OMG I'm caught up!!! It was tough going there for a while, but I muddled through. :rolleyes1 Nice to see some old friends came back to post & some new friends joined! :thumbsup2 Love all the pictures & information everyone is sharing! Thank you!!!

Now for me, feel free to pass info on to John. Finally went to DR. yesterday and I see some $$ medical bills in my future.:sad2: I got all the bloodwork done today. Tomorrow I go for a manipulation?:confused3 We finally go on our delayed dinner cruise tomorrow night.:thumbsup2

Next Wed. I go for a back ex-ray and CT scan, Thursday for a heart ultra sound scan.

The Dr. is 99 % sure I will need surgery for a operation that I had back in 2000.

Wishing you the best Tina!

Great job Tom. :thumbsup2 What a great idea. Let us know if we can help with some of the writing.

Ditto!!! Thanks so much! It was nice to print something out for DH to read since he would never venture near the DIS boards!

What a day!!!

Is is really hot and sticky. Weatherman says 82 but feels much hotter.

Had to drive out to Queens this afternoon for a wake. One of my co-workers was killed over the weekend by a drunk driver. Very Very sad. Our entire office has been a mess all week. We found out Monday morning when we came in because one of the girls was reading the paper and saw the article. We were just in total shock. Her family called that moring as well, but we already knew at that point.
Please say a prayer for her family.

So sad! I will definitely say a prayer!

Please also pray for 2 families of 2 teenagers. These are girls that my daughter went to drama camp with (but my niece knows both of them really well). They are a bit older than Ruby- Ruby is 13 and they are 16 but they were in the same "age group" and the one girl Ruby did most of her skits with. Anyway, that girl she did most of the skits with- had just started driving (just got her license) about a week and a half before... she was driving and had a friend with her (the other girl from drama camp, also 16) and she pulled out on a dangerous country highway (lots of 18 wheelers)- she waited for one to pull by and didn't see the other one- and she pulled out- basically entering the traffic in BETWEEN two 18wheelers without realizing it- she thought she was pulling in behind one but didn't know another was right behind it. The passenger girl died instantly.... the one driving is still in the hospital. At this point she doesn't even know her friend died in the accident- she doesn't even remember the accident. She has some broken bones, head injury and some internal injuries. She will live... but she has a hard road ahead of her as far as physically- and mentally/emotionally especially after she finds out about her friend.
:(
Both families -and the girl that was driving- could sure use some prayers.

Scares me so bad.. it won't be long before my oldest will be getting a driver's license... yanno? :(

I will also send out a prayer to the families! How very scary! It will only be a few years till my DD is out there too! :sad2:

What is wrong with me?
I mean I'm usually a nightowl- but WHY is it when I have stuff planned (any vacation, cruise, etc.- including this weekend's plans of circus then camping in travel trailer for a few days then Six Flags on Monday) I end up staying up ALL NIGHT? I know I need some sleep. I have a ton of stuff to do tomorrow (uh, I mean today) and it will be a busy and probably rather sleepless weekend... yet I'm not the least bit tired. I'll be tired later when I have to run around like crazy trying to get everything done in a short amount of time!

sooo much to do today. I really could have used some sleep.

I'm the same way on vacations- I stay up all night packing and getting us and the house ready, etc. etc. etc. And I'm doing it again tonight. ugh!

I get the same way! I think it's the excitement! :yay:

We were there from Aug 5th until this morning. We came back to swim most afternoons, then went back out for dinner and evenings in the park. We did 2 of the Pirates and Princess parties, and a couple of evening EMH. I was surprised that it was still so hot & humid at midnight.

Here's a picture from the P&PP:

100_1247.jpg

We were there at the same time 8/6-8/17! They were saying on the news that Florida was experiencing record heat in the upper nineties, with a heat index into the hundreds & boy did it feel like it! We've been going during August for years, but I have never felt the heat as bad as I did on this vacation. Needless to say we spent a lot of time sitting by that scary clown pool! ;)

They are talking about it going down to the 40's here during the night! Brrrr what a difference in the temps! It's no wonder DH & I now have nasty colds.

