It could be worse - you could be pushing up grass.

I am feeling that way today. I had a doctor's appt. today and my doctor gave me heck over my weight (up 5 pounds since last visit). It was winter and my weight always goes up in winter. (And I cruised in December). Then she got onto me over my cholesterol, which is higher than she likes. So I am being guilted back into my diet and exercise. I am camping this weekend with the Boy Scouts, so hopefully I can do some hiking. (So I am taking the advice of many of you who have told me to "Take a Hike")

I'd argue this is nothing new, though. We had a kid expelled from our school when I was in eighth grade (1982) for calling in a bomb threat. They found what they thought was a bomb in his locker, but it turned out to be flares instead of dynamite.

I did hear about what happened at SHS and it is really sad. I heard they were going to have the police there today. My daughter's school sent a note home (she attends a private Baptist school in Schaumburg) to alert us of what happened at the public high school.

It's funny, but I've been doing the "what's this world coming to" thing a lot this week and then I read your post and for some reason it clicked with me yet again that, unfortunately, these things are not new but maybe getting much more national exposure.

Back when I was in 7th grade (1980-1981) I went to a publick juinor high school in Queens NY (JHS204). It was the end of the school year and all year long there was a lot of hate and animosity festering between the races/nationalities. There had been some altercations through out the year - fights with chains, fists, broken bottles, etc. but nothing where anyone was severly injured, and of course none of this made any of the news. So, the end of the year rolls around and during the last week of school everything came to head - there was a huge fight in school with knives and guns - the guns were never fired but the knives were used and many innocent bystanders were injured while administration locked themselves in the office and left the student body to fend for themselves. I happened to get caught up in the rush to get as far away as possible from what was going on when a girl grabbed a hold of me - she had been stabbed and was bleeding all over herself, me and the hallway. One of the teachers who was didn't hide grabbed her and got her into a classroom - I never did find out what happened to her. So when I went home I was pretty much covered in blood - I walked into our house and my mom took one look at me and I thought she was going to faint - I quickly reassured her that I wasn't injured or hurt in anyway. The next year I went back to catholic school - my parents refused to allow me to go back there. Of course, none of this was ever covered by the news, the princple and the other administrators who locked themselves in all kept their jobs and the whole thing was handled as if it never happened.

1,149 mile to Nome (for the dog, not me!)

And I can't call myself a triathlete...yet.

Well, between the two of us, you are the closest. I can't swim and the longest I have ever run was a 10K and that was three kids ago.

Happy Birthday!!!

Hey don't feel bad. I'm at work, had a wimpy frozen dinner for lunch and all I can think about is going to a local Mexican restaurant tonight! Salsa & chips are calling my name!

Mmmm - we had Mexican last Saturday. Tonight we're being good and grilling a steak on the barbie!

Yes having children can reek havoc on your figure too!:lmao:

Well, I can't blame the kids since I didn't carry them. But we do use the kids as frame of time reference. "When did we buy that TV?" "Two kids ago."
