Hello to everyone. I have been following this forum since it began and want to introduce ourselves.I'm Chris and my DW is Carol we booked this trip the day it opened and will also be sailing with DD Carol SL Bob and 3 GC Mike14 Matthew6 and Mikala4.The two youngest are extra-special to us and will share that story later. This is our 6th DCL cruise and can't wait. The information and chat here and at the pirate zone has been a great help for me planning this trip and want to say thanks to all who have put so much time and effort into making this happen.

:welcome: :welcome:

Meant to respond to this a long time ago but finally got around to it today :) That is one great thing about where we are... It's very remote and tons of hiking trails.

Here's a happy DD

Here's the cone shaped web and spider in it if you look on the right side

A better pic of the spider... We think he was a brown recluse but we were all chicken and wouldn't get any closer!

This one's for M&M's Mom... A UFO that we saw on the way home.

Thanks for the pics!! Your dd is a cutie!!! :)

Isnt' that hilarious???? That' show I judge it; if they are young enough they still love ya, want to do stuff with ya, and thinks you are awesome then they are "AT THE RIGHT AGE"......about two years after that they think you are stupid, have no class, and shouldn't be "acting cool"......
Well, just about every age has something nice about it:confused3 Except for the teenage years, I don't remember hearing anyone say anything good about the teenage years:lmao:

DOH!!!! take away my charge card...Although i did get a couple nice things..

Look at my "catch".
Nice Kristina:thumbsup2
I'm afraid to look at swim suits right now:worried:
Gotta get to the gym:rolleyes1

Our oldest is/was a very good athelete BUT, he didn't care for team sports. So, I put him in Tae Kwon Do when he was 13 or so. He loved it and had a good time for a couple of years!
Andrew couldn't handle the losing aspect of team sports (striking out or doing well and having his team lose would just crush him:worried: ). That's why the Tae Kwon Do was better for him. No losing, no competition except with himself, rewards at regular intervals, plus his friends signed up as well.
Around the time of his black belt test, DS and DH got a little overly optimistic and signed him up for 3 more years:eek:
Actually, both DH and I would have loved to have signed ourselves up for Tae Kwon Do, but with his bad hip and my bad neck we really couldn't risk it. My chiropractor recommended swimming, but I hate swimming laps:headache:

When our youngest was born our oldest was 21. As dh is holding our sweet baby girl he says *When she is old enough to not want to hang out with us, we will have grandchildren that will want to hang out with us.* And he was so happy! :goodvibes
I would love to have had more kids:lovestruc I was the oldest of 5 kids and just assumed I would have at least 4. Combination of the cost and the fact that DS and DD were very high maintenance kept us to 2.

Only kidding. Not a place but a state of being. Anywhere that can both blow me away and be peaceful and calm all at the same time.

Such as Grand Canyon, remote beach location, etc.
Hawaii:thumbsup2 :cloud9:

It's been a very crazy day here. I had the day off and was about to do the :laundy: when I noticed an ordor. Called the gas and electric company to check it out and we had a carbon dioxide problem. It appears that my house is to air tight when using the central air. They checked the furnace and the hot water heater they are working fine. They recommended an open window in the basement to solve the problem. What a scare.
Glad it wasn't carbon monoxide. I had heard somewhere that sealing up a house too well could be a problem:confused3 We need new windows so don't have that problem:rolleyes1
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: It worked thanks to my DS.

Woo Hoo:woohoo: Looks great:thumbsup2
My DS helps me with computer stuff too;)

I don't think that is a brown recluse. We live in TN where unfortunately they are around quite a bit. They tend to be a little smaller, more compact. They also have a distinct design on their backs and I don't see anything on that one's back. Personally, I'm proud of myself for even looking at the picture. I HATE spiders!

I am sure we can get a few friends after this TOAL to plan a girls getaway sometime. I used to do this all the time with friends. Once a year the girls would go away for a weekend. After the kids came along it got put on the back burner for awhile but we are again starting to plan now that the kids can take care of themselves a little better and the hubbies don't have to deal with toddlers any longer

I would LOVE to see D&M too I remember watching their show every week
Yup, I need a girls getaway:thumbsup2
Hard to arrange that with my friends and family though:confused3

I have a question about tiaras... Are most of you wearing real or play ones? I have three beautiful ones, but I'm afraid to travel with them because I don't want to lose them. Also, one is missing a stone. Any idea where you can buy those kinds of crystals? It is a colorful one.

