Katherine is happy that so many people remembered her birthday! The cakes are wonderful -- the one I made her was yummy but didn't look as fancy as all the ones here. She was really surprised that so many people would remember her birthday. Since she turned 13 today, she actually asked me to tell all of you,

You Rock!!!

OMG,:scared1: not another Stinky Teen!!!!! :lmao:

I have never seen that one. We arrive at 11am that morning. Still haven't figured out how we'll get from LAX to DL. But it's not like I have to figure that one out by tomorrow. :)

We're in the same boat Paula. Although, we won't be arriving until the evening of the 15th.

Wow, this is really addicting:thumbsup2

And it was just last week that you were a picture posting virgin. :rotfl2: You've come a long way Laurie, keep up the good work.

This is just a drive by posting to see how you all are doing. :goodvibes

I'm at the camp in WV for a few days. DW is in NC with Mom and we'll be home on Friday for awhile.

Our cruise is only 7 weeks away :woohoo: and it looks like our granddaughter (and her parents) will join us at WDW after the cruise. :cloud9:

I hope everyone doing well. Blessings to you all. :thumbsup2

 Hi Brack. We miss you too.

Just for all of you that have been keeping track , I am at the 5 week point of no smoking   , Ive started cutting down on the meds to only once a day and now sometimes I even forget to take that ...I think I am pretty much free from the bad habit , there are times though just for a few short seconds I wish , but then the urge is gone and I am soooooo over it now ...

pirate:
:thumbsup2
Great job Todd. :cool1: It won't be long before you are thinking why you ever did it in the first place.

CLICK!

:sad2: I don't think the Pirate Life Alert works. While I was gone over the weekend the crew still managed to have a way fun scavanger hunt, a run on the pirate, and share lots of laughs. Sigh.

:rolleyes1

generic2_Birthday_lrg.gif

Now this is for all the birthdays I missed cause I was too shy to post (or too busy/lazy to look up the directions:confused3 ;) )

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: That's funny...gotta love it! I could have used something like that a time or two!

I start therapy tomorrow, and then have another appointment later in the day....so I don't know if I'll be able to pop in or not. Will ketchup eventually, I suppose.

BRACK....I was just thinking of you the other day also. Great to see you!

Paula......LAX to DL.....SuperShuttle is probably the roomiest, and least expensive. And if you want a private one...won't make any stops other than your own, and no one else to have to share it with, it's only a few extra dollars. I always do that, and also pre-reserve online. :thumbsup2

Trust me....

... it wuz not the same without ya Esteri. We miss each and every soul whos' absent on the pirate sprints, daily banter and games we play. And that includes EVERY absent SWABBIE and Wench on our crew! Especially the silent lurking ones we have yet to meet online.

So - may I offer a welcome hand as you step back aboard my-lady (followed by the sweeping flourish of a pirate tircornered hat) as I glance back at the gathered crowd of wenches and swabbies and belch out an "ARRRGH!"!

OK, enuf of that... :goodvibes

Debi...How long did Harley have to wear the Elizabethean Collar after his surgery?
The Vet said yesterday that Bo (poor fella!) should wear it for 2 weeks! That seems awfully long to me.....

Try one of these. I told my coworker about it and he's using it on his pup who was just spayed. He says it works great! And the dog is much more comfortable. http://www.bitenot.com/

In honor of TGIF and approaching pirate, I was thinking that maybe we could try a little scavenger hunt to kill the time.

This looked like so much fun! And I missed it... whine...

And now.... for my

7,000th DIS posting

which simultaneously is the ....

3,500th posting to this thread

I give you another shameless edition of ....

1) What is your SHOE SIZE? 9 1/2-10 (or a 41 in other locals)

2) What is your favorite television show or series? up until this weekend, there wasn't one. Now, it's The Next Iron Chef. What fun.

3) What is your favorite big screen MOVIE? Star Wars (watching it today, I think it's rather silly, but it is certainly the one that made the biggest impression on me.

4) What was your favorite subject and class in school/college/post grad school? Economics of any sort. Weird. Yeah.

5) Where/how did you 1st meet your SO (or last hot date?) ... I kno ... its' a potentially a loaded question. Marketing 701, we were randomly drawn to be on the same project team.

6) Have you ever broken any bones? How? Nope. Good peasant stock. (big boned)

7) Do you have a favorite flavor of ice cream (substitute any dessert if desired) Mocha Almond Fudge

OK... so who got it? In an example of most excellent timing - YOU DID!

Help...

I've

I pressed my Pirate Life Alert too, it didn't seem to work. Hope you got caught up!!

