I can't imagine anyone being more grossed out than I am, so I would guess we are equally repelled . . . I'm actually really shocked, too! How are parents letting this happen???????

Does anyone have information about hotel discounts in San Pedro on Saturday 8/16?

I haven't heard of any but several people are staying there and could tell you how they got the best rate they could . . .

I am 1/2 Mexican, so my kids are 1/4 Hispanic as well. I have always identified myself as Hispanic on those surveys, so I figure my kids are too, right? I just never know what to check. I need the "mutt" catagory.

How about an "All American Melting Pot" category? Sounds better than "mutt" (for my beloved dog Linus I prefer "mixed breed" anyway and I always point out to my girls that we are all mixed breeds too) . . .

I have a similar problem. Every where I go to shop, people think I'm working at the store & ask me questions. Must be because I don't wear a coat in the winter. You know I answer all their questions !

Finally re-registered and added the Moms to the list of excursions.

(To make things even funnier, SWMBO is 1/2 Puerto Rican, so my kids are 1/4 Hispanic and technically a minority, so we often will mark the 'Hispanic' checkbox just to mess up the surveys. I can't wait until my blue-eyed, blonde son applies for a minority scholarship in college).

One of the colleges Tyreak is interested in has a link to a ton of scholarships for Hispanic students on their web page. I had no idea there were so many out there.

We can't apply for any of them.

I'm suprised that out of all the stuff we're doing that was the only one that missed during hte *transfer*! LOL!

Stace, I think it is that you guys have been on the Mexican Riviera before and are picking more unusual things while most of us are first timers and are picking more "touristy" things . . .

(Although I did get that rumor passed on to me that all of you do in fact have the plague . . . but I have denied it strongly to everyone who asked . . .)

Went to Sweet Tomatoes!!! It is Strawberry Month. I had yummy strawberry salad, lime chicken soup, strawberry mousse, strawberry muffins, and strawberry - apple cobbler and a few hundred other things!!

My whip has spikes at the end of it!!

Let's see - I am Greek & German - my children's father is Irish - so my kids say they are "mutts" - my grandchildren are of even more mixed nationalities - truly "mutts." Okay - Julie - "mixed breeds" - but "mutt" sounds cute!!!
Gee - Mom's favorite term for me while I was growing up was "her little mule" - and both my children and grandchildren inherited that gene from me!! We define stubborn!

wish I could help, but we are staying on points my DH earned from business trips. So, we didn't look into other hotels or discounts.

I have the opposite problem. I apparently 'look' Hispanic (even though I am not). I once had a lady come up to me in the LA airport and start asking me questions in Spanish. I had a gate agent in Miami speak to me in Spanish. I went into a grocery store with a fellow Scout leader in Woodstock and the lady behind the counter spoke to me in Spanish and him in perfect English! I don't speak a word of Spanish.

That is 17dd. SHe has dark hair and light olive skin (like her daddy) and people asume she speaks Spanish! LOL!

When we were in Cancun for her sister's wedding this past Oct..... At dinner the first night there were about 15 of us at the table....waiter speaks in English to everyone while taking their orders....gets to 17dd and starts speaking Spanish!
Next day....17dd, 24dd (fair/blond), my mom (fair/blond) and myself are in the Salon getting manicures/pedicures/hair done.... the girl doing 17dd's nails asks her where she's from and then starts speaking Spanish! DD says she doesn't undestand Spanish.....then the girl asks her who is getting married dd says *My sister* the girl doing her nails acted confused... She talks to the other employees in Spanish and they all look at 17dd & her sister (back and forth).

DH and I think it is funny that he and I are both dark haired (I'm very fair and he is olive skined) but, 3 of our 5 children are fair/blond (dh's brother is fair/blond & so are all 3 of my siblings). Only 1 of the children has the darker skin tone.
