We actually have nasty weather coming here tomorrow night. They say snow, sleet, freezing rain.:scared1: I thought I moved away from that?:confused3

Tina, Tina, Tina - You really didn't think you were going to get GOOD winter weather in CHICAGO?!?!? Did you? :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rolleyes1

I'm bummed about this storm because we have our concert Saturday evening. We are singing Handel's Judas Maccabeaus and its not like oratorio music ever fills the theater - bad weather is going to make for a very small audience. Also, my MIL is supposed to be driving up from Park Forest to babysit DS8 and I'm not sure that will happen if there is freezing rain and sleet!

I won't make it to chat this week either - we have a rehearsal tonight from 7pm-10pm and I will collapse after that since 3 hours of standing and singing is exhausting!

Pamela (pdarrah)

Just wondering if anyone on gty has been allocated a room yet?

Nothing here yet.

We did "Messiah" in high school, I know what you're talking about on all counts!

Oh, yes. I hope everyone has a great Friday.:goodvibes :goodvibes I am really gonna try to make it to chat tonight. :)

Good Morning America said that KY ranks #48 as being one of the most depressed states. That's depressing.

If I'm interpreting this correctly, being #48 should be a good thing. If it is a ranking of the most depressed, then #1 would be a very sad place to be. But being #48 in a pool of #50 means KY is a pretty happy place. At least that's how I read it. :confused3

Edited:
Ok, just read Kristina's post. Guess KY is supposedly 'depressed'. Not in my expreience though. Loved it and the people when I visited.

Thanks for the silly Santa pics! :santa: :santa: :santa:

Ya know what Julie. I just remembered that in my past visits I would arrive on Jan 1 and although the holiday decorations were still up, Santa had already left. I'm not sure you'll get to see him. Not trying to be a downer, I just want you to be prepared just in case.

Good Morning Everyone............
Just a quick hello. I am working from home today till 6:30. Computer running slow this morning, maybe I can ketchup up here a little.

I don't know how you guys work and dis?:confused3 Maybe I just can't multi task like you.:rotfl2:

Shh....don't tell my boss....here's my secret. Fortunately I have 2 computers to work with. I sign onto my work network via the desktop. Then when I feel like taking a little break, I get out the laptop to DIS. I leave the work stuff up on the desktop and keep an eye on it. If an email or instant message pops up, I take care of it. Then it's back to the laptop.

When I'm in the office, thats a whole other story. We won't go there.

Well, it's true that he might not be there after Christmas day . . . needing a rest after all the toy deliveries, etc. . .

Thanks for the warning, Monica -- I can make do with the fabulously silly picture you posted!

Edited to add............Even though this is open to everyone and anyone on this thread............It would have to be the first 47 people that PM that they are going.:rotfl2:

So what do you think?

I also wan't to mention that Chuck & I don't want the liabilty issues for having Acohol so I hope that's o.k with everyone. There will be however plenty of food other things to drink and lot's of fun. Not to mention good company.:goodvibes

I'm going to seriously keep an eye on airfare. If I find something, I'll check with you before booking to see if there is still room available. Some would think I'm crazy for flying CA to IL for a meet, but may I humbly remind you of my user name? It ain't got2travel for nothing!

Is that 48 out of 100? That's not so bad. What was number 1?
If I keep on this thread I probaly won't be making chat. After dinner it's really the only time I can actually spend time talking with Chuck.

The phone hasn't been ringing.:confused3 The other day they had the wrong number and that's why I wasn't getting calls. As soon as they corrected it bam it was non-stop. I better be a good worker and check into this............

Wow.....when did we get 50 new states? I missed that.

Yes, you better:goodvibes

GMA does not know what they are talking about. The average American is in the top 8% in annual earnings on the PLANET with annual earnings of $28,567 (all Americans above age 15 in 2006 ). And being considered "ranked" in some respects is no indication how one might be ranked in other respects. Consider the following:

Among some favorable statistics I found are that KY is well ahead of the national average for home ownership with 70.8% versus 66.2% in 2000. Also, folks in KY are somewhat more independent apparently with fewer persons per houshold than the average in the USA with 2.47 versus 2.59 in 2000.

