8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC Part 16

I was just taking the opportunity to point out how masterful DCL (or Disney in general) can be with this stuff.:rotfl:

I'm hoping for Alaska in 2010 instead (not sure if the bank book can take another expensive cruise in 2009)

I totally agree. In 2005 on the PC cruise, Tom McAlpin told me numerous reason why DCL shouldn't do Alaska or the Mediterranean. Apparently the reasons to go to the Med outweighed the reasons not to :rotfl: :rotfl:

Ever wonder if DCL (or Disney) monitors these sites for reactions to rumors and then plans on the best reactions?

I often wonder where I can apply for that job.... :lmao:

Can someone give me the story with the waitlists? How are the used? How does one get on them? And, how can you possibly wait list for a cruise that isn't even listed yet? You just wait list for, oh, a 7 day cruise sometime in August of 2009 - even though you've no idea where you'll be going??

Thanks!
Just contact your travel agent and ask, some are taking wait lists.

In the Med, Captain said Alaska was 'too cold'' and he hinted Northern Europe.
He also said about the MED, We will be back.

I think they do like to play a bit however at this stage they are likely to have firm plans for 2009 and wouldn't be able to change them, I bet they are costing them and working out prices and contacting food and shore excursion operators.

Before the Med cruises do you remember the DCL website it had a daily contest with clues where it was going, some were real many were red herrings.

I think they love to play.

I however in my opinion is narrowed now to three;-

1/ Caribbean-longer trips to the south.
2/ Northern Europe
3/ Alaska.

It was also suggested to me that I call the various ports where DCL may go. That's how people figured out the ports for the Mexican Riviera next year. :lmao:

I do know that they read the DISboard and other fan sites. Whether or not they float out rumors to see the reaction, I agree that they really can't change 2009 right now, but they could change 2010 if the reaction isn't as favorable as they wish.

Alaska in 2009 is about the only thing that might make us rethink this cruise. Two cruises in a row would be hard, and Alaska would be preferred over the PC.

On the other hand, if we do the PC then we can get the onboard booking discount for Alaska. :rotfl2: Anyway, time will tell.

You can only get on a waitlist for the suites. Some travel agents may have their own waitlists, but DCL will only waitlist the suites. To get on the waitlist you send a fax to Inventory Control for the dates you are looking for.

So, since the itineraries aren't announced, you just describe what sort of cruise you might like to do and give general timeframes?

Doing three Panama cruises two with DCL, I know I will not do another, but want something new, Alaska maybe, but I will see what actually comes out.

I went shopping the other day for our princess formal night. Here are my goodies:goodvibes

They look amazing - not sure I'll be able to compete with that!

Now you're talking my language!!!:thumbsup2

I could definitely live with that too! Alaska sounds pretty neat, but I'm not sure we could get the $$$ together just a year after TOAL - I guess we'll just have to wait & see if it is confirmed at what the $$ damage will be

Maybe, just maybe, I am 'out of line' here, but Alaska might not be a done deal, again just maybe. The guys at the Dis know a lot, But in January, I had more accurate information given to me about the Panama cruises and Mexico, whilst loads of people posted their thoughts, few got it dead right.

I like your thinking, but maybe it's just I desire a cruise with no long expensive flight! From what has been said previous I got the impression Alaska was unlikely until the new ships were out as one/both would be built to deal with the colder climate - not sure if a 3 week dry dock could get the Magic Alaska ready, but there again i could get my ship building knowledge on a postage stamp!:rotfl2:

Andrew I would also love a longer southern Caribbean DCL cruise. The 10 and 11 nights they did previously dates didn't work out for us. But I am tired of Coz, GC and KW. Would love to see some new ports.:)

Definitely already waitlisted for "any special cruise" for summer 2009. Especially if it's Alaska. My family has had the opportunity to cruise to Alaska a couple of times, but we've been holding out for DCL to take us there.

I know that at every Castaway Club party, every party we've been to for the people in suites, etc...the Captain has always taken an informal poll, to see where people would like to see DCL go in the future, and Alaska has always been toward the top.

I think they do listen to the responses, and I KNOW that they DO read these Boards. Have had a couple of Captains tell me that they do. Read the DIS, that is.

Yes this is the thing, so many times DCL or the Captain has said NO to Alaska, peole have asked for it, time and time again, on my Med cruise it was shouted out, but Cpt Tom ,said NO-TOO COLD.

