Based on your dining rotation, you will be given an invitation for breakfast with the characters.

A traditional character meal like you find at Disneyland or WDW would have the characters visit each and every table so that the kids (of any age) could get autographs and pictures. DCL used to do it this way. Then it was changed to just a show in the middle of the dining room with some of the characters. They'd do a few dances with the kids but did not visit all the tables. In my opinion, this made the breakfast not worth going. Per the post today, DCL went back to the traditional way of doing things, probably after many complaints.

Hope we get up early enough to go and hopefully DD won't be scared of em...

Hey Terri,
Didn't you need to ship formula to CA - if so, my DD Lori has offered that you can send it to her and we'll bring it to the ship since she is here in LA. Pm me if you do.

Great minds. I was thinking I could drive it down for her too. But it will be easier for the locals to help out.

Thanks for the offers. Hopefully we can have the medical supply company ship directly to the ship and not have to worry about it. DCL special services and the supply company are supposed to be working on it... I'll let you know if we need a backup plan!

I wouldn't get my hopes up for a traditional character breakfast. I read the later posts on that thread and this week's cruise is the only one so far that has had it changed. The repo and the May 25 cruise had the show style. Not sure why they changed it this week, unless maybe that cruise is really empty and they figured they could do it in the normal alotted time.

I hope not. I think I'll write back to DCL to see what they say.

Yes, this is the form you want to use for anything like this. Additionally, with food allergies, I would make sure you touch base with your head server (make him earn his tip) and server on the first night.

We always talk to the head server and the servers. We want to make sure to send it in early, and we have a few questions for them. I know the pizza crusts and buns at the parks have gone to whole grain, which is a problem. I'm guessing the ones on the shiip will be too. We're curious if they'll have any alternatives, or else you'll see us schlepping buns onboard.::yes::

I got tuxedo rentals ordered for the boys and myself. I was worried about the sizing for my large one, but they called to clarify, and it sounds like we should be good to go. We'll be packing some safety ppins and duct tape too, just in case.

Since our flight was just recently changed (maybe about 2 weeks ago?) we thought the Disney Transfers made sense. Since this happened long after we were PIF, I'm not sure if we can still remove the transfers...

We cancelled our Disney transfers in LA (but not Florida) after we were paid in full. They said they would refund the amount to our credit card.

Ok, I think Im better about the excurison being canceled.

Becuase of an unrelated event, I bought a few pins (who would have ever guessed by my screen name) and I ended up getting the Prototype of the Eastbound Logo pin from 2005! It has the original edition size of 1000 before they increased it upto 2600 pins.

Buying something fun always makes me feel better! LOL! :thumbsup2

I have a habit of falling alseep @ night while reading. If they could make it indestructable so that when it hits the ground after falling out of my hands.......

Andy

:rotfl: I hate waking up when the book hits the floor! LOL!

We are starting DD on August 1st..she wanted to wait until after Labor Day but then was bummed this year when all of her friends were done with school at Memorial Day and she still has next week. The school we go thru is having me count some of her cruise as field trips so she gets credit for some of that as well.

In TX we don't go through any school to homeschool...each homeschool is considered its own private school. We don't report to anyone. As long as the work is done...and done well..... I'm happy!!! :thumbsup2

Me either, usually after I finish reading a book you can never tell that it's been read. DH is the same way. DD11 on the other hand..OMG..what she does to a book!!!

Paperback books are falling apart when dh & 28ds are finished reading them !

I always "dog ear" the pages. :confused3 Even when I see something I like in a catalog.

 I use post it notes to mark my pages in catalogs and books.....

You may be able to buy a tux cheaper for the boys..... tux4boys.com

I just got booted out of chat!!! Says "Cannot find site"!!

Hey Mike,
DD Lori is allergic to dairy and on our last cruise - they prepared special food for her - including breads & pancakes and she met w/head server every day to plan her meals. It was wonderful. She could eat w/out worry!!

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Wow, no posts for over half an hour, and on a Friday night too.

