It's a quote from Toy Story, Woody to Buzz... While Buzz is taking over Andy's room, I think... I was trying to be cute - obviously I failed. Kindly resume your regular posting life...

For us notherns , what are Rock Shrimp:confused3 :confused3

Cheryl,

I usually get a dozen broiled rock shrimp at DC. The rock shrimp look and taste like mini lobster tails when they are broiled and cut down the middle. When we first started going to DC, I could get a whole dozen rock shrimp dinner for like 4.99, now I think the rock shrimp are about 10.99 for a dozen. Here is a link for DC in Titusville: http://www.dixiecrossroads.com/
They now have a restaurant open in Orlando, but I haven't been to that one yet, it was still under construction the last time we were in the Orlando area.

Sorry to hear about the "bad karma"....

Alas, I was involved with the "recovery" of a classic car for restoration with Alicia's cousin's husband. We drove huge distances to regotiate the deal - bring the car to port and ship it back to Hawaii. Here it is with its' proud restorer after 4 years of part time labor:

When we got it, it was completely different. However, that story is too lengthy to recant here. At any rate = there it is.

What a labour of loved, looks like great paint work too! It must be hugely rewarding to turn a car into something that fantastic to look at - a work of art.

I do restoration of 1980s Cabbage Patch Kids and although its no where near the same thing, I understand the pleasure you can get from turning your object be it a car or a doll into something beautiful.

Anyone read on the main board that you can now pre-pay your gratuities? One less thing depleting my onboard acct? Count me in!

Wow I didn't see that, that is great news!!! The NZ$ is still pretty good against the US$ so I might see if I can make a payment towards it - the TOAL will be expensive enough as it is so if we can make any payments towards it in advance it spreads the cost.

I was very excited that my family received our Castaway Club cards in the mail today. We were on DCL for the first time recently. As non-CC members, it was impossible for us to book Brunch at Palo's on our cruise. We didn't even get a dinner because of the timing. I am hoping that now we will have a good chance of getting Brunch on the PC cruise. I'm sure 99.99% will be CC members, but at least we won't be in the .01% group. I just read that repeat cruisers receive gifts when the cruise, I am just wondering,"what type of gifts have you received?"

We are also CC members but as we don't live in the US we don't get membership cards, we have to somehow extract the membership numbers from Disney the old-fashioned way (via email :rotfl2: ).

Gifts for our double-dip cruise last Sept were two mesh duffle bags with CC logos, one red and one blue (they are great for pool bags!), antibacterial hand wipes, mini tubes of sunscreen and a handful of other small items which I forget now.

We also got lanyards with pins when we checked in - or was that because we were DVC members? Not sure now.

Celestine you were asking about hot air balloons rides next year. Well I found the ultimate one for you. I just found this as one of the new giveaways for the extension of Year of a Million Dreams. Next year there will be tethered hot air balloon rides over Disneyland. The balloon will be in the shape of a giant Mickey head. I have read that it will be touring the Western States next year. Here are the dimensions.

Roger, this sounds like something Kevin would love to do! I wonder how much the "ride" will cost.

I share this out of confused curiosity. The folks involved are looked upon with great care and respect by us - and we are filled with a mixture of great sorrow - and hopes that they will salvage thier individual paths towards a reasonably rapid closure ... or point of healing.

In more ways than I can fully convey here ... I have NOT the words to express my confusion and sorrow over this.

Oh well... there it is. :surfweb: Be it as it may, this was my day.

Sorry to hear of your friends separation. Its never easy regardless of situation.

However, I would like to share with your my story. In my late teens my mother realised that my father's drinking was out of control and basically shifted herself out of the matrimonial bedroom (which I'm not going to think about too hard :rotfl2: ) to the conservatory. Once my brother left home, she took over his bedroom and when I left she moved to my old bedroom which she is still in.

Over the years she just came to considered herself to be the paid housekeeper. She never worked out of the home since she had me and felt that she would loose more leaving the home than staying - the struggle to make ends meet and find somewhere to live would be more stress than she wanted as she approached "retirement" years. Dad's wage covered all the household expenses including her overseas holidays once a year or so. She did take up a volunteer job one day a week on a Sunday (one of my Dad's days off) so she wouldn't need to be in the house with him. Saturday's he usually went out for his hobby day.

As my Dad approached retirement (early) she started to get very concerned about having him home all day, every day and was looking for a way out. However, my Dad has since given up drinking with the help of a heart attack about 6 weeks after he retired and AA.

He is now much more reasonable to live with and we have all had to lean to communicate with him again as we basically just ignored him as he wasn't worth talking to. In fact, many people didn't realise he even existed as I never spoke of him.

