Just a drive by posting to ask for prayers. I've got to get back to the hospital.

Trevoy got hurt playing football today. He fell and hit his head hard on the concrete. He's got a skull fracture and swelling on the brain. So far his neurological tests are all fine. He can respond and move whatever you ask him too. They said it's a small fracture but they are still being very cautious. They've transferred him to a larger hospital 30 minutes away, but they have a pediatric ICU there.

And then when I called my mom to tell her, I found out my aunt probably won't make it through the night. She's my mom's only living sibling. She has a ruptured bowel and is on a ventilator. They can't get her stabilized enough for surgery. She's down in southern CA, about a 9 hour drive. My mom is torn. She doesn't know whether to stick around here for Trevoy or go to see her sis. Although it looks like it may be a funeral she'd go down for.

Monica, how scary - You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers :grouphug: My deepest condolences on the passing of your Aunt.

Happy Birthday Andrew!!!

pirate: 'ing to wish you a Happy Birthday.

Thank goodness MIL doesn't know that cop accused of killing his wife (and his previous wife) lives in our subdivision....

Ya know, J.R., I thought that was you the lived in the same town, but the same neighborhood :scared1: :scared1:. Do you actually know him?

I'll never ketchup, but did skip back to see who scored the pirate -

Care to share your secret, Roger? I promise I won't tell anyone ;)

Nope. But it did have an awful lot to do with DH getting a new posting at Falcon AFB and the USAF not moving girlfriends. So we found his base chaplain and did the deed. Not terribly romantic - but quite practical. Hum. That's rather descriptive.

In any case, the whole thing was to be kept a secret as my DDad was going to perform the service, and we had set a date, and the church, and the presents, etc. etc. etc. It was going to be too much bother to deal with all the questions.

I told my brother as we worked at the same place and it was likely he'd hear and swore him to secrecy - he's keeps secrets good. DH didn't tell anyone.

Little did we know, this was the first official act of a brand new chapliancy. Our marriage made his WAR report. And it made the summary WAR report. And it made that summary WAR report. When DH started getting wedding gifts from coworkers we knew we had a problem. (I mean, who actualy reads those things?) Turns out our marriage made the WAR report for four levels up -must've been a slow news week. Nearly the entire freakin' AF knew. So, much for keeping it quiet... :rotfl2: I just love it that the leak was from USAF. :lmao:

So, we had to call home and confess. :rolleyes1 It was less of an issue for us as they'd already blessed the engagement, and I think Dad was just glad to be rid of his 30-yr-old daughter. :lmao:

And of course we had to deal with all the questions we were trying to avoid. (What about the church. Do we send gifts now? )

Well, you had a better reason than us. We got married for the car insurance.

Shortly before Christmas 1990, we were involved in an auto accident that totalled my then-fiancee's car. (We had been engaged for about six months and planning to be married in October 1991 after I finished college). We decided to buy a new car together, which we did, but then found out no one would give us car insurance together because we were not married. We got our blood tests, went to the courthouse and were married and bought the car two days later.

We later moved our real wedding to December to be closer to Christmas. No one knew except our minister and we've always celebrated the December date. We had to keep it a secret primarily for SWMBO's family, mainly her Catholic grandmother, who also did not know we were living together. (Janie's dad had no problem with this -- he was happy that her rent was cut in half because she was living with someone...)

:grouphug: Monica, I saw from Chris' post Trevoy is getting the best care and it looks good. So sorry for the loss of your Aunt. We'll keep you in our thoughts.:grouphug:

Hey, nice to see you around again -- I've been wondering about you and hoping you were okay. Can you believe this time last year we were trying to figure out how to fit all our shoes into our suitcases before 10 days on the Magic?

Our subdivision is pretty large (more of a "planned community" than a subdivision) and his side is separated by a through-street, but I do cut through there all the time heading to the shopping centers on the other side. Was shocked the first time I drove past and saw all the satellite trucks out front. My DD was just at a birthday party the other day over near there -- a lot of kids at her day care are from that subdivision as were many people on her soccer team.

I don't know the guy but I know a guy on the force who knows him. He said it is hard to believe if it turns out to be true.

Why the heck do we keep shooting at eachother?? Seems more so lately than 'normal'. 'Tis the season I guess.

Gangs and such.... I would encourage anyone with ST or SPT to attend a gang awareness seminar if offered in your school district, church, etc. These gangs love to recruit rich suburbanites to abuse and to give them ins to where to rob, etc.

I actually have a great aunt who isn't speaking to me anymore because I didn't respond to every one of these e-mails she forwarded to me. :guilty:

Would it be too mean to send this to her?

I "cured" a few people of e-mailing me. Whenever I got one of those e-mails, I would go to snopes and cut/paste the whole debunking and a link, begin the reply with "you should really check these with snopes or another site before you send them out" and provide link. Oh, selecting "reply to all" is important too. 2-3 times embarrassed, they no longer e-mail me the junk

Kinda like my cousin who had been living with her Free Will Baptist Minister fiance for a year before the wedding.... of course, she had to try to get her drunken Irish family (7 Aunts/Uncles & spouse, about 20 cousins) to not say anything. Since there was no drinking on church property and everyone was hung over from night before..... she made out ok.

Reading this makes me laugh (not because six teens were shot -- I am not that cold) but because it reminds me of my mother-in-law. Everytime there is some incident in Chicago on the news, she calls to see if we are okay. My wife is always telling her there are over 8 milllion people here. It probably wasn't us.

Thank goodness MIL doesn't know that cop accused of killing his wife (and his previous wife) lives in our subdivision....

At least with the cop, you seem safe as long as you or SWMBO don't marry him....

Monica, our thoughts and prayers are with you, Trevoy and your Mom.:grouphug:

Hi Gang!

I talked to Monica while she was on her way to the hospital w/pedi intensive care. This is such a Wonderful support group - she needs all of our prayers & hugs right now. The prognosis looks very good for him - thank God. Boy, she has been through a really rough time lately!!!

Sadly, her aunt did pass away today.

Its tough to have all of this happen during the Holidays!!

Thanks for the update Chris. I hate to hear that, but so glad to hear the news about her son. I agree we are a wonderful support group.:goodvibes

I do that a lot too! I will at least send a link to snopes to the person who emailed me & sometimes I'll reply all. I especially hate when I get one that tells you to boycott some company for something that is completely false. I don't know how much damage something like that does to a corporation, but it just doesn't seem right to me. :sad2:

Hey Mary Ann glad you're back! How was Florida?

I think Roger's secret involves some kind of mathematical equation that utilizes statistics and a stop watch.

Good morning everyone!

Long time no post. Hope everyone is well.

Monica, your son is in our prayers. Hope he is doing well.:grouphug:

We're all busy with preparing for the Holiday, rushing around trying to get things done.

Started Nastassjas (Fincantieri's daughter)costume yesterday. AWE ES Pirate King. Cut out the material and basted it together. Lots of leather in that costume. This is certainly a challenge.

Hope everyone enjoyed the AWE DVD. Always learn something new when we watch it.

Have a nice day!:)
