FYI - I got an email from Marla at DU assuring me they will give the OBC/SBC if you transfer your reservation to them by EOD 1/31.
Are they replying to emails today? I sent them an email almost a week ago and I haven't had a response. Kathy, who helped me on my last cruise, is unavailable until after 2/1.

I've finally caught up from last night - note it hasn't been easy to do that and work at the same time:rotfl: !

I emailed Debra over there today asking if she wanted my other $750 today to make it easier on Wednesday - I haven't heard back yet but I only sent the email this morning.

Anyway, back to work for the rest of the afternoon. Catch you all later!

I just got off the phone with a very nice gentleman from All Seasons and got a lot of reassurance for those of us who decided to try to book on our own. According to him, TAs do have their own number to call, but they get busy lines also as there are many TAs booking multiple cruises (obviously). When they get a hold of someone, they have to book each cruise seperately (one at a time) and can not just say "I need X amount of Cat 5, X amount of Cat 10" etc then fill in the blanks. Beings I have not been put on a TA's waitlist yet, I would be at the bottom of their list so I would be the last person they booked for (theoretically). Of course by this time the price could have easily risen, etc, etc. He mentioned one TA in their office being on the phone for about 6 hours :scared1: with a CM who took multiple breaks during their call (lunch, etc).

We talked about the rising prices and he likened it to the stock market at opening bell.:rotfl: Of course he did mention that a big problem last time was people making multiple requests through different TAs.

Hope this is a reassurance to anyone calling on their own. If you already have a ressie number that you are switching from it will make the process much faster and easier.:goodvibes

Well in less then 48 hours it should be official that we finally have this cruise booked .....gonna be stressful on wednesday ....I am still nervous that they will run out of balcony rooms ...

The logical thing would be to stagger the release of these cruises, say on 31st Reops only, then a couple days latter the Mexican seven days etc, thats pressure of cruises, DCL staff, phones, T/a's website etc.

That sounds about right and the same here ...LOL :lmao: :lmao:

Why not instruct a T/a and avoid your blood pressure rising so much, let alone the phone bill.

Well, I'm kind of a "hands on" sort and since DU isn't taking requests for this until after 2/1, I want to try it myself...besides, I think I'll be in good company ;):rotfl:

This is great news ...cause with the three rooms we need this should be a total in 800 OBC ...wahoo

Here's my email to her and her reply:

Hi Susan

If we receive your cruise transfer request on 01/31 you will receive the SBC Dreams is offering.

I hope this helps and that you are having a great day!

Marla

I saw that you have message on the website saying that you won't take any reservation requests until 2/1. Will you still be giving the OBC if I send in the reservation transfer request on 1/31?

Thanks again,
Susan

This is exactly the reason I'd rather do it myself. I may not get in right away, but I think I have a better chance of booking one cabin by myself then being at the bottom of someone's list. I'm always last minute on this stuff so I didn't get on a waiting list & I made the huge mistake of not booking a dummy date while on board in August! :sad2:

I also don't think there is any way the verandahs will all be booked right away either, but I am afraid the prices will be out of my reach! DH is starting to back out already when I told him what I was pretty sure the price was going to end up being. He said, "Do you know how much overtime I have to do to make that kind of money????" He doesn't understand how I let this thread & the thought of being on the Magic for 2 weeks consume me! :guilty:

:thumbsup2 :thanks: Unfortunately, it does lend itself to the multiple booking theories. i.e. "I'll call too even though my TA is calling, then I've got twice the chance of a room."

There should be a way for Disney to limit individuals in quotes. For example, if John Smith of Anytown, USA has quote requests with TA 1 and TA 2. TA 1 gets through first and processes a stateroom reservation for John Smith. If TA 2 then calls in, maybe the DCL rep could say something like "I see John Smith already has a quote/hold in the system for that particular cruise. Please have TA 1 call in if he would like to add on, change or release the existing quote."

Aren't we full of logic here today that apparently DCL lacks!:lmao:

I've spent the last hour getting caught up on this thread so excuse me if this all old news:

I need a piano for DD too! She has been taking piano lessons for the last 2 years & practices on a key board. BJ's had the electronic mini-grand that DH wanted to get & it did have the weighted keys, but I still hope to buy a used "real" piano.

Tina: Both my kids are starting new schools that fall (high school & middle school) so I would not have them miss the first week for that reason. Luckily we should be going back after Labor Day that year. However, if they were already established in a school & getting decent grades, I would not hesitate to keep them out for the first week.

Crash: I think it was you that asked about groundhogs? Well with all the speculation about prices, it reminded Judy of the movie Groundhog with Bill Murray. So the running joke was that everytime we saw talk of pricing...we were seeing groundhogs!

Oh & about Norton! :sad2: I had a virus I could not get rid of a few months back so I had to pay Norton an extra 60.00 on top of what I was already paying them to guard my computer. I ended up talking to a gentleman from India & it was so stressful because I could not understand him through his thick accent & me being computer illiterate was just aggravating him. He ended up just going into my computer & taking care of it himself, but that was after hours of dealing with them through emails, phone calls, etc. I now have another virus software & hopefully it will protect my computer better.

Back from lunch. We went to Pot Bellys.

I going for a cat 9. I'll see when we go on our 7-day western on 2/24 how much I use the verandah. Last year we were upgarded on a 3-day cruise from a 9 to 6. It really was too short to really enjoy it.

I thought you said you only made it through the first hour , Barbossa is in the last 2 minutes ...

Oh, I've seen twice in the theater and maybe once or twice since I bought the DVD.

OH NO!!!! I should delete this before the Captain sees it!

Go with the real piano if you can. Even with "weighted" keys, the electric still do not feel the same.

Get a real one Tom. We have the first Yamaha you have pictured. It is neat and the girls love to play the preprogrammed music. I think it can do a lot of things too, but we haven't even tried. But the girls would much rather us get a real piano as the weighting of the keys makes a big difference with lessons. My sister's co-worker is supposed to be giving us one they don't want any more.

I know now...

... that I won't get away with the affordable Yamaha. We went to Costco to buy some basic stuff and look at the pianos. The local piano store seems to have "stiff" prices - so I am reluctant to buy there - as I would rather spend a little more on something that is likely to serve better. I know having the trading feature is a powerful bit of flexability though.

BTW - I did not make it clear in my original posting = but the yamha at top left and the suzuki baby grand were at Costco - while the other two yamahas' were found at a local piano store. On the walls of this store were all these autographed photos from fameous musicians - like Qunicey Jones and so on. They had a couple of other stores too - one of which was in Beverly Hills. So I knew this place was not the $0.99 store equivulant of a piano store.

So - without having discussed this at length with my spouse - I can confide that my inclination at present is to check for the road show schedule at the local Costco stores to see when a Piano exhibitor will visit. We have several within a 30 mile radius - so a little checking or a couple phone calls might give us a chance to see what these sellers have to offer.

Thanks for your opinion. It is appreciated.
