My first time in the UK, a long time ago, visiting our office in Swindon, I told the cab driver I'd get so lost on all of the roundabouts, so he asked me if I wanted to see the "Magic Roundabout". So he took me around it. No way I could ever drive it.
My kids were impressed I'd worked in a building (also in Swindon) that was once in a James Bond movie, though, so that's something.

Doing much better today. Whew. Trying very hard to be patient, and be a GOOD patient!!
I've been trying to get things ready for me to fly to Omaha (Nebraska) on Sunday. My Dad's eye surgery is Tuesday. I think I'm pretty well prepared, and pretty much at a point where I should do okay with the travel. I'm just so glad to be able to go and lend whatever support I can. And quite frankly, glad to go to their house where it's always nice and quiet!
Well, we have the suitcases sitting here in the livingroom and we have started getting our clothes together for our trip. We picked up quite a few travel size items yesterday at CVS. The cat sitter has been arranged. Our cruise docs have been printed off and our passports are out of the safety deposit box. Now all we have to do is wait for next Saturday to get here!!!![]()
We have many here in Mass too, but we call them rotaries. Go figure? And as far as I know there are no plans to replace them. None are as busy as that major roundabout in London, but we do have a few with about 4 or 5 exits.
At least out there you guys know how to build them right. They are starting to put roundabouts around here and they make them so small you can hardly drive 15 mph through them. They wanted to put two of them on a fairly busy highway where traffic usually drives 65mph (speed limit is 55 mph) with slow downs to 15 mph to go around them. What a nightmareGlad I work at home

Thats what they do here, mini roundabouts are used as traffic calming, to slow down traffic in built up residential areas, often motorist drive ''over'' them.
Hi all! Just back home from two weeks with the grandkids. Looks like you have been busy -- over a hundred pages -- no way I'll ever ketchup. Had a great visit with the little ones and an even better week before at Food & Wine with both daughters and my 4 year old DGD. This was her first F & W trip. She really enoyed it. Tried so many different foods I lost track. She even liked the culinary demonstrations (and the samples they served even more). DH saw the Four Tops there on Tuesday and reported that they put on a great show. Well better get back on track and start tackling the piles of work and laundry. DH is off tomorrow so if the weather is nice (60% chance of rain) we'll try for another F & W fix. If not, I'll see you in Chat.

They had several round a bouts where we were at in Turks and Caicos, and they drive on the left, too. What a FUN experience that was!!

Hi everyone!
I was just doing some "ketchup" and noticed all the upcoming vacations and suddenly realized "Hey - I'M going on vacation in 2 weeks!". I knew it was coming - it is on all my calendars, but since it is in November and I've been so swamped here lately, it just seemed farther out than it really is. We leave the night of the 7th for a long weekend at WDW (fly home the night of the 11th). This will be our last WDW trip on our AP's - we won't be renewing them since with the TOAL we don't have any vacation time to visit WDW next yearWe'll get our park fix for 2 days before the TOAL, but we won't be able to visit WDW afterwards since we have to get back for DS8's school. 2008 will be the first time in decades that we won't visit WDW at least twice!

Never drove in London, usually took the underground. The traffic looked terrible and I hate to drive even on the right side of the road (or is that the wrong side of the road). I did love the Brit Rail tour we took. I would like to do that again. We took a week and went from London to Edinborough(?) Scotland. My girls were impressed that we went to Paddington Station. I had to bring them back a Paddington bear. That was a few (well maybe more than a few) years ago though. I am not sure what happened to that bear. I suppose one of my girls still has it. I wanted to bring back a cement hedgehog, but my then DH wouldn't let me.

We have a roundabout here in Kingston - darn thing causes more accidents than it prevents - don't know what those darn politicians were thinking.

Where was I last night? Coaching hockey at the Verizon Center.![]()
DS7's team was selected for "Mites on Ice" so they got to play a 5 minute game between periods of the Washington Capitals-Tampa Bay Lightning game. It was prety cool. They had a very nice locker room, got to stand a few feet away as the NHL players came off the ice, and had their names and numbers up on the jumbotron. I got to coach from the NHL bench.
However, we didn't get home until about 11. I am sooo not looking forward to making my kids get up in a few minutes.

YAY!
I read on one of their sites that they are planning on opening up thru May 9 on Nov. 8. So hopefully the summer rates will be open by January. I am patiently waiting also!

Best not to drive in London unless you have to, Taxis are good the tube is generally good to get around.

Oh Andy, I am sooo excited for you. Don't forget the extra bag for presents for all of us.![]()

Thanks Stace, DGD is what having children is all about!!!![]()

Don't forget to stand up and walk a little so you do not get a blood clot.![]()
I'll probably get my chance to find out how wonderful grandbabies are sometime in the next year or two.![]()
And I used the last of my USAirways points to upgrade to 1st Class for the flight TO Omaha....not enough to do it coming back though, darn it. So I'll have a little more space to stretch, and won't feel quite so "funny" about getting up and walking a little. Plus, I still have to wear the compression stockings, so that should help some, too.

This gave me a chuckle, just a few minutes ago I heard a bloody scream coming from the bathroom. Angelina was getting ready to get in the shower when she spotted a tiny spider in the tub. Dad to the rescue, the spider is now taking it's final swim down the drain.
