Good evening...

Hope everyone had a great day. Spent my day running errands. Finally managed to sew on my DD badges on her GS vest tonight. She has an award ceremony on Thursday night. She is receiving her Bronze Award. So we are very excited for her. To add stress to the evening, , I am the Chair for the troops in our area so I have a lot to do for Thursday night. Hopefully it will go well as I want to honor all the girls in our area who have done so well this year.

Stopped by Baskin Robins afterwards...$1.00 scoop night! Dessert before dinner! :woohoo:

Looky Looky what I got in my email.

Well I tried cooking and lets just say the results were mixed.
On Sunday I prepped for an hour, cooked the stuff and then had to clean up. Can I say I have better things to do w/ 2 hours of my time.
It started w/ cooking pasta and then DIS'ing. After about 10 mins I hear a weird noise- oh yeah I forgot the pasta.
Food was OK but we could not eat the very bottom of the pan- cause it was burned to a crisp.
Today at lunch I decide to put some chicken breasts in the oven so I can make chicken spaghetti tonight. Yep, forgot them, again. When I checked a couple hours later M's kids could have used them for hockey pucks. There goes $7.00 worth of chicken. Waited til I got off and put another packet of breasts to cook. This time it was not too bad and everyone ate a whopping half plate. :sad2:
Bill used to cook because he knows I hate it and am not that great at it either but he had enough of that nonsense too.
My poor kids. If it were not for Bill's Mom they would have no clue what "real" food is.

Well I'm off to the seamstress tomorrow. I have 2 dresses that need some "help". Since my intentions of losing any weight went down the tubes  I hope they can do something with this one to make it larger.

Then I also have a similar, maroon, strapless number that needs hemming and a little taking in.

How embarrassing is it that DD has made it through the entire year and I have not sewed one thing on her vest. I think I am going to glue them on right before she bridges and be done w/ it.
I am obviously not very domestic.

Just because we seem to have an expert and a been there done that for everything...I have a Disney Visa question...

How does transfering the balance from Disney Visa to another card effect the 0% interest on the cruise balance?

For instance and for the sake of round numbers -

I have $5,000 in a 0% interest pocket until Sept. (cruise PIF)
I'm about to Visa roughly $100,000 for summer day care (OK not really, but it seems like it!)

Since Disney is my highest interest card, I want to transfer the day care balance to another card while I wait for my Dep Savings Account reimbursement checks to roll in. {Side note: sucks I have to pay for summer camp all at once in May, but can only get my money back that I put into the stupid account one month at a time}

So if I transfer the $100K :) interest-bearing balance to another card, does my $5K 0% still stay there?

I know this is how it works if you make a regular payment - just not sure about balance transfer.

Arlene? Anyone else?

OMG!!!! you have me sooo confused!!! I just have two accounts on Disney Visa going at one time.:thumbsup2

DOLLAR TREE PIRATE SUNSCREEN ALERT!

I just ran in to the Dollar Tree closest to my house and they had the No-Ad POC 30 spray on sunscreen stuff.

I bring this up because I know some people couldn't find it before & they didn't have it at this particular dollar store a few weeks ago when we were all looking for it. Maybe different stores are getting it in this wave.

Yeah, I bought more.

Still none in Illinois but I will go look again M!!!!:goodvibes

Hadn't a clue. I seldom look for those numbers.

Ya know, you *could* just skip posting an image. I know that goes against e grain, but it might be nice to make a change.

I usually journal during the trip on the computer and then refine it for a trip report.

Congrats on 3000......I am catching up to you very soon!!:woohoo:

We got Mickey Mail!!!

Was it worth the wait!!!:rolleyes1 :lmao:

I actually though about looking into buying a franchise with my forced change of career. But there's already one in my town. I guess I could lookin into setting up one a few towns over. Maybe I ought to buy a few weeks worth of dinners first to determine if it's even something I could invest in.

Oh Chris :rolleyes1 how about this along with our other potential ventures???

How is job hunting going???:confused3 I am really hoping your luck is changing!!!

Hope everyone has a terrific Tuesday!

So...just to start a topic of conversation...what are everyone's plans for Mother's Day this weekend?

I am going to my DD house for a barbecue!!!:thumbsup2 As long as I con't have to cook................all is good in the world.:worship: :worship:

I can't help you with your question, but what we do (so as to not confuse myself with the 0% interest for Disney vacations) is have 2 Disney Visa accounts. One is in my husband's name with me as an authorized user. The other account is in my name. We use his account for everyday stuff and mine strictly for Disney vacations. That way it keeps the two separate and just makes life easier for me! ;)

We do the same thing. We should have around $1300 in Disney Rewards come cruise-time, also enough to pay tips for our family of 6 with a little left over! Plus, I think we have $400 in obc from our TA. :cool1:

Kim

We have two Disny accounts too!!!:thumbsup2 Makes things so much easier!!;)

I had a really good time today, although I am exhausted tonight! There was about a 90 minute bus ride to and from Stamford, CT, a program on a beautiful 3 masted schooner for three hours while sailing in Long Island Sound, lunch, and then another program on the beach involving tagging live wild horseshoe crabs so that their movements can be studied (apparently one they tagged last summer traveled all the way up and over Long Island and ended up in New York Harbor). We also collected samples of plankton and looked at them under microscopes.

I took lots of pictures, especially of my daughter (although I don't know when I will find the time to load them to the computer!) and the weather was beautiful . . . the time on the schooner was really relaxing.

