wow it is quite here today... I am almost talking to myself. I should really do some work since I am at work, but I had 2 really rough days (Friday and Monday) and need a kick in the butt now. I have so much to do, but my guys are traveling so I think I can slack a little and now you are all quite. :confused3

Ms. M, are you SURE this is what you want?

8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC #8

Welcome! This is the latest incarnation for the Captain Jack's Repossession Repositioning Cruise to Port Canaveral thru The Panama Canal. This thread is largely impossible to keep up with, even for the most active poster. However, its a lot of fun with a great group of people, so jump in and say hi, even if you can't sit here reading 24/7.

In order to keep all of the relevant information in some sort of order, we have a Website that has a lot of good information on ports, packing, etc. There is a really good "virtual cruise" that takes you day by day through the cruise, a must see and guaranteed to get you even more excited for the cruise. While you are there, sign up for our mailing list using the webmaster link on the main page.

Most important information posted on this thread is cut/paste by the good people here and placed on our planning boards. This is also the place to go to sign up for any of the events you are interested, ask questions where you don't have to search through 1,000 posts to find the answer, etc.

So fasten your seat belt, keep your hands and head inside the car at all times and have fun.....

Pre Cruise Events

Official T-Shirts – Details click here
(Task Force Leader esteri)

We are putting together T-Shirts with the thread logo on the front and back, details and prices to be available shortly. The suggestion is to wear black for embarkation and white through the Panama Canal.

Pirates Wristbands – Mail order in May or June
Ordering details mid-May. Click for more info.

Post card surprise mailing from DL before cruise
(TASK FORCE LEADER NEEDED Note, have had volunteers for this, but not a lot of interest, should we scrap it?)
Wouldn’t it be great to have your loving kids, spouse, friend, etc. receive a post card mailed from Disneyland in the weeks before the cruise?

Mini Pirate Cruise Journals Task Force PM sk8ingmom to participate
We are taking a group approach to creating journals for the kids. There will be a double page spread for each day with a few activities (word search, solve a puzzle, find the answer to a question type of thing) related to where we were that day (examples from prior cruises: look for 6-toed cats in Key West, learn a few Spanish words in Costa Maya, etc.). On sea days, there will be some on-board things to do (how many steps is our room from the kids club, go down the Mickey slide at least 5x, how fast is the ship going right now). Creating the pages requires a little bit of kid-level research about each of the ports and and some creatve brain time making up activities. If we have enough interested parents, each person could volunteer to 'research' a port and come up with a few kid-level facts, questions, activities. Sk8ingmom would be happy to create the page layouts and .pdfs for people to download and print pre-cruise. Any takers? More details on Planning Boards

Quick Hello, hope everyones recovered from last night,

Welcome anyone new,

Sorry for anyone who was disappointed,

Well....

... now that the storm has passed... it's probably for me to vent now. I'm bummed I didn't get the 15 Palo Brunches and 15 Palo dinners I wanted for my group! Nor did I get the 24 slots on those 6 shore excursions for our little group either!

DOUBLE DRAT!

Saturday August 16, Disneyland

Disneyland DIS meet in the days prior to the cruise
(Task Force Leader DisneyPilots – PM to participate)

Meet and greet fellow Pirates at Disneyland in the days leading up to the cruise. Have a chance to begin connecting names, faces and DIS id’s before we embark on our journey.

Disneyland Fantasmic DIS meet (Task Force Leaders Bellelinus and got2travel )
Meet and greet fellow Pirates at Disneyland for Fantasmic! A few of the Pirates will be saving seats for the whole gang, sign up on the Planning Boards. The Fantasmic show at DL is different that WDW in that it is not in a stadium but the area surrounding the Rivers of America in Frontierland and New Orleans Square. The show is better since they use the actual ships that sail around the river.

Port Area Dinner Meet
For those who will be staying in the San Pedro area on August 16, a group of Pirates will be heading to an area restaurant for dinner and socializing. Visit the Planning Boards and say “hi” if you want to join us.

Port Area Tall Ships Display
For those who will be staying in the San Pedro area on August 16, the tall ships will be visiting the port area. Roger (Goofyonthehiseas) posted some details on the Planning Boards if you want to know more.