Other curious 2006 comparisons. California employed 8.9x the number of people (legally) while our unemployed ranks were equal to 45.7% of the total number employed in KY. While Kentucky employed more than 3x the number of people compared to Hawaii. And KY employed significantly more then 3x the number employed in Alaska, Deleware, D.C., Montana, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Dakota and Vermont. In Kentucky's #1 employment sector - manufacturing they ranked 21st in the nation employing 261,400 persons.

And not to neglect a sensitive issue of personal income. Although it is not within the first quintiel - Kentucky ranks greater or within 1% of of the per capita personal income levels of 8 states. IE, KY personal income is $28,317 and 8 states had 101% of this level = 28,600 or less. And if we were to consider how many states are within 110% ($31,148) or less of Kentuckys' PCIncome level as being similar in standing then the number grows to 20. And if were to consider how many states had 120% or less of Kentuckys' income (33,900) then the number grows to 29.

Remember, the national average income is only $28,567 which is only $250 more then the average in Kentucky... so to say Kentuckians are in the most depressed state is a rediculous and insensitive statement... IMO. Rather, I would consider folks in HIGH COST states who earn average incomes to be really struggling. The disparity between average incomes and that which is necessary to achieve nominal lifestyles is more extreme. I see folks really struggling and fustrated in some parts of California - while for example in Hawaii there is more happiness in general. Maybe this is itself a rediculous SUBJECTIVE observation... and yeah ... it is. But it is still a noteworthy observation.

So 54% of the states are within 20% or less of Kentucky's income level. And 40% are within 10% or less of Kentucky's income level. I could easily consider a state with 20% or 10% greater income as being about the same to slightly varying degrees. And 16% of the states have the exact same or less income levels of Kentucky (101% or less). AND ... the final consideration - restated here because it rings so true... the average person in Kentucky (or anywhere in the USA) ranks in the top 8% in global income. AND ... if you happen to earn $47,500 then you would rank precisely at the top 1% of the world! And at $100,000 you're at the top 0.66% of the world. And... $150,000 puts you at the top 0.33% of the world.

AND FINALLY... if you earn $198,936 then you are right at the top 0.01% of the world. Or the top earner on average among 10,000 on the planet. I know, that does not seem like much but it is if you pause to consider. And even among the average Americans - a working couple sits at the top among 25 on average in the global population.

Anyone wanna guess how many of my statements are made up or drawn in error? Well... the global income calculator was drawn from

However, the US census data is considered reliable.

Am I so strange to find this sort of information to be of interest?

Thanks Tom, you sure lifted my spirits. They were talking about depression though:goodvibes :goodvibes

I'm glad Monica. Seems like most people I know and meet here are pretty happy folks.:)

Liz: You house is amazing ! Wish I could get away with all the Disney decorations. ST would have a fit.:rotfl2: As it is now my bedroom door has to be closed when her friends are over because she is well you..........Adults shouldn't have a Disney bedroom.:rotfl2:

Well I have a set of full size Tink sheets! STs gotta love them. She'll get over it!

Is there any GOOD winter weather in the Great Lakes?

Is there any GOOD winter weather in the Great Lakes?

Not really! :rotfl:

Actually, I do like winter (sort of) - I do enjoy some winter sports like cross-country skiing and ice skating. When we get a good snow and evrything is covered and the woods look like fairyland, it is very beautiful. AND we couldn't have our glorious springs if we didn't have our winters. ... I could do without the cold (I'm always the person wearing the turtle-neck, a sweater and a jacket INSIDE the house!) and I hate it when it is just cold and dreary with no snow or just old dirty snow.