You can see the schooner and read about some of their programs here:

What a fun day Julie!! :cloud9: Nice way to relieve stress before the 19th.:lmao:

Well I do not feel as bad now. DS has gone all year with out any patches either for Cub scouts - He crosses over this month to WEBLOs so I will put these patches on the new shirt. Heck he only wore this shirt for a few times....

Only off the boards for a little while and hundreds of posts behind !

At least this time around I might be on long enough for a certain kind of run.:rolleyes1

Jennifer, your cat reminds me of our Reebok. She was also a black and white tuxedo. That's great that she is doing so well with renal failure. Our neighbors have offered to loan us their kids to play with our cats while we are gone. We'll also get a pet sitter to make daily visits as well.

I was ready to put her to sleep when we first found out, but the vet talked me out of it. It was a hard choice because she acted fine except for not eating. Came home from work just bawling because she sat with me, walked all over me, chased fluff in the air, acted fine but I thought she was on her way out. We did meds for about 2 months and an IV every day. Then we pulled her off the meds cause they were making her sick, then we cut back the IV to once a week or once every two weeks depending on how she's doing.

Well I'm off to the seamstress tomorrow. I have 2 dresses that need some "help". Since my intentions of losing any weight went down the tubes  I hope they can do something with this one to make it larger.

Very nice! In my goal to lose weight to fit my new dress, I had a salad tonight for dinner. BOY am I starving!!! Didn't someone mention Doritos and brownies???

I think I am going to glue them on right before she bridges and be done w/ it.

If she has her sewing badge, shouldn't she do it??? The night I was to bridge, I came down with the chickenpox and barely remember anything. Never did make it to a GS meeting after that.

Cheers!

Pretty dress Debi. I haven't even started shopping yet for my dresses.

We seem to have a lot in common! :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

My biggest problem with cooking is that if things have to cook a while, I tend to get bored and wander off! I have managed to have ALL the water boil off pasta  This is the main reason I like my Desperation Dinners cookbook. Everything in it can be made in about 1/2 hour and there isn't any waiting around time. It always has instructions something like - "as the meat is defrosting, chop 1 onion and 1 green pepper" - and the timing always works out just about right! I finish the job and the microwave beeps :rotfl: The authors don't assume that you remembered to take the meat out the night before and some recipes even suggest substitutions if you are missing an ingredient. I swear this book was written for me!

DS9 just got his cubscout Bear badge and we have a bunch of "segments" from this year AND last year - none of it has been sewn on yet. I only sew the main badges that go on the shirt - the segments and other stuff gets badge-magic-ed onto the fabric (and that only happens about once per year).

Mother's Day Plans - We'll be going to visit my grandmother. She will be 100 in early August (BIG party about 10 days before we leave for TOAL). It's about 2.5 hours of driving to get there and back home and we'll be taking her out to lunch (which she calls "supper") so most of the day will be taken.

I actually recieved my MD gift today. DH bought me a new lens for my camera. (I got the Canon EOS XTi for my birthday in January) It is a Canon 28-135mm IS and will hopefully be a good "walk-around" lens for us.

(actually i did the iron-on wonder-under stuff; worked great)

:rotfl: Thats ok..one of my girls in the troop has all of her's safety pinned..they have been that way all year. I figure..aleast they are on there. I managed to sew once every 3-4 months so everything has to go at the time. DD still has a bunch of patches that have to go on her jacket but I didn't get around to those.

I have a 28-200 (Sigma) on our 30D, its good "walk around" lens, the 28-135 should work fine

Now my DS10's baseball coach has a 600mm lens.....

sigh.... someday

I really take an atheist role. I mean it's soooooo Hallmark.

We don't even get a day off from work.

Now Memorial Day we at least get a three day weekend..WooHoo and usually we get to celebrate my scar. (i mean my DD's birthday)

Palo Brunch Question
---------------------

Way back (several threads ago) I seem to remember a discussion about a "couples brunch" at Palo. The idea was to pick a day and try to get our ressies for then individually - then we would have a sort of get together at brunch. Does anyone else remember this and did a date get set? I can't have brunch without DH, but it would be fun to have a bunch of us all there at once ....

DS10 is camping at West Point this weekend with Boy Scouts (leave it to military men to schedule this on Mother's Day weekend???)
DS8 has several baseball games....

We will be doing MD the following weekend

Happy Tuesday to you too! It's a beautiful day today in North NJ. At least looking out the windows it seems beautiful ;)

Mother's Day is going to be unique this year.... my parents recently told me their putting the house on the market and moving to AZ.(hopefully the house won't sell right away) My 90 year old grandmother (maternal) has expressed in the past that they can't move till she's dead...(she can be overly dramatic at times)
So my parents are breaking the news to her on Sunday... this ought to be fun!:scared1:
Of course my grandmother can go with them or stay in NJ. Hmmm... I'm the only one left in NJ after they leave...

I think lots of wine will be served my way Sunday..... Happy Mother's Day a little early to all the Mom's out there....
Wow, good luck on Sunday:flower3:

DS7 just got the call - he also made his travel hockey team.
Good golly what did we get ourselves into???
Hey:cheer2: Congrats to DS7 too:yay:

I'd be lost without the kitchen timer:confused3
As it is, half the time I don't hear it and the kids forget to tell me it went off (unless it's brownies, then they hear it:lmao: ).
My Mom is a great cook and she keeps telling me that it is all about practice. As it is right now, I'm pretty rusty too:rolleyes1

Sounds like a good idea, discuss on planning boards?
