I saw something similar on the Disney Channel this morning...

Her name is Deanna, it rhymes with banana!

There's a song that will stick in your head - tune in to Shana's Show on the Disney Channel - UGH! Now I'll be singing that all day!

:rotfl:

And my name works well for the name game song.

What time are you getting into San Pedro?? :confused3 Looks like I might get to make the dinner with all of you!!:woohoo:

Yay! Is Roger swinging by. I thought that was so sweet he offered.
We get in at 2:50 on Sat and are going straight to the hotel. We are getting quite the group for dinner! :woohoo:

Well.....I am Old Mother Hubbard right now. My cupboards are bare. Must go get groceries. Have a great afternoon everyone!

These are the best words I have ever read to live your life by!! I know its long but very interesting and true!!

For over 7 years, Regina Brett was a columnist at The Beacon Journal in Akron , Ohio. During that time, she was diagnosed and successfully treated for breast cancer. Regina is now a columnist for The Plain Dealer in Cleveland , Ohio.
Lessons in Life By Regina Brett To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most requested column I've ever written. My odometer rolls over to 50 this week, so here's an update:

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.
8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.
16. Life is too short for long pity parties. Get busy living, or get busy dying.
17. You can get through anything if you stay put in today.
18. A writer writes. If you want to be a writer, write.
19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don' t take no for an answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy . Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now.[B} Don't wait for old age to wear purple[/B].
24. The most important organ is the brain.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: "In five years, will this matter?"
27. Always choose life.
28. Forgive everyone, everything.
29. What other people think of you is none of your business.
30. Time heals almost everything. Give time, time.
31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
32. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.
33. Believe in miracles.
34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.
35. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
36. Growing old beats the alternative - dying young.
37. Your children get only one childhood. Make it memorable.
38. Read the Psalms. They cover every human emotion.
39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.
41. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
42. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
43. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
44. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
45. The best is yet to come.
46. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
47. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
48. If you don't ask, you don't get.
49. Yield. (but not to Disney)
50. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.

With these "second bag fees" (and first bag fees) I wonder what happens when you are the 12th passenger on the plane and there is no overhead bin space left so you have to "gate check" a bag, do they assess a fee then?

Probably.
Here in Dallas there is a councilman who wants to enact a policy that is basically when you call for an ambulance you have to give them your credit card. :scared1:

Tom- Thanks for the bag info. I am apparantly good for this trip but will seriously be looking for any future trips on other airlines.

Wow Laura had another very exhausting excursion again.:headache: :headache: Go read her blog!!:thumbsup2

Went to Sweet Tomatoes!!! :worship: It is Strawberry Month. I had yummy strawberry salad, lime chicken soup, strawberry mousse, strawberry muffins, and strawberry - apple cobbler and a few hundred other things!!:cloud9:

We don't have one of those around here, but I checked out the menu. Looks yummy! :thumbsup2

Here are a couple pictures from my remodeling. It seems to me to be going slow, but I guess it is because we have had so much rain. Painting on the rest of the exterior should be starting by Friday.

Hmmmm well I was thinking, "Gee looks fine to me, wonder why they're renovating". Then I saw the after pictures, "Wow looks very nice & modern!" :cool1:

Did you ever have those days were everything goes RIGHT? Yesterday was one of those days for me...

We fired up the pool pump last weekend and was not working properly. Now, DH's only job with the pool is to get that pump going and I do the rest for the entire summer. To say we were having some heated discussions (he was being a typical guy - ya know, like a man asking for directions), about him refusing to call a professional to ask for opinions, is an understatement. Well, he finally asked and figured it out yesterday. Plenty of time for me to clean it up and heat it for the summer-like weather that is coming in this holiday weekend.

Had a teacher meeting - DD got a less than stellar progress report. They send these out in between the closing of the marks. Well, turned out to be no big deal. She had missed a couple of assignments from an absence and just being lazy. That, I can handle/fix. Then, more importantly (I know, priorities), I had not mentioned anything about the cruise yet. She will miss the first three days of school. She is in "Looping" and will have all the same teachers next year. Even though I know they are pretty cool teachers, I was still a little nervous about bringing it up. Well, NO PROBLEM. Her Social Studies teacher will give an assignment related to Panama Canal (which will be fun stuff - he gives weekend homework like hug a tree and stuff like that), and the report we are going to do over the summer and cruise on the PC will be perfect. She will present it to the class when she returns. Whew - one more thing out of the way for the cruise.

Then off to my first follow up with the Onc. Dr since treatments completed. I have been officially been declared.......CANCER FREE!!!:woohoo: Got an appt for my 6 month follow up.