Sunday August 17

Charter bus/busses to pick up DISers from DL area hotels to take us to the port – PM SmeeCanada if interested
(Task Force Leaders - Grandma x3, Bellelinus, smeecanada)

This one is self-explanatory. Why worry about DCL transfers, taxis, limos, etc. We are looking to have a few stops at the Ho-Jo’s and Disneyland hotels to carry interested Pirates to the port. A brief stop at a grocery/liquor store is also being considered.

Meet and Greet at the Terminal
This one is self-explanatory. Once you have checked in, can see (and for some of us taste) the Disney Magic, look for the gang in their embarkation day T-Shirts (most in black). We will be grabbing some space in the terminal to shake hands, hug, laugh and say "Great to have a face to go with the DIS id, we can deal with names later!"

Meet and Greet during sail away
This one is self-explanatory. After you have grabbed something to eat, dumped the day bags at the room and are ready to hit the decks, look for the Pirate gang hanging out on Deck 10 by the ….. well, not sure where yet, but we will discuss the location and take lots of pictures of each other and the Sail Away Party!

DOUBLE DRAT!

Now do not be greedy!

He'd be welcome . . . as long as he doesn't tinkle over the side!

He could go back to his friends and talk about going to Mass and confession on a cruise ship. Not something most of his classmates will have done in their young years, that's for sure.

If my kids go to Mass and confession on the cruise, does that absolve them of missing the first week of school? :confused3

If we volunteer Little Enna Jr. to do a reading a Mass, do you think the principal (SSJ) would accept that for an excused absence?

Sea Day Events – Date to be determined

Shots Around the Ship (Task Force Chair eeyorelvr10)
Join Laura as the Pirates enjoy Shots Around The Ship (SATS).

Secret Mickey – Throughout the Cruise – PM eeyorelvr10 to participate(Task Force Leaders pbader and eeyorelvr10)
Couples, individuals and children can participate in a “Secret Mickey” gift exchange over the course of the trip. Each participant will give and get several small gifts (about 5 gifts, total $25-30). Near the end of the trip (last sea day), there will be a get together for all the Secret Mickey’s to reveal their identities.

Hawaiian Shirt Contest – Sea Day Activity (second or third sea day) Another one with not a lot of interest, What say ye?(Task Force Leader – Sarangel - PM to participate)
Gather with the Pirates and show off you craziest shirts and our panel of wenches, swabbies and pirates will select the best shirt. Winner will be awarded a Hawaiian shirt custom made by Sarangel (fine print: Winner to provide material and buttons.)

Grown Up Princesses – Sea Day Activity – PM got2travel or pdarrah for details
(Task Force Leaders got2travel and pdarrah)

Bring your tiara and gloves, on one of the formal or semi-formal nights, our lovely princesses will come to dinner in full regalia. If you would like to participate, pm Monica (got2travel) or Pamela (pdarrah) and they will keep you up to date on this fairy tale come true. Planning Board Discussion/Poll on what day to do this.

POTC Characters for Pirate Night – Pirate Night
(Group Activity – PM DisneyVegas1 for costuming advice)

Pirate night is fun, but with the Capt. Jack crew on board it will be spectacular! Imagine all of our Pirates dressed as the characters from POTC along with the DCL crew! Bring your cameras!

Wine & cheese social – Sea Day Activity
(TASK FORCE LEADERS JUST OBTAINED, ASSISTANTS NEEDED!!)

Get together with the Pirates for some wine and cheese during one of the restful sea days.

Scrapbook swap- Sea Day Activity
(TASK FORCE LEADERS NEEDED - In all the frivolity of the last few days, I saw a bunch of volunteers for this, but didn't note them, can you wonderful volunteers PM me? Thanks.)

Scrappers alert! Come and share with fellow scrap booking Pirates

Wench's tea - Sea Day Activity – Limited seating PM Grandma x3 for info and availability.
(Task Force Leader Grandma x3)

Join the ladies in Palo for a sophisticated Pirate tea.

Wench's brunch- Sea Day Activity – Limited seating PM Grandma x3 for info and availability.
(Task Force Leader Grandma x3)

Join the ladies in Palo for a sophisticated Pirate brunch.

