8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC Part 2

Last time they only released one of the repos at 8 am. They didn't book the other until 1 pm or so.

Problem was, the people calling to book didn't know that.

Hey have you guys seen the new re-do-it show called "My Parents House" ?
Its hilarious. It will remind you all of your parents home. The one they did last week could have been mine that I grew up in. You know all the knick-knacks and the blue carpet and old furniture........They redo the room and the seniors stand there looking like "This is awful, I want my old room back"

That must be the show I caught part of a few days back. They were painting the room plaid! They weren't too happy, but it did look pretty nice when it was done.

Here's a happy thought: The predicted low for Anchorage is 34

It is 29 with the wind chill out there right now & the kids have been out riding their bikes for over 30 minutes. They are going to turn into icicles!

Ok I have been trying to get caught up for the last hour and more and more notes keep coming in!!!!!


We just transfered our reservations from DCL to DU andI am working with Regina. I sent a note to her yesterday about the 10% rebooking discount and she said she didn't think that would be available on the reposititioning cruises (wasn't last time) but we would still be able to combine stateroom credits.....

It actually was allowed last time if you called & modified a reservation. You couldn't combine a new resie with an old one & transfer the OBC & discount to the new resie. This snafu with DCL actually cost DU quite a bit because they gave their clients the 10% credit themselves. to DU for doing that!

Okay what is wrong with this picture? Where we are it is 29 and 31 and in Colorado and Anchorage it is warmer.

Thanks for the update....this is all new to me and I thought I had screwed up by transferring prior to do the switch with DCL....Regina said we kept our OBC from DCL and then they would add theirs when the cruise is changed to the 8/17/08 one. But she wasn't sure about the 10% discount part....

I don't think I've been productive at work for the last week or so. Will it get better after I have booked or will I go right into planning mode?

So I just got this Mouse newsletter thing that comes to Central Florida Community Leaders. Probably old news but there was some new stuff to me.

1. Annie Liebowitz(sp?)- is only using the stars like Beyonce, David Beckham, and Scarlett Johansson for a photo collection to bring Disney images to life.
2. We knew about the Nemo thing at EPCOT but did you guys know about a NEMO live show in AK and a Monsters Inc. show in MK?

Thats it.

Well, gotta go meet up woth the GS cookies truck and get a few more cases. We have gotten 235 cases (12 boxes each) so far...

Then off to eat. Think I'll have some chicken too. We'll just stop off at the restaurant since it is close to where I have to pick DD up after dance.

I have a friend that is sailing on the Magic this week. I'm waiting to hear back from him to see if DCL is offering any other specials for the Summer of 2008 if you book on the ship this week.

He sent me an e-mail this morning, but he didn't mention hearing anything yet. Now that I think of it, he might be trying to snatch up my cabin, that little sneak.

Gosh just when you think you got it wired then you find out you have no clue.

DW had a similar incident with the brakes on our (then) brand new Honda. We ordered it because she had to have the navigation system And since she (via her dad) knew the managing director of the dealership, they were very accomodating. Anyway about 2 months later there was this odd squeek coming from the brakes. Well she told the service dept about it when she took it in to have the woodgrain kit installed (Honda ran out at the factory and shipped it later). He said they would take a look and off it went. When she got it back about 2 hours later the service guy said the tech looked at the brakes and test drove it but didn't see a problem. It was at this point that DW reached into her purse and asked "How did he examine the brakes if I have the wheel lock here with me?" The service manager's gasp nearly sucked all the air out of the room!

She said the next thing she knew they whisked it it back into a service bay and all 4 wheels came off! Her friend the dealeship manager AND the owner of the automall (he owned all 5 franchise brands at that auto park) came over because there was a note in our file that she was George's friend. Well it turns out that, of course, the brakes were never checked but the tech DID road test the car as evidenced by the Taco Bell wrapper left inside! He got a one week "vacation" for that stunt!

The brakes just needed a minor adjustment and were fine after that. But she did get a free wash & detail plus a free lunch at Bennigan's They also sent her a $100 mall gift card for her troubles!

Justice and courtesy prevail... in my case all I probably got was deafening silence.... oh well...

So, I just got off the phone with Chuck at All Seas - I called to give him my priority list for rooms. Their list is still open, but they are giving priority to previous cruisers, people who are moving an existing All Seas reservation & Repos. He was downright chatty. He said they worked all weekend so they are in really good shape for Wed. He offered me all the doughnuts I want if I could make it to their office to help! He said he would wait until a decent hour to call me - NNNOOOOO! I told him to wake me up. I need to drag myself to the computer to add a banner to my sig!!! Oy, I have a 10 pm hockey game Wed. night - I need to figure out when to take a nap.

What is really fun is that the 3 inches of compacted snow on all the streets is turning into water and will eventually freeze again. This happened last Feb., we had an 'ice day' from school/work. We were actually playing hockey on our street - in our skates.

They're 8 and 6. They're awesome. My wife's a prof at Devry and finishing her PhD sometime in the next 12-15 months, so we're hoping to celebrate on the MAGIC in August.

I guessed from the photo your girls were close - my DSs are 6 & 8!
I'd love to do the PhD thing - I've been a adjunct prof. for the last 4 years, I love teaching, just can't make a living without the PhD. I don't think DH & DSs are ready to put up with "student Mom" again so soon. I earned my MA about 2.5 years ago. Our first DCL was my 'thank you' to the family for putting up with me!
