HAPPY ANNIVERSARY ANDY AND HAZEL

Andy...I'm so sorry I missed this yesterday!!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

My first time in the UK, a long time ago, visiting our office in Swindon, I told the cab driver I'd get so lost on all of the roundabouts, so he asked me if I wanted to see the "Magic Roundabout". So he took me around it. No way I could ever drive it.

My kids were impressed I'd worked in a building (also in Swindon) that was once in a James Bond movie, though, so that's something.

lifemagi1.jpg

If you want to avoid magic roundabouts, also avoid going to Hemel Hempstead as they are partial to them to. Not sure why you'd go there unless you wanted to see the remains of Buncefield!

Cheryl, I LOVED the pics of you and John and your darling, darling granddaughter!! ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo princess:

Doing much better today. Whew. Trying very hard to be patient, and be a GOOD patient!!

I've been trying to get things ready for me to fly to Omaha (Nebraska) on Sunday. My Dad's eye surgery is Tuesday. I think I'm pretty well prepared, and pretty much at a point where I should do okay with the travel. I'm just so glad to be able to go and lend whatever support I can. And quite frankly, glad to go to their house where it's always nice and quiet!

They had several round-abouts where we were at in Turks and Caicos, and they drive on the left, too. What a FUN experience that was!!
:rotfl: :rotfl:

MaryAnn....I'm going to post this a day early. Tomorrow will be a busy day for me, and I didn't want to forget. Hope Julia doesn't mind!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JULIA!!!

One day early :goodvibes :goodvibes

Thanks Stace!!! :goodvibes

From time to time, I get the house here all to myself, I cherish those moments!!! ;)

Don't get me wrong, I love my DW and DD, but I also like some alone time, if you know what I mean...........:upsidedow

Have a safe trip!!!

Well, we have the suitcases sitting here in the livingroom and we have started getting our clothes together for our trip. We picked up quite a few travel size items yesterday at CVS. The cat sitter has been arranged. Our cruise docs have been printed off and our passports are out of the safety deposit box. Now all we have to do is wait for next Saturday to get here!!! :goodvibes

Stace, I sure hope you enjoy your trip and are able to go. I am sure your Dad and Mom are grateful too. :pixie dust for his surgery on Tuesday. I'll be thinking of you all.:)

Andy, sounds like our house. NEXT Saturday will hopefully be here befor you know it:goodvibes

We have many here in Mass too, but we call them rotaries. Go figure? And as far as I know there are no plans to replace them. None are as busy as that major roundabout in London, but we do have a few with about 4 or 5 exits.

Diane I have driven through some of those rotaries. My Mom didn't allow me to drive in Boston until I was 30 years old.:rotfl:

At least out there you guys know how to build them right. They are starting to put roundabouts around here and they make them so small you can hardly drive 15 mph through them. They wanted to put two of them on a fairly busy highway where traffic usually drives 65mph (speed limit is 55 mph) with slow downs to 15 mph to go around them. What a nightmare  Glad I work at home :goodvibes

Thats what they do here, mini roundabouts are used as traffic calming, to slow down traffic in built up residential areas, often motorist drive ''over'' them.

Where my SIL lives in Ft. Lauderdale, there are roundabouts all through the subdivisions to keep the traffic slow. I had to go through 4 before I got to her street:)

Hi all! Just back home from two weeks with the grandkids. Looks like you have been busy -- over a hundred pages -- no way I'll ever ketchup. Had a great visit with the little ones and an even better week before at Food & Wine with both daughters and my 4 year old DGD. This was her first F & W trip. She really enoyed it. Tried so many different foods I lost track. She even liked the culinary demonstrations (and the samples they served even more). DH saw the Four Tops there on Tuesday and reported that they put on a great show. Well better get back on track and start tackling the piles of work and laundry. DH is off tomorrow so if the weather is nice (60% chance of rain) we'll try for another F & W fix. If not, I'll see you in Chat.

Barbara

Barbara, glad you had a great visit:thumbsup2

We have a roundabout here in Kingston - darn thing causes more accidents than it prevents - don't know what those darn politicians were thinking:sad2:.

Hi everyone!

I was just doing some "ketchup" and noticed all the upcoming vacations and suddenly realized "Hey - I'M going on vacation in 2 weeks!". I knew it was coming - it is on all my calendars, but since it is in November and I've been so swamped here lately, it just seemed farther out than it really is. We leave the night of the 7th for a long weekend at WDW (fly home the night of the 11th). This will be our last WDW trip on our AP's - we won't be renewing them since with the TOAL we don't have any vacation time to visit WDW next year :sad1: We'll get our park fix for 2 days before the TOAL, but we won't be able to visit WDW afterwards since we have to get back for DS8's school. 2008 will be the first time in decades that we won't visit WDW at least twice!

Pamela (pdarrah)

Hello,

Just a quick visit of sorts...

Yesterday I thought our internet service went out - and I ran into town to try and catch a showing of Wicked with one daughter - but we ended up having dinner with my Dad instead. Then on returning home I found one of our kids had unplugged the cable connecting the cable modem and wifi gate. At any rate, we'll be cruising with my Dad next week. He's hosting a little cruise and picking up the tab for some other relatives too! Can't comlain if its' free, eh?