Nite all.

Andy

PS when will DIS get its clock fixed

Hi everyone!

Well..dinner ran longer then we thought and I went to chat but no chatters! Oh well. There's always next week!

Tomorrow is recycle day! DD has collected about 50 bags of cans to turn in to count towards a program we have out here calls Cans for Critters at the San Diego Zoo. It's a Scout thing..so that should take up most of our morning. Then a birthday party and a fun evening out with some fellow pirates!

Have a great Saturday!

I have a question that I know DS would be mortified if he knew I was asking.

But.....

I was reading through the Best Tips thread and one person mentioned bed liners in case the little ones have accidents. Well, my not so little one still has accidents due to the medication he's taking and the fact that he is such a sound sleeper.

Is there such thing as bed liners that DCL will provide?? I've never heard it mentioned before and only 1 person in 30 pages of tips said anything about it.

Monica, I see it was answered already. I was going to suggest buying a vinyl mattress protector if they don't supply them. My DGD still at age 11 has issues. I know we can still fit her in one of the brands. And as you said, there is always depends. They tried everything with her including muscle relaxants as she holds it way too long and doesn't release til she is asleep and relaxed.

I just posted this on the planning forums, but figured I'd copy it here for those who don't always remember to check over there....

Hi Fellow Pirates!

I just went back through this thread and have a list of Pirates who are interested in the Pirate Brunch on the 24th. Since the "hassle free" booking was anything but hassle free - did anyone else manage to get a ressie for this? If you didn't get a ressie, do you plan to try once we are onboard or are you going to skip it? If you have a ressie or plan to try and get one, do you prefer to eat with just your own party or would you be willing to share a table with other Pirates (It may be easier for Palo to seat us all together if we are willing to share tables...)?

If some Pirates plan to try and book when we board, I will post a sign-up list on my cabin door (6076) where you can add your name if you get a ressie. I'll take that list to Palo the next day to see about getting us all seated together. Don't worry about which time slot - just get a ressie for the 24th! Palo Brunch has usually taken 1.5 to 2 hours for DH & I to finish in the past, so we will all have plenty of time to socialize.

This is the list I have as of June 6th. If you would like to be added (or removed) just let me know!

funny, I thought I was on that list???

Does anyone know if this is the same form you would use to let DCL know about food allergies?

I agree Debi. i think I'll just buy stock in Hawaiin Tropic or Coppertone.

Here's a thought, if they offer Palo brunch on Canal Day, somebody might be able to snag the private room for brunch that day.

Would be nice but I think Chris already answered it . Yes the form is for the allergies as well. They need it 14 days before the cruise.

So far, Disney has *NOT* released any information as to what pins will be on our cruise.

Keep an eye out on odpt.com (Offical Disney Pin Trading) under new releases and keep an eye out there for the offical announcement from Disney.

If you see the announcement, please come back and post the link:thumbsup2

I always take sewing kits as well. You never know!!!!!!!

Don't know what I am doing up so late. Will feel it tomorrow.

Debi, Cheryl watches the trailers and sometimes the movies. What a job.

Just popping in to say hi - bummed I missed chat now 2 weeks in a row. Tonight was Fondue (Matterhorn in SF) for a friends 40th. (hey there is that number again) Hope everyone has a great weekend. 70 days from now I will be getting settled into the Carousel Inn in Anaheim! :)

You may be able to buy a tux cheaper for the boys..... tux4boys.com

Thats where I bought my sons tux for last years cruise. I was very happy with them and it was much cheaper to buy than rent..plus it will still fit him for this years cruise so even better deal.

I hope not. I think I'll write back to DCL to see what they say.

Dear Christopher,

Thank you for contacting Disney Cruise Line. We are sensitive to your concerns, however, we realize you are with Tom, Mike and Roger, therefore, please stop contacting us.

We hope this information has been helpful to you. Have a Magical Day!

Todd, the total number of people is 4 ? Now which tastings ? Beer, wine, martini, tequila or rum or Lush (all 5) ?