I may just buy a good one that I don't have any sentimental attachment to for this kind of thing down the road!
I bought a $5 one off ebay, but we will probably bring my DD's real one as well:thumbsup2

D & M will be at the Flamingo in LV Sept 9 through Oct 1st (a total of 17 shows). :goodvibes It's a shame y'all don't know if you're going to like me or not! LOL! We could make plans NOW! LOL!

We like you:hug: I just won't have any vacation time left at work after this TOAL. It will take me a while to build it back up:worried:

Have only been to Las Vegas once for my DBiL wedding back in 1997 and I was pregnant with DD at the time. I would love to go back:woohoo:

Ah yes- the notorious flying arrow UFO. Appears as a giant black flying arrow typically pointing at a "weather balloon". After digging through hundreds of thousands of declassified documents made available through the freedom of information act, we now know that the giant black arrow is, in fact, a fusion powered hyperspace transport from Omicron Theta 5. Typically they do little more than scare local hunters and cause them to shoot other hunters in the face (note recent incident relating to our Vice President).

The white puff next to the transport ship is, in fact, a weather baloon.

Thanks :) I forgot to mention the hat is from Tokyo Disneyland and has room for the baby's ears :lmao:

Yeah I think our pictures don't actually show the back real well. We attempted to compare it to pics online and some looked similar in body type and some didn't. Like I said we didn't get close enough to see the violin :scared1: :scared1:

It has real Swarovski crystals. As far as "real" or "play" ones, I think you'll see both.
About replacing a missing stone...do you have any "Bead Shops" in your area? They should have a variety of crystals, pearls, whatever you might need and could most likely be able to replace it for less than $5.00.

Thanks! That's the kind I was looking at as well. I think I may use it as an excuse to add to my little collection...

Welcome!

We're from CT. I can see Long Island from our neighborhood (that's me waving!).

Looking forward to hearing about your GCs. I always love a good "kid story".

My DS Andrew is also 14.

We're on the south shore Bluepoint and i'm sure Mike will meet Andrew. On past cruises he has made alot of friends

I would take sunny and very cold any day over gray, gray and more gray. I just can't stand it anymore this year. I didn't realize that you still got some daylight. I could handle that. When we were in Alaska last summer on our cruise, we stopped in Skagway and went up into the Yukon. It was so beautiful. The glaciers were amazing and everything is so pretty. We had a warm, sunny, day and loved it!
So it is agreed, Grand Cayman in the winter and Alaska the rest of the year. I guess that means we will be homeschooling our kids? Sounds doable...:cool1:

My DMIL lived in Kodiak,AL just before WWII. She was in the Red Cross and Kevin's grandpa was a Civil Engineer. She left there when the war broke out and went to Europe. She shot her first Kodiak Bear there.

Pamela, quick question....do you click the Box in the lower Right corner before saving the image? And when I do try to "Save the Picture" it still goes straight to my Photobucket account. :confused3

Try just right-clicking on the link right on the DIS thread. There should be something like "Save Target As" which will then bring up a normal Save box where you can choose where you want to put it and/or rename it.

I bought mine on eBay - I spent a little more than I was planning. I think it was $25.

We have them here too. Mom has a friend that just went to the hospital last week after being bitten. They also call them "Fiddle Backs" here because of the destinctive "fiddle" shape on the back of it's head.

We're on the south shore Bluepoint and i'm sure Mike will meet Andrew. On past cruises he has made alot of friends

A bit of a distance from my old stomping grounds;)
It will be Andrew's first time in the stack and he is so looking forward to it.
This is our first time on the Magic. Our first 2 cruises were on the Wonder. Is this your first long cruise ?

1) What's the FIRST thing that comes to mind that you're looking forward to about our cruise?

15 whole days on the Magic! We were on board when DCL announced the itinerary and that was what took us to the reservation desk :thumbsup2

2) What is your FAVORITE kind of DESSERT which you hope to get on the cruise?