They still live in the same house but as "flatmates" rather than husband and wife. Dad drives Mum still a little crazy at times but she doesn't feel quite so homicidal towards him since he gave up the booze.

shifter_cars_4.jpg

Paula...

... My cousins' husband Tim has restored several classic cars. As well as raced shifter carts and for a short while - dragsters of some sort. So he is a gear head speed freak. When we recovered this particular truck there's a short story associated with it <yawn - here it comes>....

Alicia's cousin calls to ask me about something unusual... she explains that her husband is talking feverantly about flying to Los Angeles, taking a bus into Nevada to see about buying a classic truck.. which he intends to DRIVE back to Los Angeles where he'll put it one a auto transport cargo ship - then hop a cab to the airport and come home. She's worried about him doing it alone and maybe having the old car break down in the dessert - plus all manner of worry along the way. She asked if I might help or accompany him.

Well... naturally I volunteered to pick him up - drive him out and follow him back. But then... 1 week before he is to arrive he discovers a BETTER truck to investigate before he decides on the one located out in Nevada. So... he asks what it would take to go to San Jose first? Well... I do have business interests in Northern California so I set up appointments and we prepare to fly out. Only something sort of derails the flying option - I vaguely recall driving back to ensure we don't get stuck with a broken down truck plus the annoying last minute air fares. SO we drive for San Jose from LA. I don't do that too often - but what the heck, eh?

SO upon seeing the truck I frame in my mind a bid to offer... and TIm offers something like ten grand. I think silently ... " ARE YOU NUTS?".... the guy takes it. So we drive it back to LA.... and put it on a boat. Later Tim tells me the guys in Honolulu say he STOLE the TRUCK for 10 grand. I had to ask him back in San Jose if maybe the exhaustion of travel might have impaired his judgement in the purchase price offer.

TOday fully restored trucks like Tims' are cited as worth over $100,000 with all the customization. He has so many personalized and hand restored details it is mind boggling (to me). He takes me around the ruck every time I visit pointing out all the things he's been working on and the ordeals he's gone through to get each issue "just right". Among them are a perfectly hand restored interior - completely new and exotic racing engine and special remote control exhaust cut out valve. The remote valves can automatically bypass the exhaust system and mufflers to shoot exhaust straight down - out LOUD when desired by remote control. And I assume you notice the painted flames on the INTERIOR of the hood. His restored trucks are chained to the floor of his garages to make theft a little more difficult. I vaguely recall someone from Japan offerred him $175,000 for one of his customized classic trucks a few years back.

Pretty wild, eh?

Paula -

- thanks for sharing the affirming story. Alicia and I talked about this last nite. I guess I never understood what range of conditions and arrangements folks can adopt to move forward in life. I think this is actually a very wise and enlightened compromise that preserves options into the future while maintaining certain vital issues today.

I am upbeat with the positive developement your family has seen through AA in reducing / elimenating the alcohol. It's a really encouraging story when I reflect on our friends developement. We know in some cases staying together is not the right thing to do - while in other cases its good to stay together to work things out. Life is sooo complicated sometimes - I guess.

OK... gotta run now. Lots of stuff to do and I'm trying to get out ahead of traffic - and get back probably near or after midnite. TTFN

HMMMM so if i understand correctly.... If i get all the fabric and stuff and mail it all to your house by May 31st....

it should be all set for August, right....?

;) (just kidding but you'd do it for the right price?)

If you lived closer, I'd help... But I make no costumes except those for my family.

No No , I was just trying to figure out what it ment ..LOL :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

That I find the idea of an animatronic parrot on the cruise very amusing.

Hi Everyone, hope everyone is having a great day. :goodvibes

Hey Chicagoland People,

Looks like Angelina will be paying a visit your way come May 2008. Angelina's high school band and choir trip next Spring is to Chicago. Angelina brought home the intent form today. The kids are going to be kept very busy during the 5 day adventure, I got tired just reading what they will be doing. Here is a list of their activities: Hard Rock Cafe, Chicago tour w/Sears Tower, Wicked, Performances by band and choir at Jay Pritzker Pavillion in the Millennium Park, Grant Park & Buckingham Fountain, Blue Man Group, Shedd Aquarium, Lincoln Park Zoo & Conservatory, Wendella Sunset Cruise/Tour, Six Flags Great America and finally a shopping trip to the Magnificent Mile. Some trip huh?

We have already started with fundraisers to help defray the cost.

Past trips have been to Canada, Disneyland, Boston(twice) and London, England. This is Angelina's first trip with the group, she just joined the high school choir this year.

Sounds like a great trip Andy.. maybe she'll have time for a Chicago DIS meet???