I missed ya!

...really this isn't 'camping'. This is RV'ing or whatever you want to call it. But I'm the same way... this is as far as I want to go towards "camping". I used to love love LOVE summer camps- but I hated the nighttime and showers (because of bugs, no a/c, having to go somewhere outside at night if you needed to use the restroom, etc.) So I guess I've always been this way. I can handle all being cramped up in this trailer (or in small rooms in value resorts for that matter LOL) but I don't get into sleeping practically on the ground in a tent where there is no a/c- very hot and humid here, with the bugs, no home "amenities" like toilet, etc. I'm so not into that... at all.

Thanks for missing me BIP! :goodvibes

We used to do the camping/RV thing too & my kids absolutely loved it! I wasn't as thrilled with all the work involved & I would much rather do more trips to WDW, so we sold our last trailer a few years back. We do rent a cabin in NH once in a while. Nothing like sitting by the campfire & munching on smores! :cloud9:

My dd cleaned up the little ones room and 3 trash bags later.................
So now we can see the carpet.:thumbsup2

Glad to know I'm not the only one!

Diane,

You have indeed been "missed". <chuckles> And for what it's worth - I've been away for most of the period you've been vacationing. As such, I had terrible internet service where I was - so was unable to effectively follow any of the thread. It took me for-ever to just post a couple entries while we were out there.

Aw thanks Crash! I did read that you were in Hawaii! I can't imagine how beautiful it must be there. Sounds like you had a very peaceful time. Welcome back!

Diane I hope you enjoyed your vacation even with all the mishaps. Glad yo are back home.:)

Thanks! I'm glad to be home, but all in all I really did have a wonderful vacation. Very relaxing!

Anyway I don't usually share things like this but.... We had a little bit of a scare today. This morning we were doing some last minute things for a get together at our house and my Dad collapsed to the floor. Passed out, he is diabetic. We took him to the emergency room and after 6 hours of tests of all sorts, it seems that he took too much insulin which dropped his blood sugar dramatically. He's a little sore from the fall, but other than that okay, Thank God. He's been diabetic since 1984 and on insulin since 2000 and this is the first time something like this has happened.
Something good did come from this, he had all those tests that he had been reluctant to do before. ;)

So glad your Dad is okay, but I'm sorry you had such a scare!

Welcome Back Diane! Of course we missed you! I'm glad no one got arrested!

I thought you would be at Graceland this weekend!
Thanks!

I didn't even realize it had been thirty years since his death until I saw it on the news! I can still remember exactly the moment I got the news. I was visiting my brother & his family & it was announced on the radio. My Dsis picked me up & we listened to the radio on the way home & just sobbed. :sad1:

I can't imagine how mobbed Graceland must've been! I've never been, but one day I'll get there!

Sounds like your getting all settled in already! Hope it all feels like home sweet home to you soon!

Happy Sunday everyone!!! :hippie: :grouphug: pixiedust:
Oh I'm so glad he's okay!

My Dh swiped the Head Server's awesome pirate hat. :thumbsup2

Who is that head server? She was our head server last time but I can't remember her name!

Loving all the pictures and info about the excursions! thanks for posting those.