Beer/Wine/Tequila/Martini Tastings (as a group) – e-mail to participate
(Task Force Leaders got2travel and MrsScooby)

Have you ever wanted to learn the difference between Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc? Have you wondered whether the rule really is white with fish, red with beef? Does the term “shaken not stirred” mean anything to you other than James Bond ? Are you just as confused as I am.....Barley, Hops, Pilsner, Lager, Stout..... what does it all mean? “Lick, Slam, Suck” - no it's not x-rated but do you know what it means? Come join us for group tastings. We are working on arranging private tastings during our sea days. At this time we do not have specific details, but we are looking for a show of interest. We are requesting Wine, Beer, Tequila, Rum and Martini tastings. No, we will not be tasting all those at the same time. There will be separate sessions planned for each. And for those of you (like me ) who want to attend them all, they will be scheduled at different times. (And hopefully different days!) These will be exactly like the tastings that DCL regularly schedules, but will be limited to those folks in our group. Each tasting will cost $12-15 per person (subject to DCL's current rates).

Pre Cruise Events

Post card surprise mailing from DL before cruise
(TASK FORCE LEADER NEEDED Note, have had volunteers for this, but not a lot of interest, should we scrap it?)
Wouldn’t it be great to have your loving kids, spouse, friend, etc. receive a post card mailed from Disneyland in the weeks before the cruise?

Just a thought.... recently I was going to mail Disneyland brochures and schedules to DIS neighbors who had accepted my offer - and I was going to mail them from the park to gain a Disneyland postmark. HOWEVER, on asking park employees about this they told me they no longer had a post office inside the park. And all mail deposited inside the park is now postmarked without a Disneyland postmark.

I wonder if maybe the folks who told me this were wrong?

I took French from the 9th grade all the way through college, and almost all I remember is how to call someone nasty names. :rotfl:

At least I remember to ask directions to the rest room, so together we should be good if we're ever lost in Paris together.

Hey everyone.....Laura just texted me from the Magic and wanted me to pass on this info...

Clayton..aka Hollywood ....will not be on the EBPC in August. He is starting his new job as Cruise Director on the Wonder this week.

I will be on the Wonder this Thursday so I will tell him that he will be missed by ya'll!!

Pam

DARN IT!!!! We love HOLLYWOOOOOOOOD. :rotfl:

I completely forgot. I did find that store but didn't pick up anything because I couldn't remember which flag you wanted.

I've got to go back into the city before the cruise to pick up Johanna's wine. I'll have to swing over to the wharf and get the flag.

I honestly hadn't thought about it again either. And besides, I couldn't remember what it had said. Please don't make a special trip, but if you do get one, I'll pay you for it of course. :thumbsup2

Hi Gang,

Just a reminder that I still have lots of maps - so if anyone wants any just send a PM w/your name & address and I'll send them to you.

Sorry maybe i worded it wrong... I've accepted that the suites get preferential stuff (as concierge)

but i have a problem with how as a society we have this "pay for better treatment" mentality being applied to services that everyone should have equal access to.

Yes the rich are getting richer but those of us in the lower income levels are pretty stagnant if not loosing salary every year.

Our department is not getting any raises this year...yet our health insurance and dental is going up... I can't do without that.. Now i have to do with less.

(disgruntled government employee)

I agree. While I think early booking is a nice perk of a suite ...and actually on DCL, suite guests have very few perks compared to other cruise lines...but I wouldn't book a suite just for that perk nor would I book REAS for that reason. We've gotten a suite for the space, nothing else.
Jared and I are in a Cat 5 for the June cruise....we don't need all that space.

Anyway....I think DCL should do what a lot of cruise lines do, let people book excursions when they are paid in full. And Norwegian lets you book excursions as soon as they release them for your particular cruise.

Naked Rugby?!

cute_animal.jpg

Yeup. It'll be an eye popping event. ;)

Where can I book that excursion?:rotfl2:

I'm pretty sure you can book this in Cartagena. There are age-old fornications around every corner.

Blast! Beat me to it! :rotfl:

She was (and IS) a pistol. She was being naughty at age 3, and stuck her tongue out at me. I told her she had better not do that, and she said "I wasn't sticking my tongue out at you, I was just tasting the air" !!!
Far more clever than I.