My crazy parents are taking my DS8 on an intergenerational Elderhostel right after Christmas up in Northern Minnesota (about an hour North of Deluth) where they are going to ice fish, snowshoe, hike, etc. They are even going to get a ride with a sled-dog team. I don't even want to THINK about how cold that is going to be. I've been buying DS extra hats, gloves, snowpants, etc. and am looking for thermal longjons for him!

We are on the other end of the scale, just saw on one of the local Philly news stations that New Jersey is the 3rd least depressed state. :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

ETA: Just ketching up and I saw Kristina had already posted some of the other states on the list.

Darn i need your friends realllllly bad.

I almost quit my job today. My boss is an add.

My computer died last wednesday and i had no access to the sytem until two days ago (monday) due to the holiday.

Apparently he was complaining to me that it was my fault that i was a week late (ie 7 days) on the projects i had due that day.

UGGGGGG!!!!

Actually it was only 2 business days since i have no access to the building on holidays or weekends (again he says that's my fault.)

Double UGGGGGG!!!!

I was so mad i was shaking.....:sad2:

I almost have to quit because my next person up the management chain is best friends with my boss.

Time to re-type the old resume i guess...Maybe re-build some bridges....

Sorry to hear your job is getting you down! Definitely time to move on....life's too short!

Hey Hey Paula............now just waiting for someone to post lyrics of song.:rotfl2:

Congrats on having your 3000th post.:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

GlitterMickey.jpg

Paul:
Hey, hey Paula, I wanna marry you
Hey, hey Paula, no one else will ever do
I've waited so long for school to be through
Paula, I can't wait no more for you
My love, my love

Paula:
Hey Paul, I've been waiting for you
Hey, hey, hey Paul, I want to marry you too
If you love me true, if you love me still
Our love will always be real
My love, my love

Both:
True love means planning a life for two
Being together the whole day through
True love means waiting and hoping that soon
Wishes we've made will come true
My love, my love

You asked for it! :rolleyes1

I thought I was the only one old enough to remember that song.

Um nope unfortunately you're not!

We?...there's that thoughtful little mouse in your back pocket talking again.

I just checked SWA. I could get $79 each way out of Dulles or BWI.

Hmmmmm:rolleyes1 Could i bring my sleeping bag?

I looked into airfare to for the heck of it, but I can't get anything less than about 120 each way. Guess it's another meet I won't be able to make. :sad1:

Ok the past couple of days we have been putting up our xmas decorations.. let me know what you think

IMG_0002.jpg

I'm thinking that I am jealous on sooooo many levels! First the decorations are gorgeous and your house looks so festive. Second it must be so nice to put out decorations without freezing your behind off & those big puffy things won't be frozen to the ground. And last....That would be my dream house in Florida where I wish I was right this minute, because if I see another day with dreary skies I'm going to lose it completely! Sorry I take that back, because I think I already have! :sad2: Did somebody say something about depressed states?

*** Important Updates ***

Sorry forgot to mention since I wasn't on here yesterday..........:rolleyes1
Chuck will be going on this Toal ! It may be the only vacation for next year but he was already approved for it !!:goodvibes

2nd thing...........I am going to put a deposit for the clubhouse. We can only have the party when office is closed so instead of doing a night one, I am planning one for Sunday March 30th.

I have a limit of only 50 people max.:sad1: Everyone and anyone on this thread is invited !!!

I will take pictures this weekend of clubhouse and post for all to see. ( just keep in mind it's set-up for Christmas now. )

As long as I don't nail anything in wall..........I can pretty much do what I wan't and trust me the  are already flowing.

I will host the party as a gift from us to you.:goodvibes

Man, Tina I wish we could come. Just checked airfare:scared1: I wish it wasn't a 5 hr. drive each way:sad2: Sounds like alot of fun:goodvibes

I was hoping to come by and hear you sing since you're down in my neck of the woods (if you can use that phrase to refer to Naperville), but it looks like DS14 has qualified for the swim meet tomorrow evening.