My skate group goes 10-14 miles every Friday night, then ends up at a beer & pizza place.

So, you belong to a drinking club with a skating problem??

Oh - and just to let you all know, in case no one has started it yet - today there is officially only 72 days until Christmas day! 71 if you all open them on Christmas Eve.

DS10 gave me his Xmas wish list on the way to school this morning....
A Spy Gadget
A Board Game
An iPod and a Cell Phone so that I can sell them on eBay

:headache:

Oops...I must have said it wrong. In the last couple of months, this dog has managed to....1. Mess with a poisonous toad that made him swell up and foam at the mouth
and...2. Twice now, it seems that either something bit him or he ate something (outside) that he shouldn't have, because his face, mouth and nose have swollen up, he itches, can't breathe, and throws up.

It just so happened that whatever it is that has bitten him, or whatever he has found to chew on, or inhale, that makes him swell all up and sick...he managed to do it while he had the collar thing on. We'd been checking the collar and it wasn't too tight. Even after he puffed up, it still wasn't too tight, but we took it off because he needed (badly) to itch his face. So did I help make that a little more clear? Honest, I'd hate for anyone to think that either we or the vet's office were choking the poor guy!

Probably that toad again. Or a frog - all of them are bad. Or a mushroom of some kind. One of our dogs got into some moldy cantelope that we'd thrown out - had seizures. Some molds will do that when injested. So, now that you're terrified to let your dog out of your sight?? If it's a big problem, you might think about muzzling him when he goes outside.

Doesn't look like anyone is around....guess I will just pop in/out.

Here is the headline for tomorrow AM papers:

Pirate Wench Makes Good and Takes What She Can!

I won the cake dive!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chrissie

(Hope everyone had a great weekend and have a great Monday!)

Woo-Hoo!! Way to be a wench!!

We'll be wantin' pictures...

Oh no Stacey, I would never accuse or even think that you wouldn't care for you furr baby as much as I do Harley. Speaking of Harley and eating things he shouldn't....I found a half eaten toad stool/mushroom on the back stoop earlier in the week. This was after he had thrown up and wimpered most of the day before. I immediately scoured the yard looking for more. And he's also decided to nibble on the railroad ties that we have along the fence, now when he tosses his cookies,I find bits of wood. At this rate,he'll be lucky to see 9 months.

Hum. See that muzzle trick above? You might think about it too.

Ugh. Today has been one of those days where someone says "Good morning" and I respond "That's your opinion".

You know it's a hard day when your fortune cookie says: "You will overcome a difficult situation." and it actually makes you feel better!

I've taped it to my laptop. Now there's an indication on how work is going right now... :sad2:

Had to go into the school, to see headmaster re my DS, as he has had a number of detentions, The actual position he is being set up and bullied by another boy and he keeps copping the punishment.

Hope you got it all taken care of. DS10 was being bullied a couple of years ago. Not fun!

Well, that's about all the ketchup I can get in tonight. I'm still about 10 pages behind. Oh! I'd I'd best not forget the joke either.

I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO PLAY KETCHUP.

What is your SHOE SIZE?

8 but i still try to squeeze into a 7:lmao:

2) What is your favorite television show or series?

Anthing that is a reality show.

3) What is your favorite big screen MOVIE?
Gidget(that is the part of me that never grows up) and West Side Story

4) What was your favorite subject and class in
school/college/post grad school?

Accounting

5) Where/how did you 1st meet your SO (or last hot date?) ... I kno ... its' a potentially a loaded question.
I met my DH John at a shopping mall when we were 16 years old. I was actually going steady with another guy but dumped him for my DH. Still togther and going steady for 45 years.

6) Have you ever broken any bones?

Yes, I broke a toe walking into a wooden chest my husband made for me at the end of our bed. I woke up in the middle of the night and forgot it was there.

7)
Do you have a favorite flavor of ice cream (substitute any dessert if desired)

Nothing like a good French Vanilla!!!

Ahem. Yes. Well. My source seems to be offline.

I'm googling for a tap dancing prirate and not finding much.

A-Ha! Ignore the pirate behind the curtain...

Awww. Thanks Crash.

It was meant to be funny. I saw M's post about getting a Pirate Life Alert and it struck my silly bone - so I made one. Hum, a bit too dry? Yes, that's it.

I'm glad you had an awesome time at the jazz festival. I take it the shower didn't strip paint?

