8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC Part 2

I think this cruise maybe different, but on the E/bound in 2005, when We were told to book we didn't have any idea of price ranges for the cruise in advance.

So I told DREAMS to go for a lower CAT, to ensure the cost was OK. As soon as I booked I realized my usual CAT 4, was a reasonable price so I asked DREAMS if I could upgrade.

Whilst the ship was sold out in hours, if not a day, I went from an assigned lower CAT room, to a CAT 4 Guarantee, at the same price tier difference as on release, on cheapest pricing.

This time I went straight for a CAT 4,

That is true - if you are already booked and want to change categories you are priced at whatever the tier was for when you first booked it.

This may help you get an idea of what the prices are. Hopefully someone that is booked in a cat 9 that booked it when it first opened can come along and answer the question for you

Hmmmm I didn't realize they'd give you the same tier pricing. I'll keep that in mind in the future. :thumbsup2 Don't tell DH though! ;)

WE ARE IN!!!!

For the longest time, I thought I was going to cancel this cruise that I tried so hard to book. Now we just got off Magic for our first ever Xmas cruise and I was talking to DH about booking New Year cruise for 2008. So I said that what about the 15 night cruise, he said that why don't we go?!! He tought I have already cancelled it. He works A LOT even while on the ship, he racked up so much internet and phone charge while onboard for this past 7 night night trip. So I thought 15 nights will be way too long for him. I was so surprised that he loved it so much, he originally was the one totally against it saying why would he ever want to be on the ship for 7 nights, this and that....

So the next step, I would love to join the Dis group, there are 4 of us, but I can't find the place to sign up.

Thanks!!

Congrats and welcome back. But thoose internet costs for 15 nights$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

As I posted above they did for me in 2005!

Yes I saw that & I would imagine that would make more sense if I stopped to think about it, since you are not cancelling & rebooking a reservation, but just making a category change.

So weren't the cat. 9s appx. 6k for a family of four on day 1? Anybody know?

Well, that is definitely not what they told me. I am trying to get a higher category and DCL told me I would pay at what the category was currently. If you think about it it would probably be unrealistic of DCL to figure out what tier I happened to get the 1st time.

My Cat 4, for 4 people was £11k,( inc DCL Insurance) so whilst I do not know Cat 9 price looks reasonable.

DCL had it recorded for me.

This is how it has always worked for me. I just switched categories on one yesterday and that was the case. Whatever the current price is the price you get. Also, if you add someone to the room, they are priced at the current price, even if you are not switching categories or changing anyone else (in other words, the first people will stay at the rate they booked at but the additional people will pay the current rate.).

Diane said...."after chat Friday night I took Motrin & went to bed"

Diane, maybe you should have taken Mike to bed instead of Motrin......sorry, couldn't resist...........:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I do hope you feel better though, really I do.........

Randy is that you??? :rotfl2:

Thanks Andy I appreciate it! Maybe whatever is ailing me will disappear again? I hope! :confused3

OK I had my hopes up so I called DCL again.
The rep 1st said I would pay the current price and I asked her to check further as it seemed people were getting different answers. She put me on hold and said she checked w/ her supervisor and an upgrade definitely would be paid at the current rate. I assume it would be the same for a downgrade. If someone can get confirmation to the contrary, please let me know as I do not think it is worth paying the current prices.

I "think" our cost for 3A and a teenager 17 was around $7200.00 for a cat. 9, I'd have to go back and look to make sure, but that figure comes to my mind.

They don't need to figure anything out. It is all in your reservation. All they do is change the category and the new price comes up

1) Tell us something about your spouse we probably don't know...?

He can't drink alcohol for medical reasons (not alcoholism:rolleyes1 )

2) Have you considered any new Years' resolutions? If so, would you like to share them?

Exercise more:confused3

3) When you proposed or were proposed to last - what was passing through your mind silently? Anything in particular worth sharing?

"OMG he's finally got the ring"- he spent 2 months shopping for just the right one -he's an optics major:rolleyes:

4) If you have a PET... what did he or she do the last time they were "naughty"?

The cats like to play with things, like medicine containers

5) When was the last time you were sick more or less? What did you comedown with?

breast cancer-March 2007, caught very early, no problem :confused3 Otherwise I'm extremely healthy (knock on wood)

6) When was the last time you got a ticket (moving violation, infraction or parking)

1993, I was stopped for speeding, but the officer let me go with a ticket for failure to obey a traffic sign:rolleyes1

7) And for thefinal question posed in 2007 ... by popular demand.... Tell us something about you we (probably) don't know... !

I'm hard of hearing (sometimes a blessing, sometimes not;) ) I wear hearing aides

I think some of these questions are perhaps difficult to reply to - if we get few responses - or a number of skipped replies I would not be surprised. I will be among the first few to reply in good faith.... in a few minutes AFTER the first 2 replies post.

If more categories open up just call and ask what the cost would be to change to the one you want and see what happens

Diane ours was under 7k for the 4 of us (2A,1ST,1K) with no insurance, transfers or discounts for Cat 9.