Take a look at this handy little tool - I am still unsure about it as I love to have books but we are out of room and my boxes of books are now in our attic

Very cool:cool1: I will wait till it goes down in price though. I'm with Steph though--I also love the way books feel:lovestruc

This is very sad - I never heard of dry drowning

Very scary:worried:

I know what you mean - that is why I am struggling with it but I thought it would be a great option for traveling since I don't have to pack a bunch of books and with all the new weight and luggage restriction this is a perfect solution for those of us that bring more then 1 or 2 books along
I'm hoping the book swap will help with the luggage issue, but you are right this gadget is perfect for travel:thumbsup2

With the change in age groupings, how many parents are considering having their kids "play up" in the next higher age group.

Also, has anyone heard if DCL continues this practice givenm the new groupings?

I guess I should move the 2 ten year olds who have 11 birthday on cruise up to the next bracket?

Thoughts?

Thank you so much for looking into this! I was worrying that they might refuse to take ANY of the luggage if you had more than 1 per person. I have an email from AirTran that says we do not have to pay for the 2nd bag (since we purchased our tickets in January) but I assume we'll have to have that discussion at the airport with an agent there. Right now, I am hoping we will only have 4 checked bags for the 3 of us (I may be crazy - but I THINK it is do-able!) so we will only have 1 to cart around.
Pamela
Pamela, I bought our AirTran tickets in January also, but through Travelocity. Was there a certain date in January that determined the 2nd bag charge ? Not sure if I can avoid the 2nd bag charge or not. I'll try to email them to see if they will give me the same confirmation.

:rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

Actually, the Kindle's screen isn't an LCD - it is "digital paper" (which I first saw many years ago at Innoventions when it was totally experimental). It "flips" pixels between white and black and then they stay that way until "flipped" again - this means that it stays at the last page you were reading until you change it. It is off most of the time and only turns on for a moment when updating to a new page which should give it very good battery life. It is supposed to be very similar to reading text on paper (not as hard on the eyes as LCD screens). There are a lot of plusses, but the cost and proprietary formats hold me back from trying it.

Pamela
Sounds so cool:thumbsup2 Usually if you wait on the new gadgets they come down in price and fix the problems. Hope that happens with these:woohoo:

   I NEVER do things like that!!! Is it a *guy* thing??? Dh & oldest ds both do things like this!!! I like to keep my books looking brand new. Like it's a contest or something....
Definitely a guy thing::yes:: I learned in high school not to loan my notebook to a guy:headache: Came back a mess and he had no clue why I was annoyed.

Because of an unrelated event, I bought a few pins (who would have ever guessed by my screen name) and I ended up getting the Prototype of the Eastbound Logo pin from 2005! It has the original edition size of 1000 before they increased it upto 2600 pins.

:lmao: I hadn't thought of that.:thumbsup2

I think my question got lost. Has anyone seen a link to view what the pins look like for the repo?
Good thing you asked again:thumbsup2 Questions are definitely getting lost in the pile as people are having to skip pages in order to keep up. I didn't know the answer either;)

Thanks Jo:thumbsup2
I'm gonna have to make sure I set aside enough money for pins:rolleyes1

Debi, Cheryl watches the trailers and sometimes the movies. What a job.

I knew it had soemthing to do with either the beginning or the end of hte movies! LOL! I have a terrible memory! ;)

Thats where I bought my sons tux for last years cruise. I was very happy with them and it was much cheaper to buy than rent..plus it will still fit him for this years cruise so even better deal.

I've 10ds his tux there.... I need him to try it on to see if I need to buy a bigger size.... Unfortunately he is *in between* sizes. 10'a are too small and 12's are to large......

Also, has anyone heard if DCL continues this practice givenm the new groupings?

Since 10ds won't be 11 until Feb I don't think DCL would let me move him up.... I'm hoping he enjoys the kids he is meeting on the boards and that they hang out in the Lab together.

I'm glad it's not just my *guys*! ;)

ANd I love DCL pins, too!!!!