We took the boys out for a special treat on Friday night - so I missed the run on the pirate. Saturday was the school Harvest Festival (very nice), and yesterday was chores. Or rather - go find a new electric blanket to replace the one that died. Well, not entirely dead, heats feet only. That little chore took a while - couldn't find what I wanted. But we've got one now. And I get to climb into a toasty bed again. :goodvibes

Well, I'm off - got to get up extra early to go to the Scaremanet Business Women's Conference tomorrow. should be interesting.

I had noticed that as well, as he says he works for the government, I presume they have called him into action, on his 007 status, and currently is deep under cover, ( maybe bed covers knowing our agents).

Actually I did see a recent post from him on the UK, dis if I can find it I will prompt him over here.

He made a post September 22nd there, maybe more, I sent him a PM to report in!

Also YES you do all scare us Brits off!!!!!!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Could it be that he met me in September????:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Laurie, I had a partial knee replacement on my left knee in March 2001, that knee has been doing well since then, it's the right knee that is giving me all the trouble now. My ortho doc said the partial replacement I had done should last 10-15 years, then I would need the total replacement. I'm not sure if we are going to try a partial replacement on the right knee, or go for the total replacement if the pain gets any worse. :confused3

I tried one of those heating bandages you were talking about, I had a bad reaction, so I'm not going to be trying them again. :sad2:

My DW had a total hip replacement when she was 49. She is doing so much better. Before her surgery, she was in so much pain she could hardly walk. I even brought a wheelchair home from work incase she needed it. The only problem she has is with some stiffness from time to time, but at least she doesn't have the severe pain any longer. :upsidedow

Andy, does the Ther-a-Gesic work at all for you????? I will be getting my supply ready for this winter!!!:goodvibes

I believe I HAVE heard some cheering...and it HELPS!!

I know I've been a bit of a whiner these past 5 weeks, and I do apoligize for that......but I can't begin to tell you how good it feels to be finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel!!

I am happy you are on the mend!!!! :woohoo:

Hey Laura I started some of my shopping 2 weeks ago. Made a little dent. i used to have all my shopping done by October too, but haven't been able to do it for several years. :goodvibes

I have been finished shopping since last March!!!:cool1: :thumbsup2

Doesn't look like anyone is around....guess I will just pop in/out.

this has nothing to do with the Cruise, Pirates or Disney but I have to share

z_moh_army.gif

Friday was shaping up to be just another day at the checkpoint.
As I was leaving for lunch I saw a man in a wheel chair at the exit waiting to be screened as I looked at him noticed the small gold medal around his neck. (See the picture above).

His name is MSgt. Alejandro R Ruiz (follow this link to see the citation)
http://www.medalofhonor.com/AlejandroRuiz.htm

I was honored to take care of this man and after I finished screening him his son said that they were running a bit behind schedule. They were on the way to a dinner in Dallas to honor Colin Powell. I pushed the wheel chair up to his gate, when we got they were already boarding the aircraft. I took the sergeant and his family down the jet way to the door of his plane. As I was going down the ramp I was asking people to move to one side I got some funny looks until a man wearing a hat that said he was a veteran of the 1st Calvary division He saw the medal and the he started moving people another veteran saw medal and he also started moving more people. At the door to the I was thanked by MSgt Ruiz son he told me that when president Truman hung the medal around his dads neck Truman said “I would do any thing for that medal” to which MSgt Ruiz replied “want to change jobs?”
As I left MSgt Ruiz I saw the first vet explaining to a couple of people what the medal was.

I was able to hold a Congressional Medal of Honor with out getting shot at or blown up most of these medals are awarded posthumously

There are only 22 living WW II recipients. It was my privilege to help this Real Hero

What an honor to meet a real hero!!!:goodvibes

Only six more days and were below 300 days left......... Only 300 long, never gonna get here days......LOL

Mark

:woohoo: :woohoo:

Angelina gave us a gift certificate to go to dinner next Wednesday evening, then we will also be celebrating our anniversary :flower3: when we are on the Sovereign of the Seas, which will be three weeks from tonight!!! :thumbsup2

Andy you and Hazel deserve a great time.

We booked our airfare today. I was kicking myself for not booking a couple weeks ago when I found a really good price from PHL to LAX. When I went to book, the price doubled!:scared1:

I just found airfare for not too much more than that good price I missed, and we're going to fly into Orange County instead. I heard that it's a much easier airport to navigate, especially with 3 kids and 10 giant suitcases.

Julie, I read your advice about transfers from SNA to DL. Thanks!! :thumbsup2 I'll probably be hitting you up to repeat your ideas when we get closer to the TOAL.

Thanks Mike, now I am jealous!!!:headache: I could not book returning flight and it has jumped over 40%.