I find most of the desserts disappointing (same is true for WDW - Disney seems to have trouble with desserts) but I do love Palo Chocolate Souffle & Panna Cotta (Together! They compliment each other :lmao: )

3) What are your favorite hobbies (or substitute interests - if any)

Reading, DISing, photography, planning vacations

4) Do you have a favorite music - bands - performers - or such?

I enjoy many types of music from classical to folk to rock to easy listening. Not much into jazz, blues or rap.

5) Right or left handed? OR.. are we ambidexterous?

I write with my right, but I eat and do a lot of other things with my left. (I had a golf injury in high school and my right arm was in a cast or brace for 2 or 3 years)

6) Pose a QUESTION for the NEXT person to respond to this....Have you ever been to Disneyland before? If yes, how many times?

7A)Which port are you looking forward to the most?

Cartegena

7B)Favorite Character:

Cheshire Cat (or Alice or Mad Hatter)

7C) How many days will you be gone from your home for this trip?

17 days

7D) Knowing you only can choose ONE answer, which time do you look forward to on a vacation the most? Time with all the family, time with just your spouse, time alone, or time with others you meet on the trip?:

I don't really know - I'm looking forward to all of those. One of the great things is that in 15 days I should be able to do all that.

7E) Favorite Disney Resort?

Beach Club - don't get to stay there often since I can't bear to pay full price. 2nd favorite is Wilderness Lodge. (I'm usually too cheap and end up at Port Orleans or Pop!)

7F)How long have you been planning this TOAL?

Since our 7 day Western in January 2007 when we first found out about it!

7G) Planning on going to Pub Night ?

Yes

7H) Favorite Cruise Director?

I don't think I have one - I've never really gotten to know any of them.

7I)How many days of school are your kids missing for this trip?

5 days

8)Favorite Disney attraction (from any park)? We just rode Toy Story Mania at DL and it was amazing!!

Splash Mountain at WDW (but I am also very fond of Carousel of Progress!)

Pamela

Well - I am retired - I retired early in order to help DD care for DGS Matt. But, I AM writing a novel!! And I think all the time about what creative ways I'll spend my time now that my "nanny" duties for Matt are at an end.
Getting older doesn't mean dreams are over!!!!

That's great Chris. I wish I had the time and the motivation to write. I really like to write, I just do so much of it for work that I don't do it for fun as often as I would like.

DOH!!!! take away my charge card...Although i did get a couple nice things..

Look at my "catch".

3 new swimsuits?? Yikes. Do I need to come up there?
Seriously, everything looks very nice.

 What's with PBR? That "cake" must have belonged to this guy who made a PBR coffin:eek: :

beerx-large.jpg

Cool! I need to tell DH to commission a giant Sam Adams bottle to stuff me into before he buries me at sea. M in a Bottle!

Yes...I'm quoting myself.....but I find it hysterical that there's a Christmas tree in the background and Mrs. Redneck Claus is kicking back with a cig right next to the tree like it's the coolest thing in the world that there's a PBR coffin in her living room.

Is that a jackalope on the wall????

Just for fun!

7A)Which port are you looking forward to the most?
Cartegena

7B)Favorite Character: Tink and Sorcerer Mickey

7C) How many days will you be gone from your home for this trip? 18 days

7D) Knowing you only can choose ONE answer, which time do you look forward to on a vacation the most? Time with all the family, time with just your spouse, time alone, or time with others you meet on the trip?:

I'm wishy-washy, can't pick one!

7E) Favorite Disney Resort? We've stayed at CBR the most and really like it - we have a Mod budget. I would LOVE to stay at WL. I'm excited about AKL in Sept. & I celebrating my 40th b-day (in 5 years!) at GF. Long term goal is to stay in all of them at least once. We don't really collect pins, but DH gets a pin from every resort we stay in.

7F)How long have you been planning this TOAL? I think my first post on the original thread was 1/17/07 - so since about then..

7G) Planning on going to Pub Night ? yup

7H) Favorite Cruise Director? Only been on 2 cruises, can't remember who we had on Wonder & Brent on Magic. Don't really have a favorite.

7I)How many days of school are your kids missing for this trip?
Our plane lands 7 hours before school starts!

7J) Favorite Disney attraction (from any park)? We just rode Toy Story Mania at DL and it was amazing!![/QUOTE]
Too hard to pick. I guess our family favorite is Splash Mountain.

