smile anywhere!

..oh, your lil'story...did i ever tell...you the time...we had a cute lil'girl
captain? :goodvibes

..dear pbadger: i am sorry for your loss, :grouphug:

..did you see my post? over the marshall players? [ i just wonder if
your friend knew terry & dave?]

.i'm...:confused3 , so we have 2 sites? who's over there's? ...the only
thing i can think of...is it the late diners? & why "we" called the "traitors?"

I did LG, but I haven't seen him. I forgot all about open house at school Monday and I keep forgetting to write it for Adam to ask him. I will do that now and I will let you know. I betcha he did.:) And I agree Bob would make an excellent AD. (now if we could just get the politics out of our ps here:rolleyes1 )

Only if we're talking about the dinner times. There's early dinner...or Main...and Late dinner.
Since Todd, our own Captain Jack Sparrow, is going to be at the early dinner time, it became known as "Captain's Dining".
And since it seems as though everyone always wants to be on the early, or Captain's dining (there are always waitlists for it) it only seemed natural that those of us who CHOSE to eat at the later time were Traitor's. Not disrespect intended.

And I must admit it was I who came up with that. :guilty:

If I had any brain cells left I could maybe try to come up with something better. But I sort of like being a little SAUCY.

Thankyou for sharing your family history. Wow. I have such respect for people who are older ( like my nana). They made our country thrive.

Orange, marinara, or bernaise? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Seriously, I seem to recall that at one point it was called crew dining, but Traitors are much more interesting.

This is my 2500th post on this thread.

I know I am supposed to say something profound and inspirational, but that's just not my style.

So I will leave you with this thought:

"The early bird gets the worm...
but the second mouse gets the cheese."

Man, J.R. that's a lot of chatting:goodvibes

Reading your story reminds me of the stories of struggle and sacrifice my parents and FIL + MIL had in thier days. [/COLOR]
Tom, that is a great story, thanks for sharing.:goodvibes

From all the concerts that have gone on sale so far she has sold out in Presale -- from pots that I have read about people trying to buy tickets. One woman posted that she tried 45mins after Presale opened and they were sold out at her venue! Dh joined the Miley fan club just to be able to get a presale code! LOL!

I bought tickets this past Wednesday as soon as presale opened and ended up with Balcony seats -- My tickets were officially *bought* 2 minutes after Presale opened. And that's the best I could get!

sounds more popular than a PC Disney Cruise :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I just dont see this law ever passing.

How does one measure square footage (which is a hot topic in the NYC apt market)? Is it from the outside dimenstion of your house, inside dimesions, how about basements that are finished or attics?

But like many tax laws... the politicians always talk about tax simplification, but they just keep on making it more and more complicated.

Keeps demand high in my field!

Yes,

I agree that this sort of measure would be VERY controversial - however, if it gets attached to something like an essential defense bill - then it gets passed into office. They've gotten the estate taxes reducing every year to ZERO (then subject to reversion at the point where it reaches ZERO)... and from my POV - who would have figured they would pass such lunacy? I mean, what purpose does this serve if not to be a half measure and TEASE?

I look upon these proposals more as inflamatory - and hence opportunities for special interests to bid for a senator or representatives' votes. Then - on the other hand is this a fair way to determine what best serves the country and its' people?

(side note) my little 3 year old just filed the toilet with toilet paper. SHe was explaining she ... "had to poop and needed to clean up a lot". Well... my spouse is having a little talk with her now - and we're under the gun to get to the soccer practice field in 17 minutes!

As I was saying - I wonder what will come of these things in congress sometimes - the things that are intended to soak the "rich"... when in reality the things that pass inevitabily hit hard working scavengers like ME... and let the folks who are not working gain greater entitlements. OK.. I better stop now and take a nice deep breath of fresh air. I'm about to pull out myh soap box and spout a lot of gibberish...

soapbox.gif

I just think it's not fair - and i like the flat tax proposals floating around out there. No skating - no angles - everyone pays the same. THAT would be fair .... OK, gotta go now....

