I missed alot of what has been going on around here. I have been reading bits and pieces and just wanted to say, I agree with you 100 %. You can never make everyone happy and I don't think J.R should try. He did most of the work on website and I can only imagine the time that wen't into it. I would follow your rules J.R.:thumbsup2
Ditto here!

Gotta bunch of ketchup here - sorry for the mega post

Esteri...

... don't harbor any regrets on the long multi-quote... it saves on the posting count and makes the thread look a little less imposing to the "newer" DIS folks lurking. I have not been as count friendly lately as I was trying to drive the count to 66,000 quick so I could be around for the sprint - seein' as my time at the keyboard was limited at that time.

Nominally, I've been trying to do more multi-quoting to conserve on the posting count - but it's sort of hit or miss with me ~ varying with how much time I have at a keyboard in a single sitting. IE - if I have enough time I'll multi-quote... and if not then I'm forced to peck away at trying to catch up.

At any rate, it really doesn't matter much in the end. The thread we've all had a hand in spawning is a charming little monster - is it not? I think it's got Todds' nose on it, Laura's sense of humor, JR's knack with web site building, Lisas' moral purity, Andys' walking stamina (see the walking strength in the image above?), and Karate skills honed from someone out of Ventura (grinns) - and maybe my eyebrows plus a little of everyone else reflected in its' tremendous love of wanderlust... among other things. Thank heavens it only has MRs' little toes and not her particular brand of "innocence"..... And MY... but those are BIG claw nails on those toes....
<chuckles>

Ok... everyone is up and milling about the room now - any minute now we're gonna step out for the Farmers' Market walk...

Right now the website has no personal info on it, just planning and such. Everyone needs to step back, enjoy the website for what it is and in a few weeks discuss who wants what information on the site and take it from there. Right now this issue has a number of people reconsidering whether they will be going on the trip, so letting it drop would be best.

JR put in a lot of work and came up with a great site. Lets enjoy it now and expand it later in ways that everyone will be satisfied with.

I will let the matter drop, but I do have one question that I am confused about....Are you saying people are thinking about not going " because" of the website and what it might or might not contain?

LOL . . well we've been doing baseball since March 1st . . .LOL I empathize with you. Enjoy every minute. They are only that age once . . . My oldest just finished his last year of 11/12 yo. He is sad, but looking forward to 13/14 yos .. .
i try to remember that...that they grow so fast! but i'm an awful sports mom!! as a kid, i was never really involved in sports, so i'm now trying to learn the rules. what makes it harder is a dd that wants to constantly be at the playground...and a 4yr old monster ds...who LOVES to climb the bleachers! it makes it a little hard to pay attention to my ds on the field...but i'm starting to be able to multi task on the field! LOL!
Crew -
Are we getting too spun up here about making rules for access to the website? As many of us have said many times - the vast majority of us are cool folks who would not abuse the relationships we've built here.

Yes, we've had a bad experience. It's been dealt with. Do we want now want to be so fearful of it happening again that we become restrictive and scare off any newcomers who didn't experience the problem? They will see us as exclusive, and not open to new people.

Remember, the purpose here is to facilitate connecting with others.

No one has said anything in particular, but I'm getting a definite feeling from the board that we're trying to cover for the 1% of the potential problems (and turning off a lot of people) rather than focusing on the 99% of the positives.

JR - as far as I'm concerned. Make up the rules for the website, and we'll abide by them. Those that are uncomfortable can choose not to list their information, or give a limited set. But, if you try to make everyone happy - it's a loosing game.

My two cents.
i agree with you!! well said!

I definitely associate HUMIDITY with Virginia! I lived in Williamsburg one year from September to May (not the summer!) and I swear it rained/misted/fogged or did something involving precipitation every single day! OK - I might be exaggerating a little, but not by much! I felt soggy all the time :umbrella: Eventually the weather drove me back home to the Midwest! :rotfl2: (Actually it was a combination of the weather and the culture difference at William & Mary - my roommate actually wouldn't be seen in public with me if I wore jeans! :confused3 ) I'm just not an "ivy league" kind of person and am not very good at conformity or sororities or any of that....

Pdarrah (Pamela)

W&M can be an odd place. Our daughter in law graduated from there and told us lots of stories.

Hey Shannon..............now that I have left NY how's the weather?:lmao:

I like staying at Pop Century and All Star Movies. I have stayed at GF once and Polynesian. I usually stay at the value resort so I can spend my money at Arribas Bros. and World of Disney!!!!!

Karen

I've never stayed at GF or Polynesian, but I hope to some day! My dream is to try AKL concierge so I can do the sunrise safari. Someday......:cloud9:

Ooooh Arribas Bros.! I can't believe how beautiful their designs are. Do you have a collection?

Yes.

They were deleted but they are on the website.

Hey Shannon..............now that I have left NY how's the weather?:lmao:

well...where to start....
my kids froze their butts off on the 4th....but last week, we were sweating like crazy! we are finally getting some rain, and as much as i hate to see it...we need it very bad!!! i'm thinking the 90 degree weather will come to us when the kids start back to school in sept....ugh!!! i want a nice summer!!!!

So you booked this cruise having never yet been on a Disney cruise? Wow, if you think you are excited about 15 nights on the ship now, wait until you have actually had a shorter cruise! Hope you have a wonderful cruise in Sept.

Yep, I booked sight unseen. I have been wanting to go on a Panama Canal cruise for years. It has always been a conflict between the M's being too young, school or work schedule. Even though I am concerned I will spontaneously combust from the heat - this one worked.
The funny thing was I had no intention on being a CC member before this cruise but I started seeing threads where people posted at 9:00am that they missed ressies of somekind. People said "you should have been up at 3:00am w/ us". That made me realize what I was up against.;)
Since my parents are going w/ us I talked my mom into going on a quick "qualifying" cruise far enough in advance to get our CC #. Then we talked my sister into coming w/ us. This will be right after she takes her oldest DD to college for the first time. She'll need to get away. She also is a very specialized Dr. and has a very stressful job she could use a break from.

Funny story. Sister calls me to chat and then says "Linda said something to me about my Disney trip". Linda is my sisters TA that we all use. Linda dropped other tickets off to my sister and mentioned the cruise I had booked w/ her for all of us. Then it occurred to me -I never told my sister where we were going - just that I planned a trip and gave her the amount of the trip.
I said "Oops, forgot to tell you I booked a DCL cruise for us". She said "works for me". I love my family!

Thanks, enough said :sad1:

Yup that's good ole NY weather for ya.:lmao: It's been hot here. The one thing DD & I noticed is the thunder storms are so much stronger here and a little bit more scarier.:scared1:
Sending you some :goodvibes :goodvibes for better summer weather.

Well pirates, nice chatting for a little while, but some housework needs to be done. :laundy: Good night all. :)

Why wait? It's called a B A B Y S I T T E R. Or if they're too old - the kid's clubs. And if they're too old for that - then they're old enough to take care of themselves for an evening. We get Fairy Godmothers to come into the room, and the older boys make dinner for everyone - which keeps them occupied.

V&A is definitely worth having an adults only evening while you're there. We do it nearly every trip. (Scored the Chef's Table this trip. It's the #1 think on DH's to-do list.)

Yep DD is 13 & doesn't need a B A B Y S I T T E R  but I just prefer to take her & DS to dinner with us while we're in WDW. Our big dinner every trip is CG right now. They love it as much as we do! I'm still not even sure DH would be thrilled with V&A since he is strictly a meat & potatoes guy.
Plus with the prices they are charging...he darn well better be thrilled or at least I can say, "Well it was our anniversary so it was worth it!" :goodvibes