It has been quite a winter and I want to say Thank you :thanks: to all my DIS freinds who have offered up such wonderful support through postings, PM's, cards, a little surpise gifts. It is appreciated more than I can ever express :grouphug: :grouphug:

The "Neighborhood Ladies" are taking me out to a local pub Friday night to celebrate. Since I have a designated driver I think I may just have a drink...or two :drinking1 :drinking1 :faint:

Glad you'll have your pool open soon! I hear a rum punch calling my name! :rolleyes1 ;)

Glad your DD is all set with school! One less thing to stress over! :thumbsup2

But best of all....words can NOT express how gloriously happy I am for you!!!   You deserve those drinks!!!

Shucks ... looks like I just missed another Pirate Sprint!

Hi all--

Finally paid up and confirmed on the cruise! Hope to meet many of you on this 15-day aquatic extravaganza!

I like the sound of that...

Aquatic Extravaganza!

Let the show begin....!

I agree- it sounded like to me they didn't like them telling anyone how they were compensated- which I could understand... not wanting other people to try to get the same kind of compensation by complaining. But either way they didn't help themselves- it comes across as trying to "quiet" any complaints and keep ppl from knowing about any issues previous cruisers have had and whoever banned them really isn't that bright. I mean they already knew these people were big mouths telling everyone their bad experiences and how much compensated/etc. they should have THOUGHT about how big this would be when they banned them! Now looky- even people like myself who never saw the complaints now knows all about how they complained and now are banned. Yanno? banning the complainers only got them more noticed- and negatively for RCCL in my opinion.

Edited in... I would agree mostly. Well... mostly I agree with you after you said Yanno? above.... < muffled chuckles... >

LOL! I do have a name! I notice everyone else has username and then real name + famly and such.. I'm bibbidybobbidyboo and (bip) on the list- you guys do know I'm not going to be responding to people calling me bip- right? LOL! ... or maybe you don't know my real name?
My name is Shelley- nice to meet you. hehe

Does anyone have information about hotel discounts in San Pedro on Saturday 8/16?

There are not too many options IN San Pedro ... I have not commented much on this - except to say - my favorite hotel source has been HOTWIRE. They currently have a 4 star hotel at LAX for $83 ($100 with fees and taxes) and a 3 star for $112 ($132 with fees and taxes) in San Pedro.

I might suggest you consider ANY hotel between LAX to San Pedro as valid. Taking a cab or better yet a super shuttle from LAX to the port would be simple on a sunday morning. No major traffic should strike.

I don't know if this is news that can be used - but this is often how I book hotels - and I used to travel about 50% of the year for near 15 years. Nearly all the time I paid for the travel as I'm self employed - so it varied from tolerable dumps for the nite to nicer digs when I ran interviews and meetings in the hotel. All the time I was mildly interested in a better rate when I had time to shop it. And hotwire was not always around long ago - so the simple discounts were AAA, Costco discounts and sometimes Entertainment Card rates (they were the best) when available.

OK... I gotta run now. We have a Doctors appointment to check hearing and vision for one daugter - then I gotta prep a picnic for my daughters plus a girlfriend of thiers who we're taking to a matinee of Pince Caspian today. Plus I gotta order some landscaping materials to get trucked out to the house. So - I'll be behind another 300 postings by midnite I'm sure. Do try to live up to these expectations folks - 300 or more postings from this point to midnite or the floggins will resume!

I just plain don't like shopping! I really hate swimsuit shopping (thankfully, I don't need to do that this year - I have enough to get me through) and fancy dress shopping isn't much fun either. I did bite the bullet yesterday and went out looking at dressy stuff. I found a dress for the Grown-up Princess night - very "princessy" - but I feel very odd in it (its much softer and feminine than I usually wear and much lower cut than I usually wear) My mom talked me into buying it and DH seemed to think it looked OK when I tried it on last night. Cheryl would be proud of me - it's original price was $202 and I bought it for $50!
Pamela

I hate to shop too. I did manage to get a new swimsuit (on sale) and when I played hooky on Monday found a dress for Princess night - dusty pink and satiny with a full skirt and a crinkled jacket. It said marked down to $42 but when I checked out it was only $29. But now I have to find shoes, because all my dress shoes are black.:confused3

DH is willing to drive me anywhere in the metroplex for a *meet up*! ;) I try not to drive out of Tarrant County! :)

And you are right we are on opposite ends -- far North & South! :rotfl:

I've invited BIP before........

I can take a hint! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hey, I will be in DFW in June. Still willing to meet up, but I'm dependant on others for transportation.

OK- Listen up folks- American airlines has decided as of June 15th to charge for the FIRST bag checked :scared1:
Does not say if they are grandfathering exisitng tickets yet. They better! :headache:

Thank goodness we get back on June 11th.:headache: I am not sure who Disney will book us with for the cruise, but there is no way we can travel with just carry on for a 15 day trip. Right now we plan on 3 suitcases and 2 carry ons (laptop bag and backpack). What next?

I wondered what was going on when I logged back in after my meeting. Looks like I missed another pirate: run. All caught up and back to work. Bye.