I loved your family's story. It brought tears to my eyes. I am a third generation American. My father's family came over from Germany. My grandparents didn't speak english until they started school. ;)

I find strength in how strong our (everyone's) ancesters were -- to leave the *known* for the *unknown*. And in some cases to leave horrific situations. To do this to improve their families life -- not just for themselves but, for the betterment of everyone's life.

I'm still shopping the movie and book rights Stephanie/Paula/Chrissie <chuckles> ... interested parties can PM me to connect to my agent! Thank you for the encouragement though... it's all true. Maybe later on the cruise I can recant the stories with all the glittery details over a nice cup of coffee or ice tea? Of course, You'll have to sign a non-disclosure agreement though .... I gotta protect my publication rights, ya-knooo!!!

OK... I really gotta go now!

For ye Bay Area Swabbies & Wenches.....it seems that this years Ren Faire will have some Pirate influence (or at least that's what the radio ads have been saying).

I think we're headed there Sunday to see if there's any suitable pirate: clothing for sale :thumbsup2

Well, I was "working". What is everyone else's excuse.

i was working too......;)

Plus, may I add that Congress considering an amendment to our tax codes which would reduce or phase out the mortgage deductability on properties of 3000' or more? I only heard or read something brief about it... so be aware of this potential penalty looming on the horizon.

Actually that would be a very smart energy saving "SMART GROWTH" proposal. (4boons would know what i'm getting at.) Too many people today think that need these space wasting, energy sucking, McMansions of 6-7,000 sf and our environment just can't handle it.

I think back to my DGP's who raised a family of 4 in a small row house in Port Richmond neighborhood of Phila. It was 2 bed, 1 bath, a LR, and a K/DR and small basement. Maybe 800 sf if that. Their parents immigrated and modest surroundings were pretty much the norm. My DGF refused to leave that house and at 93 still lived there until the day before he died this time last year(he was in the hospital prior.) A little strange but he was a good provider to his Family, worked hard in his own trash pickup business, and never forgot us kids on our b-days and such.

I just think it's not fair - and i like the flat tax proposals floating around out there. No skating - no angles - everyone pays the same. THAT would be fair ....

Would it......? Think of those scrimping by at $50,000 for 2 incomes (and yes, that's 2 full time better paying jobs in many rural areas.) say 5% was the flat tax $2,500. It's a lot when you only have a little.

Now then there's joe rich guy with 500,000 a yr . He probably does live in that 6,000 sf house with his wife and "staff". He only pays $10,000 but laughs it off cause to him it's a drop in the bucket.

BTW i honestly believe it would never be as low as 5% anyway.

OOOOH look a peanut!!!!! Chat time

Ive seen flat taxes proposed at 17%! And there is no doubt the rich benefit big time if it passes (it never will). Most folks earning under $100k pay way less than a 17% average rate on their gross income and everyone making over 500k pays over 17%. Its no wonder Forbes recommended it. Many low income folks like the sound of a flat tax as its easy to understand. But its just a ripoff.

Heck there is also a movement on to abolish the corporate income tax (under the premise that at the end of the day, people pay all the taxes - in the way of increased prices of goods and whatnot... so why bother with a superfluous corporate tax).

If either of these ever see the light of day, I better find a new profession.

We had a "glitch" in the system here in Oklahoma. Seems when the kids bought there tickets for the OKCity concert, they were sold tickets for a different state! I wanna say Virginia. And of course it's already sold out here.

I am not sure if this is a compliment or not but both DD's have friends playing and the game of choice at this moment is Simon Says.
Your post was up when they ran thru and DD said "She's hot", and then they all had to say you're hot. So..... if being called hot by a bunch of 7 and 11 year olds is good for you- there ya go! :lmao:

Yes, I did hear that. There's supposed to be 2 or maybe 3 of the weekends dedicated to pirates. Not sure if I'll make it out though.
