:wizard:HAPPY BIRTHDAY EILEEN!!!! :wizard:

Andy - loved the pics! Looks like you are having a great time!:)

How sad to take matters into your own hands. I thought that is why we teach our children to obey rules and respect authority.

I think the problem is some of the kids parents never learned this.....

Just recently my kids were participating in an afterschool basketball tournament (4th and 5th grades) that the gym teachers, on their own time, put together. My DS and a few of his friends, none of whom had played basketball before, were getting creamed by the other team (20 pts or so with 3 minutes to go). The gym teacher tells the team that's ahead that they need to pass twice before shooting and two of the parents quite loudly start discussing how "unfair" that is and that its "bulls*#@, etc. When the game was over, they told their kids how wrong the teacher was and what *#&$ it was! I give the gym teachers all the credit in the world for ignoring it, but these kids parents just don't get it. Thank god the game only had 3 minutes left or who knows what else these clueless parents would have done. BTW, my DS and friends were fine with getting creamed, they understood that they had never played before and were just there to have fun... that kid!!

Ya think?

E-mail from my kid's hockey coach about a week ago. We have a great group of parents, so it was sent as a joke:

At one point during a game, the coach called one of his 9-year-old hockey players aside and asked, "Do you understand what cooperation is? What a team is?"

The little boy nodded in the affirmative.

"Do you understand that what matters is whether we win or lose together as a team?"

The little boy nodded yes.

"So," the coach continued, "I'm sure you know, when a penalty is called, you shouldn't argue, curse, attack the referee, or call him a pecker-head. Do you understand all that?"

Again the little boy nodded.

He continued, "And when I take you out of the game so another boy gets a chance to play, it's not good sportsmanship to call your coach 'a dumb ***' is it?"

Again the little boy nodded.

"Good," said the coach. "Now, go over there and explain all that to your mother!"

Tina:

good point! The thing that got me is that it seems to start earlier in the girls (or maybe it is just my experience). Some of the girls were already there as early as Kindergarten.....the boys, we are just now having trouble with. In most cases DD got along just fine with them up to this point - it seemed to happen later and more gradually. Many of my DD's boy friends are having problems at this age - strange.:confused3

ANyway.......

hope the storms miss you!:)

Thanks, I do too!

I didn't notice it much when dd was in daycare. DD has always played with boys more. I think it's because boys aren't catty like some girls. When dd started kindergarten I really noticed it. Now in her choir, you can really see it. Maybe it's what the kids pick up from home?

We got a call from dd's best friend from daycare. Her mom said she is doing ok and making friends but she consideres dd her best friend. DD feels the same way. So we are going to get together in a couple of weeks. We haven't seen them in a while and the mom got married so it's a new school district. Maybe this could be dd's lifetime friend. The weird part is that this girls great uncle and I went to grade school together! It is a small world. The first time I saw him he recognized me and I was floored when he said who he was and what school we went to. I hadn't seen him since 6th grade!:lmao: Back in 1972! It actually made my day. I still resemble my former 6th grade self! :goodvibes

Last summer dd was in softball and some of the parents. The kids were 7-9! Some parents put too much pressure on their kids. I am keeping my fingers crossed that she doesn't get on a team this year with a really aggressive coach. They are there to have fun and learn the game. Some parents need to put a sock in it!

When you see parents like that, you know where thier kid gets in from.

Habit form 'n and to DW it seems I gotta start to explainin'
Bust it

Chorus:
You down with OMD (Yeah you know me) 3X
Who's down with OMD (Every last DISie)
You down with OMD (Yeah you know me) 3X
Who's down with OMD (All the DISies)

Totally agree with you on that. Parents can't teach the kids if they've never learned (or have chosen to be selfish pigs).

Good for your DS. Sounds like a great kid.
