Not to tote my town....But there's a nice planned community just south of us on 270. It's called Urbana. (Still Fredneck County though) I was reading through our paper last night for home rentals and they had two adds for BRAND NEW 4 db homes with 2 car garage for rent for $2500 range.
Urbana has brand new ES's and they score well on state tests.
Urbana is exit 26 or so on Rt 270.


You could get Clarksburg (another planned community) too for similar prices. (but Clarksburg does not has as many amenities yet) Clarksburg is Damascus schools (which are rated fairly well.) Clarksburg is exit 19 on 270 (so 19 miles out from the beltway.)

Thanks, I'll check them out. Planned community scares me... but then again, a lot of things in that area scare me.

We're still leaning more towards VA than MD simply because most of my job opportunities that aren't right in town seem to be in the Alexandria area.

I used to live in Old Towne Alexandria (okay it was 15 years ago now . . .LOL), but it was a such a fun place to live . . .Plus they have a Ben & Jerry's . . .oh how I miss great restaurants . . .

Alexandria looks wonderful, but a bit out of our price range.

Falls Church is an ok community in VA close in to DC...

I've had friends and co-workers that live there...

Older brick homes (but infill and newer townhouses too.)

If they ask call your dog a lab mix or something and tell them weight under 50lbs... (We had trouble renting houses if we said Casey was 65lbs)

Falls Church is very Metro Accessible...(So good for your DH)

We already know not to use the word "husky" to describe our dog! Most people think big, giant Siberian or Malamute (? spell). Alaskan's are much smaller. Think marathon runner. Malley won't be more than 40-ish lbs. We'll just call her a mutt. That is pretty accurate since Alaskan Husky isn't an official AKC breed.

I just wanted to tell everyone what happened with the highschool bomb threat yesterday. We made all the news stations. The lockers were checked yesterday. Three children were under arrest. Two were released and on child is still arrested. The one child had blueprints, wires, and various other things for bomb making but no expolsives were found in the locker. It is under investigation. The only thing released the boy was 16 years old. I was too worried about the Beatles in my life and if I had enough money to go to the movies. It is sure a different life now.!!!
