I just had a call from DCL also....no more Banana Boat Rides. Darn, and I thought it was my UPGRADE call. ;)

The best we can figure is that it's due to the rise in gas prices. :confused3

Saw this on the main board. I know some here are booked already:

No More Banana Boat Rides in CC

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just got a call from Disney Cruise Lines and was told the Banana Boat Ride we reserve just last Sunday night for the EB Repo is no longer. They have discontinued that excursion.

Not sure what happened in the past 6 days for that to occur.

Kinda bummed since DS is now 8 and can go on it.

I don't know what to be more annoyed about - that they aren't having the boat rides or that they didn't consider me important enough to call to let me know (we have it booked as well) :confused3

I was just getting on to post that the banana boat rides at Castaway Cay have been cancelled, but see I was beat to it. When I saw the caller ID I was hoping it was offering me an upgrade. The lady on the line was very nice but didn't offer me an upgrade just wanted to inform me that the banana boats had been cancelled. I wonder if there was some kind of problem?:confused3 Guess I will never know the joy of being thrown off a banana boat  and will have to settle for a dancing bananna. Oh well $30 more for drinks on the ship.

This is the exact reason. The tour operator just told Disney that effective 5/28 they would no longer be doing this excursion.

So it looks like the tour operator pulled out.

Just popped in to wish everyone a great Memorial Day weekend. Guests are arriving in about half an hour and will probably stay pretty late so I will most likey be back in the morning.

Sorry about the banana boat rides..we didn't book it (DD wasn't to sure about it) but I am sad that people's plans got derailed.

Have a great weekend!

BUT....they may be able to find someone else to operate them. They have all summer. Seems odd that they would cancel excursions booked for the tail end of August.:confused3

We still have some old blue laws on the books here in NY - can't by alcohol on Sundays before 12 noon.

Here it's noon as well. The law used to be none on Sundays and poll days but now I think it's none before noon on both days. They changed the law at the same time as they got rid of the drive up liquor windows....

This is just a public service announcement for anyone who might be flying back via Southwest on the 1st. Since we only booked two weeks ago, I was still working on flights. Southwest is the only one that offers me a direct flight after 8 am. The price over the past two weeks kept going up from Orlando and tonight I was just going to book at the highest rate (I thought because it was Labor Day) and the flight went down nearly $50 per person. So, you may want to check if any of the other Orlando flights went down for that day!

Congrats and thanks for the heads up. I just posted about this yesterday too. Ours went down $41 per person for Sept 3 flights home. Others have checked and theirs have gone up, but that's what happened with ours too, so keep checking.

Ours went UP $20 pp each way on Friday. I'm still hoping for a Ding though!

Now we had our flights on SW go the other way! We booked last Thursday night for Sept 1 from MCO to Seattle. It's flight changing planes in
Albequerque (sp). We paid 135.00 each, I just checked today and it's up to 260.00 per person! :scared1: I was amazed!

Is it a non-stop to Abq? We may be on the same flight...

Wow, that is a great price for AA. We paid $200 back when the first came out for a non-stop. The cheapest I see on their site today is $265 and ours is $370 :scared1: + baggage fees. I agree with Tom and don't advise AA. We would have done SW except we have school starting the next day and want to get home as fast as we can.

It's unfortunate, really... We actually flew AA quite often! Though our favorite is Qantas!

Maybe they did it now so you could still book something else instead of waiting till 30days out or something.

When we went on our qualifying cruise there was no parasailing but they found an operator at the last minute and we got to do it after all. Maybe that will happen this time too.

She did say that I could go online and book something else if I wanted to. We'll just chill with our Konk Koolers.

Roger, maybe you could help us out with this issue -- those of us planning the pirate buses want to make a liquor stop between DL and San Pedro -- but there will be three buses, likely carrying 50-60 people each (yes!) . . . so can you think of three places on the larger size (with plenty of registers) on the way so that we do not clog up one place and delay our arrival to the port?

Thanks so much . . .

We are also looking for a place to buy laundry detergent and water.

Thanks

Just flyin' by with a quick hello....down to the wire on the wedding plans.....and LOVED seeing "our" ship come in this morning.
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: That may be the ONLY time my ship comes in!!!
Well have fun but I will miss you lots! I think you're the only one that notices my posts on here- without you I'm ignored! :confused3 So hurry back 'k? LOL

What a bummer.
and no one called me!
We only have my daughter booked on the teen banana boat- but we were thinking of booking the banana boat for DH and son because now he's saying he wants to do it. I've done it once and not thrilled with it anyway plus our youngest.. we'll she'd be barely turned 8 at the time so I think she can do it officially if that's the age but she's a little 8 and I doubt she could hold on well! so I'd sit it out with her.. but now it's cancelled. Weird. can't they just get someone else to do it? they have months before our cruise! and they didn't call us to tell us it's cancelled. I should go look online and see if it's still on there.
I wonder why the tour operator decided not to do this anymore?

If you guys are interested, I found travel packs (1 load each) of Tide at Wal-Mart yesterday with the travel stuff. Actually it was nowhere near the personal care products or the laundry stuff...

Happy Memorial Day Weekend Everyone!
I'm getting ready to take a trip down to the Finger Lakes Wineries this afternoon. If I could carry a case of wine on the plane I would. That would save you all a trip to the liquor stores. I already have my transfers included in the cruise so I'll just be taking the Disney shuttle from the Disneyland Hotel to the Disney Cruise Ship. Let's all keep it in the Disney Family. I'll just be wearing the same formal dresses I wear on all the other cruises so no shopping for me. I was hoping this cruise would not be so formal. I do have a couple of Mickey dresses and skirts I've bought at the Disney stores that I plan to bring along for other nights. Oh by the way the Disney store in my local mall is closing. No more local Disney fix! Dresses are cooler than pants. I vote for white t sh***. The only thing black I plan to wear is a formal dress and its sleeveless. Looks like it's going to be one hot cruise. Still no room, just guaranty 5.

:cheer2: WELCOME ABOARD :cheer2:

I'm travelling with my DH, DS13, DD12 and we're in CAT8GTY. Anyone travelling with you?

We are booked for that beach excursion in Cabo, but I'm second guessing my choice... I'm not sure I want to spend 4 hours there if you can't really go in the water since it is so rough. It is kind of pricey to just use the pool...

I love that!! I like the pink ribbon, too. It adds some color to it.
I have a TON of brown all of a sudden. I guess it's true "Brown is the new black".

Can you all tell I'm finally all ready with my plans and getting excited???
I'm at the point where I really only need to sit back and wait for the wedding. Barring any unforeseen complications, that is.

I've gotten so I really like brown alot now too! Have several pieces, that and teal.