So - I'll not be around next week. <snif>

And on another note - I have not seen much as my time is limited today -
but I did notice Andy and Hazel marked thier 32nd anniversery.
How BEAUTIFUL!

Congratulations!!!

I too am early - LOL - late for Andy - early for yours'

<chuckles>

We have "round about" ...

.... AKA ... suicide circles around us...

we have to run down to Santa Barbara to find the nearest one - I think.

So - since "I" have little experience with them - you would NOT want to go through one while "I" was transiting one! :lmao:

Never drove in London, usually took the underground. The traffic looked terrible and I hate to drive even on the right side of the road (or is that the wrong side of the road :confused3 ). I did love the Brit Rail tour we took. I would like to do that again. We took a week and went from London to Edinborough(?) Scotland. My girls were impressed that we went to Paddington Station. I had to bring them back a Paddington bear. That was a few (well maybe more than a few) years ago though. I am not sure what happened to that bear. I suppose one of my girls still has it. I wanted to bring back a cement hedgehog, but my then DH wouldn't let me.:sad1:

I've driven in London before. It was easy and - yes - I drove in London right when they instituted the fee to drive in the city center. I paid my fee as our hotel was just INSIDE the area requiring the fee... RATS! However, we had a nice Hilton to stay at. We burned like 60 million Hilton Honors points for our stay - and they missed providing a Concierge level room or the benefits of such. We were supposed to get it due ot our Hilton Honors affinity level. <sigh> At least it was a nice room and hotel.

And I must say I derrive immense enjoyument from taking the subways (tube) all over. As we have nothing similar (yet). LA is building a mass subway transit system but it is still in its' infantcy.

There are two towns where I live, right next to eachother...Cave Creek (mine) is a small western tourist town...and Carefree is more of an upscale retirement community. Someone had the bright idea to put roundabouts in Carefree and we all just KNEW the older people were going to have a field day learning to use them. I think they were in place for only maybe 6 months before the town had to remove them.

G'mornin' pirate:s

Where was I last night? Coaching hockey at the Verizon Center. :)
DS7's team was selected for "Mites on Ice" so they got to play a 5 minute game between periods of the Washington Capitals-Tampa Bay Lightning game. It was prety cool. They had a very nice locker room, got to stand a few feet away as the NHL players came off the ice, and had their names and numbers up on the jumbotron. I got to coach from the NHL bench.

However, we didn't get home until about 11. I am sooo not looking forward to making my kids get up in a few minutes.

:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:
YAY!

Sounds like you had your 5 minutes of fame in a life time. :goodvibes Glad you had fun!!!:woohoo:

I read on one of their sites that they are planning on opening up thru May 9 on Nov. 8. So hopefully the summer rates will be open by January. I am patiently waiting also!

Pam, the airfares you are looking for better be for the the EBPC!!!!:rolleyes1 Just book them and there is no turning back.:rolleyes1

You just get me soo jealous of "we'll try for another F & W fix". :rotfl2: Glad you had a nice visit.:flower3: I can't wait til we move down to Florida. Four years and counting.:lmao:

Best not to drive in London unless you have to, Taxis are good the tube is generally good to get around.

I showed John the roundabout and said no way was he going to drive in London. We are hoping to go to London in 2009 with a short detour to DL Paris.

Don't forget to stand up and walk a little so you do not get a blood clot.

So noted Cheryl!!! ;)

Crash......thanks for the anniversary wishes and sorry to hear of your internet troubles. Have fun on your cruise!!! :goodvibes

I'll probably get my chance to find out how wonderful grandbabies are sometime in the next year or two.

And I used the last of my USAirways points to upgrade to 1st Class for the flight TO Omaha....not enough to do it coming back though, darn it. So I'll have a little more space to stretch, and won't feel quite so "funny" about getting up and walking a little. Plus, I still have to wear the compression stockings, so that should help some, too.

Oh Andy, I am sooo excited for you. Don't forget the extra bag for presents for all of us.:rotfl: :rotfl:

Ooooo....Andy's bringing something for ALL of us?? How sweet.....;) ;)

This gave me a chuckle, just a few minutes ago I heard a bloody scream coming from the bathroom. Angelina was getting ready to get in the shower when she spotted a tiny spider in the tub. Dad to the rescue, the spider is now taking it's final swim down the drain.

WHAT! You didn't put it on a piece of paper and take it outside? The Spider Gods are going to get you for sure.

OMG. OK, I'm sitting here looking at this and trying to figure out how it works. The only thing I can figure is that the lines in the middle are for the folks who get too frustrated to continue. So they park there!

Tell me, is there a wrecker permanantly parked nearby to pick up the pieces?

Won't make it into chat tomorrow. We're leaving for SoCal to pick up our new used tent trailer. :woohoo:

Supposing I can find someone to finish the installation of the electic brake controller. It was supposed to be "plug and play", even got picture from the internet. Does our factory installed tow package look like anything else on the face of the planet? Of course not! :headache: DH spent a couple of hours searching for the wires. No joy. So now I have to miss a really fun event at work in order to beg someone to please at least SHOW me where the frickin' wires are! Hrumph.