Now this might have been a joke? or a tease, but something really doesnt run true with me on this, maybe I am just wrong, but I 'feel' DCL are playing with us again on what it might be.

I did an Southern Carribean cruise on Princess, in St Lucia Barbados, so good I went back for Christmas one year, St Marrten, St Thomas, Martenique and Princess cays. It was great.

Hey all, I should be leaving work in a bit. I'll ketchup later.:goodvibes

:goodvibes :goodvibes Stace, if you aren't on later--good luck at the drs. tomorrow!!!!:goodvibes :goodvibes :flower3:

Tom McAlpin was on our Med cruise and one guest asked if the new ships would be able to go to Alaska because the current ships couldn't. Tom said "They can't? That's news to me" :lmao: I also asked why the longer drydock. He said it was to take apart the stabilizers completely. I said I thought it would be a good time to enclose one of the pools. He said that was an interesting thought :rotfl:

I think they have always said the ships 'could' go to Alaska, but maybe the 'comfort' would be as good as ships designed to cruise there, such as, you mention covered pools.

Having been on other ships, one issue with the DCL ships they have less inside, less shops, no casino, Princess had a large library and games room, of course kids clubs far better on DCL.

I can't keep up with these posts, but I want to make friends. Our crew:

Me - Kathleen 45 SAHM
DH - Mark 45 patent lawyer who wants to be a pirate (just in case any other patent types out there.)

DS - William - 11. Into sports, (playing & watching), bad words (rrrgh), ipod, video games, computer games & movies.

DDD: Claire -8. Lovely girl- into Hannah Montana, High School Musical, American Girl Doll.

We lived in San Fernando Valley & Agoura for years, now we live in gorgeous Bloomington MN/.

We have almost completely paid off cruise!! I am so excited!! I can't wait for this trip & the canal.

We have been getting the wonderful newsletter...is it archived somewhere? I have a new computer and lost old emails.

We are really pretty boring...but fun too
!

Kathleen & Family....

May I add my voice in welcoming your family to our gang of pirates, swabbies and wenches (plus the young'ns). We have berths and needs a pleanty fer more hands on board! I've slowed down a bit myself - but am keeping up fer the most part (playing ketchup more than posting). The posting pace now is fairly relaxing - so it's a good time to step forwad to say hello! AND... it's a nice time to toss in a few more postings as ya get ta know a few folks more directly - or at least join in a few relaxing conversations and exchanges.

I assume you know about the friday nite chat sessions? If you can drop in around 7-8:30PM California time you should see the PEAK of the gathering. Chat is like a weeks' worth of posting in 90 minutes ... minus my images & animations. I don't show until after 8PM on account of AYSO soccer practice til 7:15PM. And chat seems to start a little after 6PM and runs sometimes as late as 11:30PM California time. Just ask SIL who complains we keep him up til 2:30AM in NY some fridays! <chuckles> HOWEVER... that said.... on CHAT ... ya gotta watch for the COLOR of the folks you are trying to address in conversation - plus you might want to select a COLOR for your screen ID so folks chatting directly with you will have an easier time of spotting your comments. If ya think the posting thread is a frenzy .... try chat! It's like a cruise meet thread on Krispy Kremes & RUM. Seriously... it's entertaining and a content rich web conversation "cocktail party" style squeezed into a short span of time.

At any rate.... welcome to the crew! Now - jump to and lets start swabbin' those decks!!!! Haul those lines!!! And start tappin' that keyboard!!!!

Celeste...

... I beg to differ... as some postage stamps take on positively ENORMOUS SIZE! Some folks have never stepped aboard a ship - and see no difference from a ships bridge versus a rope and wood plank foot bridge spanning a valley!

The ERR MAIL stamp can be viewed at Matthews Memory Lane Motors at the intersection of S.E. 26th and Holgate in Portland, Oregon.
Measuring a whopping 10 feet by 16 feet,
the WORLD'S LARGEST POSTAGE STAMP
went on display May 23, 1995 in Portland, Oregon.

The stamp is the largest stamp
ever issued --real or faux.

Created by author Alyce Cornyn-Selby, the billboard-size stamp is the largest postage on record. Cornyn-Selby is the author of nine books including the Procrastinator's Success Kit, thus the reference to "poste pone" in the stamp.
"The envelope for this stamp would have to be the size of a basketball court," says Cornyn-Selby, who has been nicknamed the High Priestess of Procrastination for her research efforts on self-defeating behaviors. Artist and author Cornyn-Selby lectures nationally and trains corporate executives and FBI agents.