:rotfl2:

OK, another clever kid story...
We were in Yosemite this weekend for my uncle's wedding. On our way to our 6 mile pre-wedding forced march (to tire out the boys) we hear the following: DS11 is putting on his hiking boots, taking a long time, and talking about how compressed his feet are. DS6 pipes in with my feet are compressed too, and it didn't take me that long. DS11: You don't even know what "compressed" means. DS6: Squished.

Every adult in the car (DH, my brother, and myself) burst out laughing. DS11 starts to sputter and launches into a lecture on compressed air. To which my brother comments "Give it up. He's got you."

BRAG ALERT!

DS9 is FAST. Like scary fast.

The-Incredibles---Dash-Poster-C10201031.jpeg

This adds a whole new dimension to the bacon scramble/scrum....

He's fast, and little enough to get under the elbows. Oh, yeah, it does.

Oh M??!! Do you rent him out??

Of course it is, "hassle free." Disney was kind enough not to charge us any extra for the hassle.

:lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: That one needed a coffee warning!

Morning All,
I am speaking in front of the board tonight. Not prepared one bit.:rolleyes1

You'll be needing a pair of these??

CONCLUSION
Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

No niin, siiten nyt ma puhun vain Suomeksi. Ehka se apu?

Current pricing 2a/2c (8 & 9), no insurance, air, or transfers:

Category 05 $ 14,415.16
Category 08 $ 12,555.16
Category 09 $ 11,655.16

As frustrating as yesterday was, can you imagine paying $11-14K and discovering after you've made your payment that you can't book any Palo and most of the good excursions??

Oh, and I'm up to a $5,000 savings on my cruise!

Well, I feel a whole lot better about my fare now...

I was reading about that on cruise critic yesterday. They are in uproar over there. :sad2:

I'll bet. You know, you'd think RCCL would have played this one smarter. On the other hand, these folks probably are better off with another line.

------------ T-**** Stuff -----------------

do you need 11 more people or 11 more shirts sold? because we're gonna have atleast 5, possibly 10..... if I can talk myself into wearing those dang nabbit black shirts. *sigh*
(and if we can afford all the shirts!)
I just couldn't figure out how to order in the pre-sale... and I'm a bit confused about what sizes to get for us and the kids too. sowwy... but I will be ordering and I don't think you need to worry about not reaching that 301 mark- that's for sure! I bet it goes way over that!

11 more items. As I said - I'm not too worried. We'll cross 301. I called the printer with the preliminary numbers and his response was "Wow! That's great!" I'll be bundling up orders and sending them off to him as we go - that way he's not getting slammed with 300+ items in 3-weeks. We'll get better quality, and service that way.

Okay, I am really behind by quite a bit. Drive by posting. Is anyone else having trouble with the t-shirt ordering. I had preordered, but I am trying to get the actual order through, but it will not list anything. Will have to try to ketchup later.
Thanks

It doesn't list anything becasue it's not fully configured yet, so I have all the items offline. I'm at about 85% now. Just need to get 1 1/2 more items in, double check the shipping, figure out how to add 3% only to PayPal orders (as the PayPal "sales tax" function is broken  ), and PM a few mates to place an order just to see that everything's working. I think we'll be open for business Wednesday evening - Thursday at the lastest.

Don't worry there will be a LARGE announcement at the time. ;)

Not open yet to order.... ummmm ... technical issues... ummmm... see, we didn't want to repeat Sunday nights experience for T-shirts....

(ok, Esteri allowed her life to come ahead of all of us, she's entitled, plus, there was a WDW trip in there:thumbsup2 )

But it will be up and running later this week.

Yeah, I forgot to allow for the wedding when I made up the schedule. Besides, how many times to I get to see my dad marry his brother. (Uh, perform the marriage service that is.) It was on Sentinel Beach in Yosemite, the falls (in full spring melt) in the background, unseasonably warm, and every family member (expect one of the bride's nieces who was in the middle of finals) in attendance - through three generations. It was a lovely wedding.
.

I agree on both points I booked a Cat 3 for 2009 for the space, I would have prefered to book at 105 days for this one though, but in 09 it will not matter with just two ports Tortola and St Thomas, where I might go it alone.

DD will be 13 in 2009 so would like her own space.

I also agree they should allow bookings when you are paid in full, but they should give a discount for early PIF's for loss of interest.