We made it home alive from our camping trip. :lmao:
The last day was actually painless and "problem free". And unpacking the trailer took a lot less time than packing it. Weird huh? there was less food to unpack but other than that everything came back out- so it was weird. Oh wait, Jeff didn't get out the fishing stuff, scuba stuff, etc. packed into the underneath sections. I guess that would have added some time. LOL

All in all it was WAY more expensive than we thought it would be. Vehicle SUCKED down gas, I guess from pulling the trailer and having to drive so far everytime getting a part for the trailer.. extra costs on parts, etc. It really added up! I guess we won't be doing this as often as we'd like- otherwise we couldn't be able to go on this TOAL if we did this camping stuff often! LOL

Kids had a blast and I am EXHAUSTED. I'm actually heading to bed at midnight (right after I post this) which is highly unusual for me, as you all know. But we have Six Flags all day tomorrow... wish me luck! I may have to lay down on a bench and take a nap and let the kids go ride without me. I'm totally kidding.. I don't let them a foot away from me-but I bet I'm WISHING I was taking a nap. I'll be melting from the heat- almost literally. LOL Just wish me luck... and I might have enough energy to post tomorrow night to let you know I'm still alive after tomorrow. ;)

Myself and 4 kids at Six Flags immediately after this weekend... what in the world was I thinking!

And so begins another week.............................:rolleyes1

Happy Monday All

Well it is rainy and yucky here today. Bummer. I was going to take the kids to the zoo. This is our last week before I start work and 2 weeks until they start school, so we are planning a few fun days (and more unpacking...and school shopping). Now I'm not sure what we'll do today.

Again - if ya like it - just get it. If ya don't see the need - and I seriously question the need for anything greater then 6MP in sensor size - then why get it?

It depends on what you plan to do with your photos when you are done. If you are only plan to view them electronically of print 4x6 for albums or scrapping, heck even up to 8x10, then 6mp should be just fine and dandy. I like to decorate with mine. I have several of my photos 16x20 and even 24x36 framed in my house. 6mp just wouldn't give me the quality to be able to do that. Now it's not something you need every times you take a photo, but it sure is nice to know that it's there.

Also Stace, if you don't want to venture to a new site, the folks on the Dis photo board are a pretty helpful bunch of camera nerds.

The Magic is on her way HOME to Florida. The Magic is the large red dot in the pic below.

I just found out my company won the contract to oversee the construction of 2 new sets of locks at the Panama Canal. :cool1: Do you think I can get them to pay for my cruise as a business expense?

This was in our company newsletter last week. I thought it was pretty exciting and a big win for the company.

As program manager, ***** will work with ACP to oversee construction of two sets of locks and the excavation and dredging of massive amounts of material, which will increase the canal’s capacity to handle much larger ships. The expansion will also increase the number of ships the canal can handle each day.

The seven-year project is scheduled to be completed in 2014, which marks the 100th anniversary of the Panama Canal. “The ACP said it wants the first ship to pass through the expanded canal on Aug. 15, 2014, 100 years to the day from the opening of the original canal,” Kennedy said. “That certainly sets the pace and expectations for this project.”

You could always jaunt over to the musuems....

American History and A&Space are right across from each other on the mall and would make an interesting afternoon. Or maybe spy museum.

I like to go over to the National Gallery but i'm just weird that way.

Panda bears will still be there next time.

and don't worry...VA public schools have plenty of silly holiday/in-service days in Sept/Oct too...

Hello to all those on the Disney Magic.
Is there a way to see the ship in real time on the water?
I have enjoyed watching the "red dot" but would like to
see the ship for real?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
1/2 of my family is now on the ship enjoying the Disney
vacation.

Yeah, aren't in-service days great for working parents?

The boys didn't seem too keen on going to a museum right now, no matter how cool. We'll get to all of them eventually though. We still haven't been to Mount Vernon & we walk/jog/bike/skate past there just about every day!

They are terribly excited about riding the Metro!

Take the Metro into Crystal City and wander through the underground shopping there...

Air and Space museum on mall is cool for boys (as is the Spy Museum). Even cooler, but requiring a drive is the Air/Space Museum out by Dulles (has a space shuttle).

Found this picture of a fish extender on another thread....Isn't it adorable?

Have a great time! :wizard:

Shuttle = cool. $12 parking fee is not :guilty:

Which is why we've only gone once to there.

But the Wegmans's store is just up the street.