We'll make sure that y'alls youngest meets our youngest.... I'll get Claire to tell her how much FUN the kids club is and maybe Claire can convince her to stay. ;) On the last cruise one of the other Disers realized that the thier dd paged them to get her everytime our dd left the Club! :rotfl2: I told the they should have told me when they wanted her to stay in the club and I would have arranged it! :rotfl:
With Claire you either love her or are a little overwelmed by her!!! :lmao: She is BUSY!!!!

Sounds like my DS8 Nate and Claire are either going to fall in love and live happily ever after or be so much alike they won't be able to be in the same room together! :rotfl2:

I think it's so cool that you Moms get to "Escape"! Last October , some of the ladies that I worked with at the Disney Store were planning a Girls Gone Wild Weekend at WDW.(Actually, it was a Middle-Aged Women Gone Slightly Crazy Weekend) They invited DW along, and I had to actually talk her into going without us. She had a blast and was really glad that she went. Some "alone" time is a great thing!

That's great! I love my family, but one of my best weeks ever was a week at WDW with my 3 best friends from high school (all Disney nuts as well). I was a SAHM at the time and DSs were 1 and almost 3. I really enjoyed the break. We keep talking about doing it again!

WOO HOO!! The DD's are out shopping with a good friend of ours who has some fashion sense! We gave them each 125.00 to spend. The friend is great at finding bargains, so we'll see what they come back with!

I hope they find something great!

Oh, that reminds me - I have a formal dress that I'm willing to send to anyone who wants it if you are willing to pay postage. I bought it on sale big time a few years ago and never wore it. At some point I realized it was an awful color on me. It is lilac/light purple 2-piece with a straight floor length skirt and the top is halter style with a sparkley floral pattern (also lilac) and corset lacing back. Size (don't yell at me!) 3/4. PM me if you are interested, I can measure it and take pictures.

Yikes! I guess on some level I should be thankful for the winter breeze that blows through my living room.

UPDATED IMAGE FOR MICKEY MOUSE CLUB LOGO

OK - Found out that PhotoBucket "shrinks" the resolution when you post images there :( Since we need a high-resolution image so we can print it as large as needed, I have uploaded it to my business website. I KNOW its not going to get messed with there!

The link is: http://www.bwdarrah.com/dcl/images/mickeymouseclub.jpg

You can either click and view it and then right-click and pick "Save Picture As" OR just right-click the link above and select "Save Target As". These instructions are for Internet Explorer on a PC, but I assume other browsers and Macs are somewhat similar.

This version is 1992 x 1973 pixels.

Pamela

FYI if anyone else has a giant image, I can dump it into my photobucket pro account.

No more maple creme brulee?????? Hmmm I may have to cancel our upcoming reservation!!! I'm shocked.

I think I have the recipe. Do you have a brulee torch??
Is anyone else now worried about a creme brulee shortage onboard??

I would take sunny and very cold any day over gray, gray and more gray. I just can't stand it anymore this year. I didn't realize that you still got some daylight. I could handle that. We had a warm, sunny, day and loved it!
So it is agreed, Grand Cayman in the winter and Alaska the rest of the year. I guess that means we will be homeschooling our kids? Sounds doable...:cool1:

Naaah, just bring along some homeschool moms to set up shop! They can teach, I can cook for all of us. It takes a village to escape from reality!

Jump on in and join the fun!

Have only been to Las Vegas once for my DBiL wedding back in 1997 and I was pregnant with DD at the time. I would love to go back:woohoo:

Was it summer? I was in Vegas, pregnant in June 1998.
DH ran something called the Mojave Death Race.

I've also been to New Orleans and Key West pregnant! Life is not fair.

ATTENTION

Dolphin Swim in Cabo

They just opened up some 8:45 am to 10:45 am slots , I was able to change mine from the 12:30 pm slot ...

Looks like I will be spending a good portion of the day at Cabo Wabo :cool1: :cool1:

pirate:

... but I do love Palo Chocolate Souffle & Panna Cotta (Together! They compliment each other :lmao: )

We always order a suffle for each of us and a panna caotta to share!

Cool! I need to tell DH to commission a giant Sam Adams bottle to stuff me into before he buries me at sea. M in a Bottle!

Ya know...you're not supposed to throw bottles overboard.:stir:
