monica ...

... just get something nice and warm ta drink (RUM n' ?) and maybe get out some flash lights with fresh batteries n'/or candles just in case the power gets knocked out. The weather report does indeed look fearsome (somewhat). Well... for Norcal itlooks pretty intense... but really it's not wso bad compared to what others might face in a hurricane or something (wink)
